You know what's really funny? It's funny how many people start their post with "I'm white". Ah yeah, thank you for telling me. That doubles of course the weight of your opinion....because it's so special that white people like this song. Gives it more credibility. The song is officially approved by white people. We're proud...
This video is only to break down the word 'colored' used by some people into something fun with a twist. This video would not be ideal for an anti-racism music video since the message is fun but clear and could backfire pretty much.
@45276KING ... ausserdem, wenn du mal genau hinhören würdest, stellst auch du fest, das er uns gar nicht farbig nennt, er fragt nur warum wir auf die bescheuerte idee kommen sie als farbige zu bezeichnen, wo doch eigentlich wir in den farbtopf geworfen wurden...
The thing is that most people don’t think about the one single key word: INTENTION!
It’s the difference between murder and an accident. It’s the difference between racism and no racism. It’s the difference between evil and good. NOT the actual action.
But since we can’t (yet) look into the heads of people and read the intention, we assume what we want to assume. Now I ask you: Is that any less of a crime?
P.S.: Half-white, half-brown, and I liked this song a lot when it came out.
This song is as old as some of you commenting. It came out in Erope in 1996. Also is what written by a white man. He didnt take this poem from anything someone else took it from them cause the 'new' generation just wouldnt know.
white ppl are not really white and blacks are not really black. why do we use these words to describe people anyway? Why don't we call Indians "black" or Japanese "white". Do Native Americans really have red skins? Are Asians yellow?? I don't think so... Maybe we should just stop thinking in categories. By the way I am light brown :)
thats a serious theme with a funny layout... we need to acknowlege each other as individualls with certain gifts and skills... not by the color of our skin... i mean, what do we white people do in summer? we try to get brown... and folks ;-) the browner the better... so fat 5 to lemont
I'm white and i like this song it's funny because it's true we do have more color change. Overall words only mean what you want it to mean, nigger, whitie or coloured there just nouns... whatever... the words have offensive power only if you mean to offend (racist) or if the person you call is a racist and gets offended by it...
@fayandreia only white persons are in the position to come up with an overall definition of when a word such as "nigger" is offensive. Let me tell you something: the word is offensive when the person you call by this word regards it as offensive. Moreover, I am not a "racist" when I find it offensive when someone calls me "nigger"! I am entitled to be called by the words I consider as appropriate for myself. Words, such as nigger, are not just nouns; they carry along ages of discrimination!
i come from south africa and the word coloured is used to describe a person who's parents are of 2 different races.. tis not derogatory and another thing.... in south africa the word nigger is not offensive... its used in jest... why is it tht black people can call each other nigger... it seems more logical for a white person to.....yet they also call us whities... and honkers yet .... thats ok .. :D....
i remeber i was back inr omania ling time ago and i listen to this song and loved it for the firts time at a german music channel..i suppose it was released in germany..or maybe the singer is from there..or..who knows...!!
because this video was promoted by VIVA television, from Germany, similar with Mtv but much better, and yeah, i remember watching videos all night and day back in the '90-es when music was something good, in those days it only means fun and the lyrics was not meaningless like today music.
Geniales Lied, und zweifelsohne nicht rassistisch, wenn man weder über historische Hintergründe noch außreichender Englischkenntnisse verfügt sollte man lieber seine Meinung für sich behalten.
Jup, totaler Schwachsinn das. Schwarze nannte man früher gern "Farbige". Naja und TF zeigt hier eben mal auf in welchen verschiedenen "Farben" wir schillern in verschiedenen Situationen...in anderen Worten: "So WER ist denn hier jetzt der 'Farbige', hä?"
