  • You are right I can't pick a favorite . There are too many good ones.

  • Is Hooky wearing leather 'pants' as the Yanks would say?

  • This whole day at Reading is etched into my memory forever. CFCBarney recalls Peely dj'ing. I remember John Peel sitting down with us and buying us a drink when it was his round truly a hero who walked amongst us and a man with true humility

  • incredible

  • Breathtaking song, my favorite of New Order's. Thank you.

  • @goastsighting Its impossible to have a single favorite NO song. In fact if somebody put a gun to your head and said "Tell me your favorite now or I'll blow your brains out!" Yip they'd get splattered. It's tougher than Sophi's Choice. It can't be done. Oh there are those that'll try and say they do but they're lying

  • Went to this gig on the day I got my GCSE results . i passed 4 out of 10 . did i care . did I FUCK , what a night !

  • Absolutely classic tune, one of my favourite NO songs, but then they barely have a bad one so you're spoilt for choice

  • Love the Mancunian accent <3

  • Ah ! What a fucking nite...remember it well....just comming up on acid and a pucker !!! ACE TUNE !!!....Peely Dj'ed inbetween acts and dropped P E's '' She Watch Channel Zero'' New Order delivered that nite big time....x

  • @CFCBarney was there too buddy . . my sentiments exactly . . microdot heaven ;)

  • This song is a classic single that was never released! Damn Factory!

  • Government Goose

  • What was the 'new tune' that followed?

  • Hmmm actually the song they played after this was Temptation...obviously not a new one.

  • Hooky? WTF!!!

  • My gf some kind of cultist of this band, and now I think I'm getting hooked as too. This must be my favortie song, its just perfect in every way.

  • OMG Iooooooooove this song sooooooooooo much. Apart from Fine Time, Round & Round and Run this is my favourite song of the amazing Technique album.

  • Brilliance

  • what an album, what a band

  • One of my favorite New Order songs. Thanks for posting! :)

  • I'm joining in on the 'I was there too' ... this was a brilliant gig (it doesn't sound that great here but it was). N.O. had just finished a US tour and brought these huge speakers that sat out in the field - the sound was just crystal clear with the lasers scanning across the night sky...

  • saw them in the US that year in LI, New York. They were part of a triple bill w/ OMD and PIL. They called it the "New Music Seminar".

  • I was there too, though missed the start of the set as we went into Reading for a few beers and 'clear the guttering'. Got back pissed, fell asleep and awoke to hear the unmistakeable sound of New Order. Raced across and caught the last of the set. I'm pretty sure Hooky smashed his bass up at end ? Unless my memory serves me wrong. Old bastard now.

  • yeah hooky smashed his base and tried to light it unsuccessfully lol

  • Scary - I can still remember being there for this - the highlight of the year..cheers for putting this up (God, I feel old) :-)

  • New Order had a very hedonist year that year, barney actually burned his stomach lining from excessive pernod

  • Pernod, man that stuff smells awful but I've used it for dishes and it works well. Didn't know Barney drank that stuff, poor dude.

  • leo bike

  • SALFORD

    MANCHESTER

    LUZURIAGA

  • best no song

  • Barney looks like a stoned little puppy dancing...so cute & yet KICKS ASS!

  • this is amazing!

Oh God, bring this magic time back please!

  • I wish they would have brought back Vanishing Point in recent years; it's such a burner, particularly when Barney goes nuts (i.e. July 5, 1989 in Ohio).

  • My favorite song off Technique! Thanks

  • This takes me back to the USA89 tour where like a madman I attended all of the shows in North America and Canada (ok, I missed Puerto Rico!) In total I saw them 142 times between 1983 + 1989. The band you apparently see now on stage is a far cry from the band I remember. 8 tracks, saying nothing (except for vocally abusing the audience) then walking off. Encores in those days were NON-EXISTENT. IMO they were at their greatest between 1984 + 1986, and I feel privileged to have been a part of it.

  • Great New Order. I want to see the original MV for this song.

  • There isn't one.

  • There were some great bands in Reading that year. New Order, Swans, and Spacemen 3 to name just a few...It rained a lot though!

  • Great New Order song.

  • great stuff, thanks a lot for the video
