@flagship21 I live in Brazil and I have never been victim to any crime. Worst thing I witnessed was a transit brawl where a guy pulled out a gun, but he didn't even shot. I lived in the amazon, southeast and south. In large, small and medium cities and it is all pretty safe if you have common sense. Just stay away from the bad neighborhoods and don't walk around in a large city showing off you brand new Ipad and it is fine.
Btw, petty thieves attempted to mug me in Las Vegas and in Toronto.
