@yohonn1, I had this one and almost all Waylon's early stuff on vinyl, but too much storage as I moved around for work took its toll. It broke my heart to let my collection go. Really, really appreciating finding this old stuff by Waylon.
Hi Tiger i don't know when George Recorded this track but he did your right , but he didn't own it , it was written by Dallas Frazier and appeared on Waylons 1968 album Jewels now as to who did it first, don't really come into it as like George Waylon covered many songs by other artistes , as to which is preferred is down to the listenerthanks for the comment...tc
@teddie488 hey teddie i didnt mean any disrespect to the great waylon jennings his impact on country music speaks for itself. i was just.using the song as a example of the fact that no singer can carry george jones s boots as a vocalist. waylon would have said the same thing. in fact said so many times.bottom line both men are in the hall of fame for very good reason. georges version came off a 1965 album. gotta love waylon. MAY YOUR DAYS BE GREAT AND MANY.
@MyTiger44 I respect everything you said and thank you for this comment also, i didn't take any offence, i can assure you, on your first observation. You made a very valid comment which i did appreciate so don't be put off thanks again and take care my friend
@teddie488 I have to say for his style for the most part George Jones has to be somewhere near the top if not at the top but that is what draws me too Waylon as well as puts him top of my list is that I got into Waylons' music as a teen because of his Honkey Tonk Heroes album then I disccovered that the style of Waylon is much more than just his rockin stuff as great as it is thers so much more to him than any other artist i've found IMO but I love all good music and GEORGE is beyond good.
Waylon didn't ever sing a bad song, just some better than others...been a fan for 50 years and back then it was pretty lonely being a fan, great to see the following he has which was inevitable because his voice just got better over the years.
You know I'm listening to these older songs of Waylon and it's hard to think that he wasn't happy with this sound...(I love them) It makes me wonder what they would sound like if he had the recording freedom he so badly wanted in this era......Sorry my mind running away with me! LOL!! Thanks for posting Eddie!!!
I get lots of support from people like yourself and i thank all for that, and i do it because greats like Waylon, JC and other great artistes would simply die away so in my own way it helps to keep the music alive and the kids educated as to who the greats were in Country , Waylon and JC were icons....THX Marion
It's great to be able to listen to different periods in Waylon's career. This song is one of my favourites from the late 1960s, a period that is often overlooked in his career.
