About 60 people from the Occupy Long Beach movement marched to city hall, protesting the recent arrest alleged mistreatment of George Diller who was arrested at Lincoln Park for smoking and other charges. The usually tranquil Occupy Long Beach movement kicked up its protest Friday with a "march for justice" to oppose the Tuesday arrest of former Marine Sgt. George Diller.

We do fund raisers CONSTANTLY for the sick in our communities. We USED to do fund raisers for the Cancer Society. We do pool tournaments and Texas Hold em Tournaments and bike poker runs.

American Cancer Society's lobbying arm, CAN, is working the Macon Georgia City Council. During a meeting with their representative night before last, Laura of ACS CAN, told bar owners that "yes, they did misrepresent by ommission" the poll presented to the Council, the Mayor, the media, and the citizens of MAcon". She admitted that "yes, you will lose income", but then the lie was told that "business would come back". It doesn't. You close!

Just announced by Tobacco Free Kids (created by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation) that Obama (who allowed his pharma friends to write the Healthcare Bill, and had his very own RWJF "Fellow" helping out around the White House) is directing the Federal Government to pay Quitlines. (which the American Cancer SOciety made $9 million dollars running last year) The American Cancer Society has received tens of millions of dollars in grants to lobby for smoking bans from RWJF. It is illegal lobbying.

Colorado announces they are lowering the government's take from casinos because, (surprise surprise) casinos are going under due to the smoking ban!

The controversy over second hand smoke could be ended quickly by a simple act of legislation. Anyone presenting information represented as science concerning health information for the purpose of making laws and regulations, which is later found to be false or misleading, would be rewarded with a mandatory ten year jail sentence.

We want to thank State Rep Garber, for supporting properting rights and for his defense of common sense. I agree with Elazar. The Cancer SOciety is sitting on a 1.6 BILLION dollar interest earning savings account. They have NO intention of curing cancer, and their "research" basically consists of phone surveys. That is SCIENCE? Why they are considered a charity is beyond comprehension. They are a money making behemoth! THe ONLY people helping the sick and poor is the poor unpaid volunteers. God bless THEM, anyway!

Hello out there. The 6 pm News ran a story on the American Legion in Garden City Kansas clsoing due to the smoking ban. Many places are already closed and many are reporting down sales from 25 to 80%. Even one small voice can make a difference in geting the truth out. The media won't, they get too much money in pharma ads. Please support candidates in November who voted against the ban in Kansas. It is life or death to many small taverns. Why is it that ppl are talking about these important political issues at bars? Bars that are closing dues to corrupt smoking bans. Sounds remarkable close to infringing on the right/ability to freely and peacefully assemble.
A woman on a news show once said that some businesses objected to the upcoming smoking ban, but they weren't around anymore. Weren't around anymore...doesn't that frighten anyone?

The experts say that nonsmokers are dying of smokers' diseases after being exposed to SHS/ETS. So...both smokers and nonsmokers are dying of these diseases? Doesn't sound like much of a correlation to me at all.
The best thing for these hospitality workers to do is demand that tobacco sales and use be banned--in the name of public health of course. When faced with losing tobacco money, we'll quickly see their true colors. Alas, that'll never happen. ;-(
