  • Well, she's perfect. So let it go.

  • what a song!!!!! how inspiring is it? just brilliant!!

  • Everything about this performance is INCREDIBLE - except the perm.

  • Fuck Barbra Streisand! Ugly Bitch.

  • Fuck Barbra Streisand! Ugly Bitch.

  • I still get misty when her background singers join her and she's so surprised to see them.

  • This is my favorite Striesand movie. I wish I had the money to go to one of her concerts, I would probably not see a thing from all the tears. Middle aged black woman having a fit over Babs. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but she is the only singer, well, maybe Judy Garland, that when they sing I get chills. i just cannot explain it.

  • Have you ever seen anything as sweet as Kris off stage at 1:39. SWEET!

  • I just can't write some casual coment to this incredible preformance, I'm to deeply affected. When she let loose the whole power of her voice the first time, somewhere around 1:40 ... Oh boy! I think i know now what an out of body experience must feels like! And then she just grow stronger, untill that final tone, and I think that if I was able to sing like this only once in my life I could die happily afterwards.

  • I love how this song showcases her gift! Her range is phenominal and her pitch, perfect! She may have never been stronger vocally than in 1976 when this movie was released. The song writting combination of her and Paul Williams was pure magic..Tis movie holds so many great memories...Sing it Barbra...

  • @Krazede WHO????? For 30 years Barbra has claimed SOLO credit for Evergreen. I can quote three instances where's she's done it publically. IF there is another songwriter on Evergreen, it's been a secret to Babs for a while. As well, if this guy is the writer of any part of that song, he should have stopped her from taking credit for whatever he SUPPOSEDLY wrote. As far as I'm concerned, Barbra wrote Evergreen. Period.

  • @MrsWLeach.... Lighten up lady, and I use the term, lady, loosely, Paul Williams co-wrote this song and a few others on this Soundtrack. I NEVER even insinuated he co-wrote "Evergreen." EVERYONE who is a true fan of Babs knows she was the sole writer of "Evergreen." AND anyone who is a fan of this Movie's Soundtrack knows who Paul Williams is. So, I will now gladly accept your apology, if you are woman enough to offer one!

  • @Krazede First off, I will say that you are correct and that Barbra Is the SOLE composer of Evergreen. On that, we are agreed. However, your mention of that ...sorry, forgot the name for a sec, williams and their combination being pure magic confused me. So I do apologize for that. I also apologize for being snippy, but when I see that other name in connection with that song, I get angry and lash out. Knee jerk reaction. I LOATHE that little creep with a passion! And I AM a lady. SORRY.

  • @MrsWLeach Streisand wrote the music, Williams wrote the lyrics. They BOTH won awards for it, including a Golden Globe.

Why would you loathe Paul Williams? Do you know him?

    h t t p : // awardsdatabase . oscars . org / ampas _ awards / DisplayMain . jsp?curTime=1322744247929

  • @geerterri Hi....technically, this is true. HOWEVER, Ms. Streisand has be CONSISTENT, for the past 30 plus years, in her contention of SOLE authorship of the song. IF paul williams had anything to do with it, you would THINK he would have contested her claims as publically as she made them. He never has. For someone with his reputation as a songwriter, he as no gumption for a fight he could have EASILY WON. I loathe his COWARDICE.

  • @geerterri The Timeless concert is one example of babs taking sole credit. Sun Devil Stadium (filming of A Star is Born) where she said, "I'd like to sing you a song I wrote MYSELF) . Also, if you key in SCTV DONNA , here, on youtube, there is a parody of Barbra on the Dina Shore show, but there is one piece that is very telling. "...Wasn't that song co-written with....?" "No, it wasn't." There is more than a grain of truth to that bit of humor.

  • fantastic movie. fantastic song. fantastic voice. fantastic woman.

much love for Barbra and her amazing talents! <3

  • @Love4Lovett " Loved this movie!" Beautiful lady!

  • Streisand & Kristofferson, one of the most successful pairings in a movie, ever! Up there with Burton & Taylor in "Cleopatra" or Bogart & Bacall in "The Big Sleep" Garland & Mason were amazing in their version of "A Star Is Born" but Streisand & Kristofferson were perfect.

  • @popazz1 I love this movie, best ever, but just FYI Elvis was asked to play this role.

    Would have been interesting.

  • @cljoyner39 ,

I somehow just couldn't see Elvis in Kristofferson's role.It would've totally altered the character,& not for the better.

  • she sang the shit out of that one - totally breathtaking

  • She is the best. Ever.

  • she is one of a kind, what a voice

  • Who cried at the end of this movie? I did...

  • @TheSheilman ,

Oh god yes,I sure did,& I was a 16 year old boy when this movie hit the cinemas! One of the best remakes of an already great movie,EVER!

  • if anybody watching there was actually there live for the filming I would LOVE to hear how it felt to experience this INCREDIBLE performance live!!

  • Knock 'em dead, Barbra!!

  • Kompis jag är här, vad är problemet?

  • I would like to hear Beyonce, or anyone currently supposedly a great singer duplicate Barbra's songs.. .they can't ... although celine orCristina Aguillera are great, they just can/'t do what she can, so effortlessly.. she has the best voice of all time...

  • @renidataylOooh... not sure I agree. I love Babs but you can't find any fault with Cris - she can do Babs and then some!x

  • I love her politics and her voice!

  • I do not like this womans politics......but she is a friken awesome singer no doubt.

  • Brava Barbra Brava!

  • T H E T O P ! ! !

  • 2:58... could you die?!...

  • This lady CAN SING ~ love the movie "A Star is Born" ~ and LOVE Barbra ~ a unique talent, indeed!

  • effortless singing!

  • So awesome! Great movie. Love this song.

  • Barbra will always be #1, this soundtrack is amazing.

  • BRAVO BARBRA... NADIE COMO TU...TU VOZ ES UNICA.. DIGNA DE UN MEGA HOMENAJE EN VIDA....

  • simplemente ENCANTADORA. MARAVILLOSA VOZ que ninguna otra cantante de los 70 tendria....que esperan para hacerle un homenaje en vida...BARBRA mis RESPÉTOS

  • the best!!!!!!!!

  • Super movie/super soundtrack and Super Streisand - fab :)

  • SAW this movie in 1976..not even aware of Streisand as a singer...it was just a big movie at the time.....she sang this and I was transfixed..completely blown away, bought the album next day....still love this to this day...sadly after 'The broadway album' she seemed to lose the real power in her voice...and often sounded like she was screaming....but the best female vocalit ever, the power and emotion unrivalled apart from Whitney.....

  • I remember having this soundtrack

    on 8 track cassette.

  • I love her and I absolutely LOVE HIM!!!!!!!! Kris is my Soul Mate!!

  • @kyolym,

What, you mean you still have it on vinyl?! All this time later? WOW,you must take real good care of it,lol! I envy you.I'm glad I have it on cd,but I do miss the vinyl, : (

  • Sorry -- I'm a major Streisand fan, but I still like the Garland version better...

  • ainda me emociono e, ao mesmo tempo acho muito engraçada a cena em 01:28... inesquecível, Thanks Babs!!!

  • God I love when Barbra sing this song...she has an amazing voice! Barbra is the best singer and preformer EVER!!!! LOVE YOU BARBRA <3 <3 <3

  • @streisand82 not anymore. It's easy to do this at her age then, but she cn't carry a tune now.

  • @chrissyparks2000 ,

    Lol,"can't carry a tune"? You're not serious,are you? The woman's almost 69 & can outsing many of today's much younger 'stars'! I guess it's all a matter of taste,meh!

  • she can really sing....

  • I love Barbara and all of her movies. She has A phenomenal voice. I would like to see A remake with A twist. I want Adam Lambert to play the Barbara role and an established female (ideas?) to play the Kris role. Adam has the voice and the charisma for the role. I think he could pull off A leading man part with A female even though he is gay. What do you think?

  • @kay396

    cAps LocK ChAllenGeD?

  • @gorillabelly1 Sorry, I'm confused by your comment.

  • @kay396 there are rumours that there is going to be a remake with beyoncé which is going to be produced by clint eastwood. I don't know if it is going to be as great as this version or the other 2, just have to wait and see

  • No one compares. I was at UCLA at the time and they played the movie at the dorm during finals, everyone, even those who never knew much about Barbra, was mesmerized, she's fantastic. the one and only...

  • Clap Clap Clap. I love this song. I love this movie. I love Barbra!

  • Amy Lee has been classically trained so I think she may come close to Barbra. However, NOBODY can out do her live performances, she is one of a kind.

  • Is there any female artist to reach the level of this colossas, i very much doubt it, truly an all time great. Thanks for the memories Barbra :)

  • Incredible. Just incredible...

  • Streisand was inspired by Robert Altman's Nashville and recorded all of the musical numbers live rather than using the usual method of lip-syncing to a pre-recorded track. That's why you'll notice differences between the film and soundtrack versions of the songs, e.g. the soundtrack version of Woman in the Moon does not include her surprised reaction to Clydie and Venetta. Very smart decision on her part because it gives the musical numbers incredible energy.

  • Can anybody even sing this good anymore?

  • I just love this song and Babs. 'I was born in a no you don't world' what a great line.

  • In addition to her amazing voice, the arrangements are awesome as well!

  • Ohhh where is this energy, spirit, soul and love to be seen again... I love it

  • MikesterSTLMO: I totally agree with you 100%!!! She will always be the BEST!!!

  • woman in the MOOD

  • cudna!!!!!!!!!!

  • Incredible singer! Kristofferson is HOT too! ":)

  • Incredible singer!

  • See,Streisand, even 30-something yrs later,STILL has what most of today's so-called 'stars' can only ever dream of,SUPERSTAR status! A Star is Born is one of the 1st albums I bought,as a 16 yr old back in '76,and I now have it on cd,tho it's just not the same as on vinyl. There isn't one track on that album which doesn't give me goose-bumps,and I can't think of any other album I can say that about! The 'critics' have panned her throughout her long career, but quite simply, she IS a world-class STAR!

  • @popazz1 BOUGHT THE ALBUM OVER 35 YEARS AGO AND STILL HAVE IT!

  • Barbra was right born to entertain. She's so natural and at ease. What a stellar performer.

  • BRAVO!!!! magnifica Barbra, por siempre.

  • Barbra knocks this one out of the park. What a gift she has.

  • i love her afro! very 70s!

  • I love her voice, how could someone deny how incredible it is.

  • I was just out of college and went to this movie having nothing else to do - my dad was a Streisand fan. This song blew me away and I've been a fan ever since! This is one superstar!!

  • The Village Voice doesn't know anything. Nobody cares about what they say.

  • Well, pullformore, this movie made a pile of money at the box office without "Elivs" who probably would had to lose about 100 lbs. first, or Diana Ross who couldn't have sung most of the songs in the film. It's certainly not my favorite movie but what you call "showing off" is skilled restraint for Barbra. She just has more talent than most people. Deal with it.

  • Village Voice, 1976: "A Bore Is Starred"

If only she hadn't shown off so much. Imagine this film done with, say, Elivs Presley and, say, Diana Ross. It might have had something interesting to say about the music industry in the post-1960's era.

Instead we got this insufferable piece of showing off. Oh well.

  • @pullformore IF YA GOT IT FLAUNT IT

  • Love the film and all the music! Fantastic!

  • took a girlfriend to see 'a star is born', was 18 then and have always loved this song and babs. The girlfriend is still my wife and we still love this.

  • Some of these notes are in another stratosphere. Amazing Barbra!!!

  • Um, ya'll, have any of you considered listening to her sing "Queen Bee" in this movie, then realize that she was actually rapping before it was really ever known. Now, take that song, do a little re-mixing and you got another Barbra re-mix with a hip beat. And just remember, I told you so!!!!!

  • i was watching the nanny one night you no the show with fran drescher and she always talks about barbra so i went to youtube and i heard her voice and i was amazed that someone could sing so beautiful and i watched her movies and they were great and i use to think whitney houston could sing you are a sensational women barbra i love you

  • This is an honest question: does anybody know of a performer who appears more comfortable on stage than Barbra Streisand? She's truly an awesome, powerful entertainer. It's like this is what she was born to do.

  • She took this song to a whole level of entertainment. Utter perfection.

  • Love it !

  • why dont they show the movie on tv......I watched it at the cinema when it came out and really enjoyed the film & the music but i have never seen it on tv...WHY?...put it on please

  • Comment removed

  • Sing, girl!! You have to hear it on an ipod to really hear the power. Excellent. No cover has come close.

  • No one can compare to the notes this woman hits and holds. I believe she is the greatest White Singer Soprano to ever hit the stage. Back in the 70's she blazed the trail for the Soulfoulness of many great singers to today such as Celine Dion and many others.

  • @LuvU2tube Ann Wilson of the band Heart hits more powerful high notes than Barb. But Barb is fabulous anyway.

  • I think it's funny how much she looks like Bob Dylan here. Of course Bob doesn't sing quite that well.

  • I love this movie and Barbara's voice is phenomenol

  • too bad she lost her voice bigtime.

I know she is almost 70 but still she can't sing nearly as close as she used to.

  • The voice is a muscle and like all muscles it becomes weaker with age. Instead of being rude and unfair by comparing old Barbra to a much younger version of herself you may want to take note of the fact that, for a woman of her age Barbra's tone remains remarkably clear, her breath control (based in stomach muscles) remains spectacular and her vibrato remains consistent. She hasn't "lost her voice" she has just aged. Whitney Houston, through crack use "lost her voice" there is a BIG difference.

  • @FoggyRoad81 I agree with you. The tone of Barbra's voice is still unbelievably pure and beautiful.

  • This brings back nice memories. I was in college when this movie came out.

In looking at this, I can appreciate her voice much more nowadays. She's

    enormously talented.

  • She was so desired by US (men) of my generation regardless of color or religion!

  • The movie was fantastic!! I have just watched it - again! and cried as much as I did in 1976 and I am now 54!! what a movie and story!!

  • she's soooo amazingly amazing!!! Her songs always give me goosebumps!

  • THIS HAD to be one of the BEST parts of the movie!!!!

  • Sing Barbra Sing!!!!

  • To all the doubters....this is LIVE! Legendary! Who would do that today? No one.

  • Not bad.

  • Her synchronization with the recorded playback was very exact, very realistic, but I wonder who really sang the vocals here?

  • She had her time, but she's not as young as she used to be. Check out the 2006 concert version of this song. You'll see how she's doing now

  • So God created Adam from dust, and later created Eve from one of Adam's ribs... but he wanted perfection, so he created BARBRA, and went to sleep.

  • @Croquisher7 -God did make adam and eve perfect in the beginning, before they disobeyed God and sinned.

Barbara streisand has an incredible great singing voice given to her by God but she is not perfect, only God is perfect.

As Gods word says- He does not sleep or slumber.

  • @kajehgb My GOD!!! You don´t know what is a metaphor???

  • Streisand sings the hell outta this song! Go BARBRA!

  • this was Barbras biggest selling album over 20 million copies at the time of release and still going strong

  • This movie came out the year i graduated high school.Being"different" myself, i cannot imagine a better time to be young and starting my life. Thanks Babs for the affirmation! Great time, great movie!

  • if there is such thing as the greatest singer barbra streisand is it!!!!!!

  • Barbra Streisand is the greatest star

  • An uforgetable scene...indeed my whole body was electrified the first time a heard that song from the movie. I was 15 the first time I saw that movie...This is a classic movie from the 70's

  • My best film ever. Saw it hundreds of time

  • I was 12 or 13 and I feel the same, if Ruseel crowe & Beyonce think they're gonna come close to this..good luck to em both...

  • are they coming out with another remake of this

  • i hope not

if they do i do not want to see the remake

  • I wish to thank my sis for my longtime love affair with this incredibly talented performer! She was in love with the film, and took me to see it on my 12th b-day!

  • there is so much to love about this film! Barbra's singing live, sounded amazing as usual. the clothes(which I adore) were her own! I wore my hair in the same style for a few years! I can't think of any singer who's nearly as versatile as Barbra!

  • Well, if Bruce had a wife with the voice of Barbra Streisand it would happen, belive me...

  • echt geweldig!!!

het is gewoon een super zangeres.

  • I always loved this movie - but this part is so ridiculous - It's like you waited months and months to see Bruce Springsteen at Giants stadium (and paid big bucks for your ticket) and he decides to bring this unknown woman out instead - and within minutes everyone is screaming and cheering for her. I don't think so!

  • Right back at ya Babs!

"When I think like an eagle my soul has no place on the ground!"

My way of thinking for 2010!

    I won't look down...

    Only onward & upward!

  • And,there we have it!I was 16 when this film and album were released and 33 years later both can still raise goosebumps!Just amazing! And when folk try to compare her to any other female singer, they generally fail, cos quite simply she is without comparason!

  • @popazz1 So Same except I was 14,,,,,,great thankyou..

  • Yeah, nael, many years ago, lol!but she still does it for me!waddya reckon, maybe i could get her to sing at my 50th,lol!

  • this ENTIRE soundtrack rocks...STILL!

  • No entertainer today could even come close to the thrill and excitement that Barbra generated during this era. This movie put her into an entire new level of superstardom. Her lung power here is amazing and she hits these high notes effortlessly. The critics may have ripped the movie, but it was a HUGE blockbuster and the soundtrack just as big.

  • @mikesterSTLMO oooooooooh, so agree...i saw this when I was ten and I love Madonna and am 42 but remember what it was like when the whole world was pointed at one thing...a hit movie was a HIT and a popular song or TV show was REALLY popular......it was intense....it's nice to hae a choice but....the old days are ......by-fucking-gone..........let's all move on.........like the rest of the past it must be accepted......too bad and ..........am sorry....... but.....................

  • @mikesterSTLMO Agreed. Brandon Flowers has an amazing stand-out talent, too.

  • I love this one Barbara Streisand!

  • This brings us ALL back to a better time,a better world...You Go BARBRA!!! You sing like an ANGEL!!!

  • I'd like to have this nose... and her voice. ¡¡¡THE BEST!!!!

  • the voice yeah!!! but the nose?? (think two times please!!! )

  • A great film, great songs, great actors. I could see this film for ever.

  • love that song!!! GREAT

  • I love This!

  • I saw this film 45 times at the movie theater in 1976 :) It was playing in 3 diferent theaters. And it was a sold out every single screening: 3pm 5 pm 7pm and 9pm during 4 months. I still Remember the looong lines to get the tickets. A star is born was #1 film at the box office in my country. I'm surprised to read some people find it awful. I still watch the dvd I still find it beautiful today :)

  • In what country was this movie a #01Box office grosser, Mr. Diaz?

  • In Venezuela Mr diuga1

  • Gracias, amigo.

I hear Caracas is a gorgeous city.

  • It is, it is diuga. I live in Barquisimeto.

I'd love to visit Rio one day :)

  • I hear you, I know I saw it about 25 times myself, love it love it love it. So many great scenes.

  • I' m totally agree with you, this was a classic movie from the 70's, an unforgetable story and music

  • watched this film again last night 10th oct. and in the year 2009 I loved your music when the film first come out and I love it just as much now. Thank you Babra for an amazing film with songs that will never be forgotten

  • I love when the girls come out and she's suprised to see them.

  • She is it, always was and always will be...no other one of her generation has done as well, 50 years singing and no signs to slow down...

  • SING THAT SONG GIRL!!!!!! One of my favorites - along with I believe in love of course!

  • To mikeyt62 you forget as well as other that barbra is jewish, jewish, italians amoung other "fair'd skin'd" people really don't need to put perms to make their hair afroic, it naturally thick and curly- cause yes, I know. FYI it also depends how much jewish one is cause I have jewish relatives that have part Irish/European in them and their hair is "flat". It amazing to me how culture wise people don't realize that.

  • LSM: Please forgive me for telling you "my woman in the moon"...

(Cause you and I are -still- changing that tune...)

    I Love you!!!

    I really do!!!

Thanks for the video... thank you Barbra!!!

  • She wore "that outfit" because it represented woman in a mans suit.

    Get over it

  • Nothing wrong with Streisand's vocal, to be sure, but that OUTFIT. How could anyone think - even then - that that pressed suit and fro were attractive?? This was really her goofball era - bad songs, silly attempts at being hip and a godawful movie. Still, she was a genius at keeping up with the times, no matter how banal those times were. In the end, it's her beautiful face and voice we care about.

For a lesser talent wouldn't have survived those times.

  • That was the 70s...polyester and afros! lol If you remember some baseball players - Don Sutton, Andy Messersmith and Gary Carter come to mind - all white guys who thought that it was cool to perm their hair. Go figure.

Nowadays, I guess they'd be wearing dreadlocks.

  • So wrong.. That movie and outfit were absolutely fabulous for the time.

And I think she and her outfit are quite attractive here, personally.

  • banal times?-and what of today and not even remotely interesting-or talented singers-or music -if you can call it music-Time is showing that the era of good music and artists is going going-gone-it seems to have exhausted itself--Oh yes and I agree -A Star is Born was a boring stupid movie-Streisand alone kept it alive with her singing and particular original songs

  • AMAZING!!

  • Got goosebumps and teared up at this. There is no better singer in the world than Steisand.

  • I was at the filming of this with my best friend Andy. She was amazing. Imagine hearing that voice live! Between takes she took questions and chatted with those of us that attended the filming at Arizona State University. The tickets were given out for free!

  • Um, ya sure.

  • Jealous much? Put down the drink and go to bed.
