...And take them down on new years day. Where I live people don't really put lights up on the outside of their house's, maybe a couple of icicle style lights around the porch and that is it. In the nearest town though I know of a house that leaves lots of Christmas lights up all year long, which to me looks tacky that they cannot even be bothered to take them down.
As for commercialism I think that we have reached the point of no return, unfortunately. People will not change.
Where I live Halloween is not really a big event, and it is looked down upon (in my area anyway) for people to go trick or treating as it is seen as a form of begging.
Usually the only thing that happens is that people will go over to friends house's for drinks and that is it.
But as for Christmas if I was to drive into the nearest town then the earliest I have seen people putting Christmas decorations up is around mid November. When I was younger we put ours up around a week before the 25th!..
Maby they do all this for money , now halloween is coming i dont see that much kids going out for candy these days , and what do u also think of womans dresses , they all look like they're for sex like maids and devils thats what its been looking like for the past few years even look at the halloween stores
