Activision holds the ownership of the call of duty franchise and the gamedevelopers they use are treyarch and infinitiward. treyarch made cod 1,2,3, WaW, and black ops. Infinityward made ModernWarfare, ModernWarfare2, and Modernwarfare3. With the last installment of modernwarfare treyarch did help and IW didnt disperse they are still in effect
