  • You are shit.

  • Temporary, no doubt. Remember that they are at alpha 5, far from finished.

  • I am a great proponent of Ubuntu and Open Source in general. And it because of that, I feel it is necessary to express the utter frustration I and many others would feel if this animation was the first thing new users will be greeted with.

I appreciate all of the great contributions that have been made to Ubuntu in the way of artwork and I sincerely hope that this release I won't have to be asked yet again about Ubuntu's less than stellar appearance to the average user.

there are several, and much better ideas, they shd use those.

  • Wont this slow down boot up time?

I thought they were trying to go for a 10 second boot?

  • Ugly

  • This is placeholder artwork. The final release will include a stable xsplash and prettier artwork.

  • big shit .!

  • Is this a joke?

  • What is that - a laser shine or something? Ummm... Doesn't Windows 7 already use something like this? Why are we constantly copying Windows?

I liked the Test04 animation better. Ah well... first time with a new splash package. Maybe 10.04 will look better.

  • @hyraxaus Windows 7 doesn't have a laser shine, it's a glowing Windows logo.

  • @winternight119 There's a laser shine on the "setting up your computer for the first time" screen in Windows 7 (OK, granted you don't see that every day).
