  • i cant get that first first fast lick at 0:25!

  • thankyou to the one dilsliker because he made the bar look like a spliff. Beautiful cover

  • @Django5198

Thanks for the kind words Django - please check out my Channel as I posted a revised "Dreams" three days ago that I think captures the original even better.....

  • awesome!

  • please,the tab???!!!!!

  • amazing tone and feeling you have there my friend... 5/5 awesome musician.

  • Thanks for the feedback! - please check out other Allman postings on my site!

    Cheers,

    Jeff

  • are u kidding me man, where's the slide part

  • This solo is one of those solos that has so much feel to it that you feel compelled to learn it by ear instead of seeking tab. Once you lock in to those slides with vibrato you can't stop yourself from wanting to master it. Just find that extra note in the major scale and you're on your way.

  • Thanks Powderfinger - couldn't agree with you more. I love the mixolydian scale, but there's so much more to it than just notes. Duane had a unique feel that is a real inspiration and has no equal!

  • @Powderfinger07 love you account name!!!

  • Wow I play by ear too!!!

  • Great man, i love it.

  • Thanks - Sorry I don't have a Tab and I play by ear, but I understand the chords are C6 and D7, and that the solo is a D major scale with a b5. I don't know if this is what I am doing however!

I'm going to be posting another Dreams version shortly of the complete song and better audio -- i just posted "Moonflower" amd a Doobie Brothers tune if you're interested....

  • Hey I just found your vid .that sounds awesome do you know where I can get tabs for that . again great jb

  • wow great tone, great job

  • standard or open e?

  • Standard tuning....thanks for asking!

  • sweet vibrato

  • very nice job, from a long time Allman fan.

  • Another thing i just noticed. You don't use a slide for the second part of the solo. I am a natural born slide guitarist so i always use it. Also, when there are those 2-step bends i notised you bend it one step then you slide it, exactly what i do, if i don't i have to tighten my g while i play. haha

  • Thanks a lot AP! The guitar I'm playing is a an LP SG Standard VOS Custom -- very nice -- I also have the '61 Reissue. Since posting the video I also bought a Carr Mercury amp which is one of the best investments I've made for getting a great tone. Check them out.

  • The amp sounds good too. I just saw these guys in concert and Warren Haynes uses a Soldano SLO-100 head with a marshall cab loaded w/ v-30s... WOW! It sounds amazing, as soon as i work up an extra $4,000 (HAHA) I will definately look into purchasing one of those. This song is one of the only songs i actually know Note-4-note. I am thinking about posting a video of me playing it soon, i will let you know if i do.

    Peace,

    APYanke

  • VEry good dude! What kind of SG is that by the way? i have a standard and that one sounds great.

  • Great job

  • it doesnt matter whos better

  • I'd give Duane the nod for lyrical phrasing and discipline, but Derek is a master musician - You know he could play anything he wants, with dynamics to the moon, but his live performances seem indecisive...imo

  • sounds very good dude, duane would be proud

  • Sounds great! Good job. cool guitar too

  • Actually I believe Derek is much better than Duane ever was. His intonation, voicing, skill

and last but not least talent. Not to take away anything from Duane. Duane was a ground breaking guitarist and was rated #2 in the Rolling Stone's issue 100 Greatest guitarists.

But Derek Has been playing longer (partly because he outlived Duane) and he is also

a very serious student of music.

If you really want the truth, go see him play live.

  • he better be technically better since Duane only had about 12 yrs of guitar exp and Derek has over 20+ now..and without Duane there would be no Derek..not saying Derek isn't any good

  • sounds awesome...better than what I could do. This guy knows what I'm talking about. Duane Allman is the master soloist for this song, lol and people actually believe Derek Trucks is in the same league as Duane Allman.

  • Thanks! I'm a huge fan of both Duane and Derek, both have an amazing clean tone to their setups and put a lot of emotion into each note - and just the right amount of vibrato to let each note sing.

  • Dude you're awesome!! This sounds legit!!
