  • Being honest(and a Blu-Ray customer) I would only invest in BR if you have at least a 32" screen. Otherwise, put your money away and stick with DVD.

If you do invest in a Blu-Ray player, then be careful. Ensure it has at least Ethernet(for updating the player) and USB(to eliminate load times with a memory stick). That BR player may be a great bargain but it maybe reduced because its a useless model.

Also, a sound system is a great companion for either BR or DVD.

  • I gave a thumbs up for threesomes!

  • You made a good pont!! Why can't there just open up all formats!! Movies could sell so much better! Blu-ray for all your must have & loved Movies. DVD if wana save money. Digital if trying to save space & don't mind dvd like qulity at the time being. If I was reach & money was not holding me back. I buy a blu-ray & Dightal copy of all my movies. But yes blu-ray is the best for ture movies Lover's:-)

  • SORRY MAN>>>AVATAR....IS HORRIBLE...DIGITAL IMAGE MAN NOT FRON 35MM OF 70mm???? FILM IS GREAT DIGITAL IS SHIT!!!!!

  • @TheRASPUZIO

I think you missed the point of the video.

  • I buy digital Movies off of Zune Marketplace on the Xbox, and the movies are in HD 1080p. No quality downgrade. It's a lot of HDD space though.

  • 1. Blu-ray - not much better than dvd, but it is, and I want the player.

    2. DVD

    3. Digital

  • @Freezingred2

You know, I've always known that blu-ray was better. However, up until recently I didn't know just how much better it is. I challenge you to find a 1080p TV with an HDMI blu-ray hook up and a good surround sound system and do a side-by-side comparison of a blu-ray and DVD for the same movie. I couldn't believe how horrible DVD looked. Remember back when it looked amazing? Yeah...that time is long gone.

  • @cobra0528

I think the reason i've never thought Blu-ray was amazing is because I don't really think I've seen it much on a 1080p tv. I'm thinking of getting a $90 blu-ray player soon and a cable to hook it up to my HD TV (which I don't know if it is 720p, 1080i or 1080p). However, I love DVDs. Their picture quality is inferior, yes, but they are so much accessible this day in age.

  • @cobra0528 I am still rocking VHS. LOL

  • dvds were a big deral when they first came on the scene too. vhs ruined some films with its poor quailty.

  • I hate digital movies, unless they are either free or streamed. Any movie I acquire from download get's deleted and if it's a worthy movie I go out an buy either dvd/blu ray.

Another factor is that sometimes the price of a blu ray is not worth it as the quality might not be noticeably different. Mortal Kombat on blu ray I feel was not what I expected from a blu ray disk. I mean when the movie came out vhs was the only option. Also I just love the 4 pack dvd's for the price of one.

  • @sicpit Too bad! The Digital Age is coming! Computers are dominating are lives! That's a fact and it will continue to evolve where everything will require computers.

  • @FallofDarkness55

yeah, and as digital media increase piracy is well is going to increase soon. When everything is only digital piracy will likely sky rocket. In the end when we don't have a physical copy their is no difference between a legit copy and a fake copy.

  • @sicpit Do you really think digital piracy will be a problem? There will be encrypted copyright protection into the (.mp4) movie itself that will make it impossible to pirate it. The only people that will bypass this kind of security are people who know how to crack encryptions. In other words, you will need to be a computer genius. And by the way, i'm majoring in computer engineering and i'm thinking about helping improve security and copyright protection.

  • @FallofDarkness55 yes I really think Piracy will go up as it has significantly since we went digital. Yes only a select few people will know how to crack the encryption, but these select few people make software allowing anyone who knows how to run a computer to use. DVD's are encrypted with so that supposedly you can't make copies. Yet I am able to easily make back up copies of my dvd's.

  • @sicpit i know how to backup cd's but how do you backup dvd's? just curious.

  • @FallofDarkness55 Well I am sure you can find software for both Windows and Mac but I use an application in Ubuntu(linux) called k9 copy. You first have to get the code to allow to play encrypted DVD's and then after that you can legally back up any dvd you wish. I don't pirate I buy new/used and I also use netflix.

  • it's not likely but possible is that eventually people may get burned out on a digital world

  • @sicpit i don't think so. The thing is many people don't realize they're constantly on a computer whether if they are on their desktop, laptop, iphone, ipad, ipod, etc.

  • In the end Digital will win! Netflix already has online movies. Comcast and HuluPlus have online television! We are on the brink of a new conversion era. Eventually televisions will become obsolete! Get ready for the era of online television!

  • @FallofDarkness55 yes but teh quality isnt on par as the rest.

  • if 1080p 4x your mind will blow up with the quality

  • need money i still have VHS movies if i have the movie on VHS or DVD im not buying again but blu ray is lovely quality all the way inception was the first bluray i saw and i fell in love with blu ray never wanted to watch a DVD again but i still do if im not playing on my game cube or ps2 or ds or my computer so the few minutes i take to watch something most of the time maybe 5 out of 6 its bluray

  • I usually only go for the bluray if the dvd is deprived of features that the bluray has or if it is sold in a combo. I only own like 2 blurays right now. There is something that I really want on bluray, but am gonna have to wait til the cost goes down since I already own it on dvd. I have one of those TVs where bluray is probably not too noticeable...I just want the movie and the special features. Besides I spend so much time on my laptop, I probably have low standards now.

  • Oh and just so there is no confusion, I am not a supporter of digital downloads. I have a few tv shows on my iTunes library mostly because there are no dvd versions, but the only time I ever use digital is online. I just meant that I usually watch my dvds on my computer rather than the tv and bluray usually out of convenience so as a result, I am used to lower quality.

  • Digital is getting much higher quality. But going looking for movies is good.

  • I've watched a movie in Blu-ray and I though it was awesome. The picture quality and the sound blew DVD quality out of the water. Unfortunately we don't have a Blu-ray set up at home. But I would love having that. And I like the fact that the Blu-ray plays DVDs as well. Digital movies are fine for iPods. But, I have to agree with the whole ownership thing. Blu-ray is superior in every fathomable way! Who cares about paying more!?! Better quality!

  • Double rainbow all the way.

    Erm. I mean...

  • i like how you took all three opinions.

  • To put it simply...

    Bluray > Imax > Digital > DVD

  • @LoppyLopsided lol avatar on imax was awesome, kills bluray...

  • I love the Jaguar theme room very sexy!

  • Cheap all the way! And you sound like venom talking to yourself, your schizo lol. And no i've never seen an IMAX movie.

  • I have a LOT of DVDs, I might have to count them all... My boyfriend just recently gave me his Blu-rays. We have watched them and there is a noticable difference in quality, but me being cheap as I am go for the DVDs. :D

Digital sucks and blows at the same time. I like to being able to have something tangable, just as you said. :/

  • omg theirs three of them now and bluray because i like to own what i buy.

  • I buy manga simply because it's a better experience and I have a few people who I would like to share it with as well. I do, however, buy dvds of series I particularily like. I might eventually choose Blu Ray for that, but there aren't many bluray anime dvds out there yet. But 1 Bluray movie I did spend money on was Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete. It is completely worth the money for the experience. Also, I have a PS3, so I don't need a Bluray player. Ps3 ftw!

  • I perfer the physical media experience better in most cases. But for much of my media watching purposes, I simply download the online then delete once I'm finished. And, I've gotta say, most of my downloads are top-notch quality. I rarely spend money myself on movies. I will go see them with family or recieve them as gifts, but I have limited funds and would rather save for video games and manga. I have a lot right now that I want to get.

  • Wait a min cody this is coming from the guy who waits for video games to get really cheap XD and the recession is actually effecting people. Well at least here in Oregon its hard to get jobs =(

But Im fine with Blu-ray or DvD. I get the whole ownership thing thats why io buy manga books even thou my friends are like "you know you could just read them online right?" Yeah but i like something to hold and i like to read on the bus or in the car.

  • cheetahs in background? sexy

  • I am not all for one. I prefer to download my movies. (mostly because I get them for free)

I like DVD's cause their cheap and I like Blu-Ray, but I actually like Blu-Ray a little less.

The reason I dislike Blu-rays a little less BECAUSE of its good quality. Sometimes it makes a movie better (Dark Knight) and sometimes I think it makes a movie MUCH worse (Chronicles of Narnia).

Sometimes too good of quality ruins an experience for me in being able to make out all of the flaws of something easier

  • I've seen blu-ray on a really nice big hdtv and i gotta say it is phenomonaly. lol if i can spell better than dvd. its so clear that i felt like i was there and it was awesome. dvd is nice and yeah the price is convenient, but if it's a movie that i really like, i'd so rather see it on blu-ray, its worth the extra couple bucks. :)

can't say much about digital, I've watched digital and the quality is very poor.

  • YOU AND YOUR BOXERS!!!!. lol.

  • DARK KNIGHT, is worth every penny. :)

  • Bluray all the way!!!

  • @FMoradipour

    Quoted!

  • @cobra0528

Although I do prefer Blu-ray films which come with a DVD version and a Digital Copy as well... just sayin'.

  • @cobra0528 bluray for me mate once i had a bluray player and then i just get bluray all the time which is good ill have to buy some more movies

  • Like This If You Think This Video Deserves More Views For The Trueness And Effort of It

  • @gernvurney

    You're a good human

  • I use DVD's and digital (sorta, if you count putting movies I already purchased on my iPod for long car trips since the battery life is better than my laptop). I don't have the set-up for Blue-ray. We have a couple HD TV's in our house, but they aren't mine, they belong to my step-sister and my parents. My dad has a plasma screen for the living room. I have a regular old TV and until HD TV's are cheaper or my current TV dies that's good enough for me. I don't watch movies often enough to care.

  • @ellichan

Have you gotten the chance to see a Blu-ray movie with a proper set up? If not, let me know what you think of it when prices drop. If so, let me know what you did think!!! :)

  • @cobra0528 I have, but I couldn't fully enjoy it as I left my glasses at home (or they hadn't come in yet, can't remember) and I was at my cousin's house so viewing it was a problem :P. I believe I saw The Dark Knight. From what I saw with my vision issues it was slightly better, but as I said I could not view it properly. They have a 1080 TV, not sure if it's i or p, and they use their PS3 for movies. My uncle has a nice set-up, I'll have to view it next time I go to visit.

  • damn cody this is probably your best vid....soooo far.

    realy deep stuff!!!

  • @cybololz

    Thank you! :D

  • HOW DARE YOU INTERRUPT MY SPANISH HOMEWORK!
