Heck, they did that with ALL characters (Squall was turned into a cocky prick, Cloud became an Emo, Bartz turned into VAAN ffs, Cecil became totally cheesy, Terra turned into the token damsel in distress etc.).
IMO, that's proof enough that NOBODY who worked on the original FF series (1 - 9 under Sakaguchi) is in Square Enix any longer, hence why everything is different (even the quality of new FF games).

@prosepokemon Well, Crispin Freemen played a good Setzer for the five or six lines he had, so I'd like to see him show up again. I think Mog should have an overly masculine voice like in that comercial. Steven Blum as Shadow would be outstanding, and Shiloh Strong playing Edgar would be funny.Maybe Brad Swale as Locke. I'm at a loss for Cyan, Sabin, and Celes. And hell, Spike Spencer as Ultros. He's a silly character, and Spike can deliver I think.
@vopop30 Wait, do you think Cam Clark could play Cyan? It's also hard to figure out what a good voice for Gau would be. Same thing goes for Emperor Gestahl. Sean Shemel could pull off a good Sabin. FFVI features a large and varied list of great characters, so I feel that they should have equaly great voice actors. These are just my favorites, so I may not know some really great ones that other people might think of. I'm really interested to see what are other peoples' dream casts.

I agree 100% Kefka is a cool character and his voice actor nailed him perfectly. His voice actor is amazing. I know he played a lot of other characters, but I was really shocked when I found out he played Cliff Fittir (Star Ocean:Till the End of Time). Proves how great he really is. ^^

lolz, yeah he really did. In the japanese version, Kefka has like 10 diff tone of voices depending on the attacks. Dave did them really well. But I guess that the japanese kefka voice is impossible to copy unless u wanna kill ur throat.

As much as I would've loved Mark Hamill in this role, you gotta give Dave Wittenberg his props. He has some mad vocal ranges, This, Teddie from Persona 4, Kakashi from Naruto. Very well done IMO.
I think they wanted Kefka's voice high. Somewhat like Judge Doom's cartoon voice. But Mark's Joker voice was rather low to medium. Not that screechy :P
Hey, what's wrong with typecasting Mark Hamil? I could understand if his typecast was something lame like the "stoic hero" or the "token flamboyantly gay guy," but Mark Hamil gets to be the friggin' psychopath. I'd want that character association if I was a voice actor.
Yeah, Mark voiced Wolverine in the game X2 - Wolverine's revenge.
He's also done Fire Lord Ozai from Avatar, the narrator in Call of Duty 2, and Hobgoblin in the 90's Spider-man cartoon, among many, many other roles, so he's actually had quite the range of roles!

I just feel there's absolutely no depth to the voice. There's no insanity to it at all. Not even a hint of instability. With someone as mad as Kefka, there has to be an audible volatility: cracking voice, fluctuating tones... All he does is scream as loud as he can. Insanity is not just an otherwise sane man with the volume dial always on 11.
A few of his lines are all right, but overall it just strikes me as either genuinely mediocre, poorly funded, or a rush job. Though I doubt the former...
Ok. To people who don't like Kefka's voice, what kind of voice would have suited him better? I personally think it sounds great. Unless some of you are deaf, he sounds like an insane jester while he can sound sinister. Hasn't anyone heard him say "Don't mess with me!"?

I waited this long to hear Kefka's voice in english and now I wanna cry. I hate his voice where's the phycotic laughter I grown to love. I love the japanese actor but this was horrible!!!!
Kefka's voice is awesome and signifies that he's not to be messed with. If you meet a psychotic clown who wishes for the destruction of life itself who, and you hear that his voice is similar to that of an experienced and deadly ninja, you KNOW that he's out for your blood, and that you're screwed.
Not this 'JAPANESE IS SUPERIOR' crap. We really don't need any of that. Seriously. This isn't about imitation or tryin' to be godly. This is just simply about capturin' the character. That's it.
It looks like Square Enix put a lot more effort into Kefka's facial expressions than anyone else's.

As much as I would've loved Mark Hamill in this role, you gotta give Dave Wittenberg his props. He has some mad vocal ranges, This, Teddie from Persona 4, Kakashi from Naruto. Very well done IMO.

I think they wanted Kefka's voice high. Somewhat like Judge Doom's cartoon voice. But Mark's Joker voice was rather low to medium. Not that screechy :P

Hey, what's wrong with typecasting Mark Hamil? I could understand if his typecast was something lame like the "stoic hero" or the "token flamboyantly gay guy," but Mark Hamil gets to be the friggin' psychopath. I'd want that character association if I was a voice actor.

Yeah, Mark voiced Wolverine in the game X2 - Wolverine's revenge.
He's also done Fire Lord Ozai from Avatar, the narrator in Call of Duty 2, and Hobgoblin in the 90's Spider-man cartoon, among many, many other roles, so he's actually had quite the range of roles!

Man... I was really looking forward to this. I expected the dub team to be fantastic... but I have yet to hear one I really like besides Golbez. The others are so stale! It's like they're not even trying! I mean, either they were all paid 20 bucks or their director was a dick.

I just feel there's absolutely no depth to the voice. There's no insanity to it at all. Not even a hint of instability. With someone as mad as Kefka, there has to be an audible volatility: cracking voice, fluctuating tones... All he does is scream as loud as he can. Insanity is not just an otherwise sane man with the volume dial always on 11.
A few of his lines are all right, but overall it just strikes me as either genuinely mediocre, poorly funded, or a rush job. Though I doubt the former...

Ok. To people who don't like Kefka's voice, what kind of voice would have suited him better? I personally think it sounds great. Unless some of you are deaf, he sounds like an insane jester while he can sound sinister. Hasn't anyone heard him say "Don't mess with me!"?

Kefka's voice is awesome and signifies that he's not to be messed with. If you meet a psychotic clown who wishes for the destruction of life itself who, and you hear that his voice is similar to that of an experienced and deadly ninja, you KNOW that he's out for your blood, and that you're screwed.
