@Weraisethenerdyflag I got a fucking antiwrinkle advert wtf is wrong with youtube these days I have to fight through the ads. Fuck your advertising onscreen Youtube. Keep it in the margins where the gimps can click on it.
Saw the groundhogs live a few days ago, sadly tony had a stroke about 2 years ago so he has a problem singing, he still sang eccentric man, but everything else was sung by a woman theyve roped in to sing.
Would have been amazing if he'd sung the whole gig, but sadly he couldnt for obvious reasons.
Today, August 6th 2011, is the 66th anniversary of the dropping of the A-bomb on Hiroshima. Made me think of this song and great album. One of my 10 favorite albums of all time.
SEEN TONY MC FEE QUITE A FEW TIMES AT HALF MOON PUTNEY AND AT CLAPHAM AND HE IS AMAZING SOLO OR EVEN BETTER WITH THE GROUNDHOGS BUT THAT WAS 30 YEARS AGO AND WAS INTO SPLIT AND MANY OTHER ALBUMS AND THANK YOU TONY AND BAND FOR SUCH GREAT EXPERIENCES MOST UNDER RATED GUITARIST EVER AND BRITISH PSYCHEDELIC BLUES AT ITS BEST AND LONDONS JIMI HENDRIX AMAZING GUITAR THAT IS NOT APPRECIATED ENOUGH. THEY ARE PLAYING FESTIVAL IN SURREY EARLY SEPTEMBER, WEY FESTIVAL AND A MUST FOR REAL BIKERS AND MUSOS.
Great line up! The temptation.... is IRRESISTIBLE!! It's a must indeed!!! I'll be there, just booked my w/e ticket...YEEAAA!! Ray Dorset, Robin Trower, Space Ritual, The Enid, Focus, Arthur Brown, The Blockheads, MT's Wishbone Ash, 3 Bonzo's & A Piano :-D..lol...(bring your own spoons!) and many more. Freeking amazing!!! Plus, of course, the mighty GROUNDHOGS!!! 2nd, 4th and ♪♫...3rd of September, a day I'll always remember, yes I will.....♪♫ ☼ ;-j
@piercethevale I agree why did tony end up playing pubs in the 80's and not big halls? Having said that he was part of the 80's indie scene and we loved him! you should of been at the golden eagle or the mermaid in brum and you'll know what i mean!
tony gets all the praise the real beating heart is the bass player Pete Cruickshank, Tony stiched him up for a massive tax bill and the pair didnt speak for years. Pete is a legend and a great man. He is the one sitting in the background in this picture.
to basicband ~ currently Tony is without voice since illness last year. He's back 'guitar fit' now though and gigging with his partner Joanna who is supplying vocals while Tony's restorative work on his voice continues ;-j
Saw Groundhogs open for Edgar Winter and White Trash in their Tobacco Road tour in the 'Shell' in Memphis in 1972. TS McPhee was awesome. I was doing some good LSD and I remember his hand being a blur when he played 'Amazing Grace" . The audience was gasping as he played., we were all so impressed.
Nice comment. A footnote that may raise a smile. I thought he wa singing "German banks settled the score". In fact 'twas "two Big Bangs ..." Check out your Google and Yahoo and look for Mondygreens, sites where old fools like me get it all wrong, though sometimes not altogether wrong. You'll revel in delights as Jimi's ""scuse me while I kiss this guy", and stuff ending with "well, I think that is what he said!"
just bought this album, and already have who will save the world- the mighty groundhogs, along with spooky tooth's first two cd's. all i can say is awesome! why can't people play like this today? wish i was a teen in the 60's.
yes it is ironic, very. it is also ironic that he is not known widely like hedrix page clapton etc. loved his playing since scratching the surface til present day. what a musician that man is.
Just struck me .... mebbe I'm a little slow too now and then. Has it ever struck you just how alike they are? The intro to this fine piece of music and Rory's 'Unmilitary Two-Step'? Crosscut, for sure! And cross-pollinitation? More, more, ...!
What's with the fucking ad? I don't want to see a man's fucking ass when I want to listen to this song.

One of my favourite bands. And too underated really anyway.
We'll never get the 70's back. But I consider myself privileged to have been there and smelled the smoke ..

The trick with this song is the idea of the lyric is answered in the mayhem of the music at the end, it is pure genius!
