@RandomBlonde1 I think you can. The more you stick with it and practice, and the more knowledgable you are about how to make music on what instrument you choose the better you will be sooner in general.
Eventually your brain changes the more often you play or do any repetitive task, so if you stick with it I think things will go well.
@RandomBlonde1 With lots and lots of practice! I started playing the flute at around age 9 (I'm currently in high school), and I'm still not as good as her!
But she's obviously had years of experience - I say stick with it, and you will get good.
I'm thinking about learning the violin as well ... but I'm worried it'll be too late =P
much better in recorder, and ... come on... its a piece very expresive see the versio from Frans Bruggen, in D minor!!!!! and will see how really sounds:D
i play flute and oboe. i think its just me but i think flute is the prettiest in sound. im not baggin on the other insrtruments butif u understand than ya. ive been playin flute for like 8 years and i really hope that i will become as good as that. great job. ill never give up my flute.
btw i love the vibrato it made it sound really nice.
wow this is amazing! I am a flautist but have only been playing for 6 years, i hope to be as good as you one day. Telemann is by far my favorite composer :)
Are there any exercises I could do to increase the speed of my fingers while playing? I try to play this song but my fingers keep up. I'd really appreciate if you helped me out. thanks :D
she is not bad but indeed not the best flute player (look for J.P.Rampall). she needs to controll the vibrato and her breathing is too loud. also her piano needs to be more precise.
@ninaflute this is the most beautiful flute solo ive ever heard!
i have a request for you.. could you play a solo version of Aria from Bach? i play the first voice of quartet arrangement, but it doesnt sound thaaat good without other instruments.. do you think its possible to make an arrangement for flute/viola/violin solo? if so, id love to hear you play that!
@lizzierocks114 theres no easy or hard instrument, it depends on what you want to do with it. but if you refer to fingering, its one of the easiest blow instrument, cuz if you close all your fingers it makes a C, if you open one by one you get D E F G A B C, very linear, and change octave on the mouth. Blowing it is like blowing a glass bottle(beer bottle). the sharps and flat notes have extra keys for them, that makes scales out of C major or A minor a little different(like black keys on piano)
It gets better, don't worry! I have been playing for about 4,5 years and I sound very nice, not airy at all. You just have to find the right flute (I'm so happy my teacher knows wich flutes are good and wich aren't). Just practise on your mouth a bit more, keep looking in the mirror and just play some notes a few times untill you think it sounds great . You'll get better :D
@XXtokieXX blow IN the flute, and turn the hole a little into your direction. that makes the note lower, so you have to close the pipe a little more to make it in pich again
it will sound smoother but it will be harder to play the low notes. also, depending on the music you will want a airy sound, then just turn it to the front again and blow some of the air out. airy sound is good for brasilian music like samba, chorinho, bossa nova. smooth is cool to play classic, and some jazz.
@bxinger i play while walking in my house.. i dont care about body position at all, and i sound good. sometimes i even play laying on my bed XD that makes breathing harder, but when im in the right position, then the long phrases become easy. (but i still cant play everything in one breath: she plays from 0:13 to 0:21 in one breath, i can get only to 0:19)
@ericoschmitt : That's ok. Just don't play like Sarah Palin and most of us will be happy. You can play upside down in a washroom cubicle too (like Ron Bergundy), - as long as whatever you might be looking up at inspires you.
@jazzflutist i dont mean I play upside down.. i mean i twist the mouthpiece 180 degrees and blow it with my upper lip touching the flute, and the lower giving direction to the air :P i can play 2 octaves like this haha
i showed this to the maestro of my orchestra where i play cello, he plays flute for about 30 years and he couldnt do that \o/
@ericoschmitt Might have to do a video of this to show us. Do you mean that you rotate the headjoint (flute body stays put) on the flute 180 towards (or away from) you so that the blowhole is now "underneath" (from the viewpoint of someone standing up normally looking at it)? If so, why not, as long as you can get a sound.
but i did this some times just for fun, it doesnt sounds as good and i cant blow high notes
there are tons of stuff i would like to record in many instruments, maybe i start playing an upside-down flute&cello version for bach's air :P i think i can blow that in this way
@Blackgeoff1 : I just tried playing my flute with the hole upside down - and I almost got a reasonable sound. Problem is, I found myself running out of air and turning purple so had to quit. Another time maybe ....
@ericoschmitt I can play with the mouthpiece upside down too :) One day when my high school band was playing at a basketball game I declared it "play your flute upside down day" and we all played like that for most of the game. We probably sounded terrible, but it was so much fun! ahhhh, good memories :)
She's moves around so much because when you get into the music you just do - its expressive your whole body is an instrument and its part of putting emotion into the music. Lovely!
I've just picked up the flute after nearly 30 years without playing and have started taking lessons again. I'm thoroughly enjoying it! Just wanted to say - beautiful! You're an inspiration. Thank you.

Wow ...wonderful tone and projectio great balance ...perhaps a little more shading within the phrases rather than the more classical echo type ..but a small point.

I've played flute for about 19 years, and this piece is a marvelous piece to play. Her tone and her articulation is perfection. She gets a bit flat in various areas, but overall her performance is golden. Beautifully played!
I definitely feel like I'm falling down stairs. 1:49 Such a beautiful job, so the first day I pick up a flute, I will aspire to play with this type of passion.
Wow just listening to it I can feel that perfect gone running through the flute and how good it feels. Anyone who plays flute knows what I'm talking about. You are quite talented and it was quite worth my while to listen to you.
I'm playing solo for Texas UIL. I hope that I can reach a level to half of this! (:

Très bon son de la flûte sans air qui passe et tout... Mais j'aime pas trop la zik =/
Don't like the music =/
But you're really good, your flute is beautiful. Good job, Nina ;-)

I definitely feel like I'm falling down stairs. 1:49 Such a beautiful job, so the first day I pick up a flute, I will aspire to play with this type of passion.

hi Nina,
maybe you would like this Piccolo player.

Wow just listening to it I can feel that perfect gone running through the flute and how good it feels. Anyone who plays flute knows what I'm talking about. You are quite talented and it was quite worth my while to listen to you.

Great sound! However, it'd be an great improvment to not make your breathing so noticeable.:)
