  • Is there anyway to check that you are positively getting a video

stream from the fire wire connection? It would be suck if you recorded

an event and found out the connection was loose.

  • were did you buy the mette box

  • This helped a lot, thank you so much! I just have a few questions to ask if you dont mind.

Does a battery come along with the product or is it sold separate, if so what kinda batter would be needed? And is it mounted that way for other cameras aside from the N7U, N5U, etc.

  • What type of recording were you doing with the HV20? (1080i/p? 60/24?)

  • what are CF:> used For

  • Where did you get your VCR cover in the background from mate?

  • @GanEdenAustralia Panasonic NV-HS950AM S-VHS, ebay for an exorbitant price when I was doing wedding videos I wanted the cleanest possible VHS dubs...also has TBC for clean VHS-->DVD conversions. No real need for it now...pity I hardly used it.

  • @monyx1101 Cheers mate. Where in Oz are you? I'd like to get into weddings but no idea how to edit and add effects etc..I have a few HD Pro cameras as well like the JVC HD200 and Sony FX1. I used Sony Vegas Pro 10.

  • Anybody tried this with a JVC HD200UB that streams 1080i out?

  • Does it provide the same high definition recording quality as you use the HDV tape?

  • @zzmandtrp yes

  • What is the size of the file when you log & transfer from the CF cards. When I use HDV tape it is approximately 13 gb per hour. What is the size of the file after you transfer using the CF cards? Thank you

  • @kleyon11 same, ~12Gb per hour for the M2T files

  • Looking to use this on my sony HC1. Does this unit make the separate movie files each time you hit record and standby? I guess like what the other guys were asking, if it goes in sync? I noticed you pressed record on the unit and it was recording from the start, just wondering if it will work together with the cam. Please let me know

    Chris

  • How about a DC adapter? Is it included or would you have to buy it separately?

  • hi how many gb this can take at a tame. can this take 100 gb or it can only take 16gb thx.

  • @MegaSamco only 16 I think.

  • i just got the sony hvr hd1000u and i got to get this

  • does the shoe comes with the HVR-MRC1K or you had to buy it separatly?

  • shoe adapter is included from Sony.

  • any chance to make it work under Sony Vegas aswell? That would be awesome!

By the way, this litle facility is just great. If somday there aren't any fresh Mini DV tapes anymore, you can still record with the camera directly into the flash device. :)

Is it possible to record on both at the same time (Tape and Flashdrive) ?

  • The device can save raw M2T mpeg2 files or AVI or DV video for standard def cameras. If Vegas can handle those files or use a converter then you just copy files from the memory card to hdd just like any USB drive.

  • Cool! Vegas does accept M2T files without any problems and without any intermediate conversion (allthough it is suggested) and you can work with them on the timeline aswell. Same with DV AVI of course. Thanks for the answer :)

  • I used the follow mode not syncro for it to record to card when pressing camera record.

  • I have been using it quite well with my XHA1. It records all formats from the xha1 in the proper frame rates. I have been testing it out with y HV30. I cant get the record button on the camera to start recording on the MRC1K though. I have to manually press the record buttons on the MRC1K. It's in Synchro mode, any idea what I might be doing wrong?

  • > any idea what I might be doing wrong?

You are using a Canon camera instead of Sony. Seriously. Sony adds rec start/stop commands to i.LINK. Can you record 24F/30F ?

  • @ConsumerDV

My canon xha1 records fie with the mrc1k . Recording syncs from the camera to the unit just fine. It records 30f and 24f as well. The only issue I am having is when I use my HV30 with the mrc1k I have to hit record on the unit manually. Not sure if there is a setting I have thats wrong with the HV30.

  • Interesting. Either Canon borrowed the start/stop codes from Sony for the A1/G1, or it was too lazy to implement these commands in the HV30. Sony states in its docs that only some camcorders work in sync mode, not even all Sony camcorders, so I assumed this was a relatively new extension Sony added to FireWire protocol.

  • Can it handle 24p or 30p?

  • I didn't test progressive, but don't see why not as the Sony Z5P one the cam it was designed to dock to supports two types of progressive.
