It's all about the enviroment where you grow up. As an example; most swedes are very good at English. But they will never be as good as real Englishmen. Simply because they haven't grown up with it. Debating with your parents, yelling at a friend, telling your loved one how much they mean. It all depends on what you use on regular basis. It's ofcourse harder too learn something you are not familiar with.

Well, no. Someone of the german "race" would have a lot easier to learn swedish than let's say, a russian, since they better can imitate the melody and noises of the language. We have a german exchange student in our school at the moment and after three weeks (not exaggerating) she spoke MUCH better swedish than the french guy we had for a whole year before. And actually the structure of the mouth that allowes us to talk, works in slightly different ways in different parts of the world.

Im a linguistics major. It is proven that race has nothing to do with capacity to speak a language, it just has to do with when you start learning the language. the German exchange student can speak swedish much more fluently because Swedish is closer to German, which is his mother tongue. if you raise an asian, a german and a russian in sweden since their birth they will all speak just as fluently. Language has nothing to do with race.

I am still in "gymnasiet", but I also study languages. And, it is too proven that race matters. Or, not race specifically, but fact is that evolution has changed the way our toungs works, even if so only a bit, just the same way evolution has given races different colours depending on their enviroment. If every person in a country streched their arms the wrong way, then generations later their arms would be able to bend so without trouble. The same with toungs adjusting to a way of speaking.

That's why asians have so much problem learning a european language, and vice versa. Because the different languages contains so many sounds that don't occure in the languages of the other "race". And evolution have therefor, over time, slightly changed our mouths and formed them to suit our way of speaking. So, yes! The matter of race is not to diminish when talking about learning languages.

That´s soo not true..I have severel adopted friends from different parts of the world and they speak Swedish perfectly..there is nothing wrong with their mouth allthough they come originally from countries far away from Sweden and our language...its all in the way you grow up...if your first speak french perfectly..it will be that much harder to learn a new language.....
