both styles have amazing things, and both of them have elements the other doesn't have, also, both are from a gypsy culture.

other than that, I love both flamenco and gypsy music, so I realy liked the idea of putting these 2 musicians together Olé!

Stochelo has always been my hero and anyone who sits opposite him and can hold their own regardless of whether or not their ability is not to that of the greatest flamenco players is ok by me. @DhrRepelsteel Just because someone isn't technically as accomplished as another it doesn't make them an inferior player. They might have a style that appeals more because they aren't obsessed with showing how much they know all the time. I feel Bireli is more technically accomplished than Stochelo, but I'd much rather listen to Stochelo. He's my hero. I like Vaarzons style whatever standard you pigeon hole him in.

There is a definite flamenco influence in Stochelo's playing that comes from Django who was inspired by the genre.

the only one looser here is the guy calling this "battle"... Frustration of people which didn't have understand properly music, and what play mean is the base for this dumb things... But out of this, Stochelo plays more with his ears, it make the difference : for him music is a language, not a text learned by heart or a only show.

eric has  GREAT strumming technique, much better than stochelo in ways.. but he's severely limited by flamenco. once you go flamenco, you dont go back kind of thing.

Actually, the contest idea with a prize at stake is pretty silly. But the combination of flamenco and gypsy jazz makes a lot of sense, given that flamenco is gypsy music too. Great interplay between two guitar masters.
