LOL at the music, made the video for me. Thats impressive to drop a elk like that with a pistol from that far, don't think I've ever seen one go down that fast
I'm convinced that the only humane way to eat meat is to hunt it. "Manufactured" meat is pretty gross, really. Hunting? The animal gets to run free, munch at will, make babies, etc. And instead of dying of old age, he gets to grace the table of mankind---with no hormones, antibiotics or what have you in his meat. And with a clean kill? the critter doesn't know what hit it. NIce shooting, by the way!
Best video on Youtube. I watch it daily. It's perfect because there's not 8 minute whisper session leading up to the kill and no emotional speech afterword. It's just a dude with a big handgun waiting for a good shot on an elk and BOOM! Dead animal. Then a pose with the kill afterwords. Perfection. Cool music too.
No offense sir, but unless you are a vegan you economically support a far more inhumane business. Have you ever been to a slaughter house? This was a quick ethical kill that will be eaten.
@MrColdfire1997 Unless you are a vegitarian, shut the fuck up. If you eat meat you eat animals that are raised in horrific conditions, pumped full of drugs, then brutaly killed by having their throats slit and let bled to death. An animal that lives in the wild get to roam free and live a healthy carefree life. If its taken down by a hunter its killed quickly and cleanly. You tell me which is worse?
@MrColdfire1997 They are magnificent and they are also good to eat.Hunting is an excellent wildlife management tool and the meat gained that way is healthier for you than store bought meat is.Plus, you have the memory of what you saw and did the day(s) that you hunted the animal which can be reminded to you every time you open the freezer & take out a portion for thawing.
@doughesson i agree with everything but the management part...there are too many endangered species for us to say THEY are over populating....there are over 6 billion of us...how many of them are there?...just sayin...but im all for guns and hunting..just not too early of an age
@UnadvisableCloud We aren't hunting the endangered species.Just those that have been brought back from the brink to keep their numbers in line with what their local habitat can support. Humans make their own decisions to breed. Some have no incentive to not make more of themselves since they get paid more for every baby they have.
Hunting teaches responsibility and obeying the law.You can't shoot fellow hunters or exceed the bag limits.
Fuck that was a great shot!!!!! What kind of gun do you have a Taurus? I have a couple video clips up of my 454 killing a deer this year.Check it out sometime, and again that was a GREAT shot!
impressive you can get that close to an elk without scaring it. then again I hunt with rifles around 200 yards away, so my hunts require slightly less sneaking
I would consider shooting smaller pigs with a 9mm. I have shot one deer with a 147 gr black talon and saw another shot with a 147 gr golden saber. Both where double lung hits (both exited) at 30 yards and both deer ran 50 feet then dropped.
Yes, I think 9mm would be much too small for wild boars of decent size. One gentleman who was hunting boar the same time as me used a 44 mag with handloads. It took 3 shots to put the beast down, 2 were already in vitals...
@donnieclay Though the 9mm is a low caliber the element of a clean stalk to close ranges and a clean accurate shot can dramatically improve succes even with calibers as low as 9mm but, at the same time most 9mm's i've seen are hardly fit for hunting. I have heard of people shooting hogs with clean kills useing calibers as low a 38 special but usually with target revolvers. I imagine a accurate 9mm with a good 5 inches of barrel and some +p+ hollow point would do the trick even on large boars.
@larsiemannen your allowed to have handguns in norway i have a freind that has them there but your only allowed to have one pistol of one cal. meaning only one 45 one 9mm one 357 and so on
@wolvenblacktalon1: Yea, I meant 'shooting with pistol/revolver' for hunting'. You can actually have more weapons in the same caliber, but you have to justify the usage; like - 9mm for IPCP (practical or smt) and 9mm for another 'sport'. :)
@wolvenblacktalon1: Yea, Norway is allways been like this. They treat us as retards, and that is what they get; they think we are the best country in the world on nearly anything, close to, but the truth is quite opposite - before 1970 we were the poorest country in europe, and despite the riches we have, we still are. we dont have shit for industry, nor do we produce -anything- at all. Sympoms of over-protectivity and a meaningless lifestyle is total in Norway; close to.
Well I was aiming center mass and the bullet struck as intended. When they dressed the elk out, they found that the .454 round had traveled through the elk's center mass (lungs and heart) and crushed the rear loins (hence the collapse.) I used to be leary of taking this round bear hunting but no more lol..Thanks for the email!

hope for wild boar in sweden, were bow and handgun is possible! 9mm to small on boars?

Hmm. I see. I got an 45. revolver. its hard to get any hard-hitting weps in norway. Hope thats enough for a descent sized boar. :)
