  • Had he only lived... There will never be another, and forever we weep for you, Mick.

  • Michael Collins is my hero

  • IVE NEVER HEAR THIS SUNG SO WELL AN WITH JOHNYS HART IN EVERY WORD YOUR A REAL IRISH MAN LAD....

  • This man Collins was the truest patriot that Ireland will ever have.Just an immotive and heart rendering song. Why was he murdered?

  • @englishsandy He was executed for being a traitor to Ireland and waged war against those who fought for Ireland's freedom. Collins recieved arms from the British army and swore an oath to the British king and his Free State army fought against the forces of the Irish Republic which was declared in 1919.

  • Beautiful.....

  • Dev himself said that Collins would probably be judged the better man in history. We cannot jusge where things would have gone had Dev gone to London and failed. I suspect the Big Fella would have been prime mnister at some stage later, but would not like o have guessed events from there.

  • It was Dev who said we will let the people decide. Then like the treaty when struck decided he changed his mind. The treaty in 1922 was the best result that was achievable at that time many Irish schols think if Dev wouldnt have had Micheal assasinated he probably could have gotten Ulster later. Dont let the mistaements of those who cloud history on one mans ego confuse you

  • The cause of the Troubles rest solely on the shoulders of Dev .The vote of the people of the Irish Free States backed the accords brought back by Mic. Devoler was an egotist American born with good intetions but his decision to wage war against his own people was his not Mics

  • Bullshit, the only reason the majority vote was yes, was because britain promised a war "the irish had never seen before" which probably involved another genocide, which the irish have experienced countless times in the past. Regardless of the general population, 7 out of 10 IRA men was against the treaty. They were the ones who suffered and were shot and lost there comrades right in front of their eyes and were subject to torture.

  • @fatherted101 well said, the genocide woudlve been on a scale never seen before, EVERYONE dead, it just shows how much england feared the irish rising

  • Ill admit he was good pre 1922

But why did he turn british guns on irish freedom fighters?

  • Shouldnt you be placing that blame on Damon

  • RIP Mick u will never ever be forgotten.

  • we irish hurt the british more then any other country. lol we killed the queens cousin for fuck sake. thats why they wont give us the north we fucked them up real good. however irish and english people are the same in every way. we could be good friends. but your country needs to recognise what your country did to us u people act like the victims when your clearly not. your contry started all this. were just finishing it. slan

  • we need to just enjoy this chuck...xxx

  • a classic, but no one will ever know the truth as to who shot, or, ordered the shooting of a true patriot of Ireland, some say he was getting to big for his boots, we could deduce who wanted rid of him! but there was not a man then, who could ever fill those boots.

  • Very beautifully sung, loved it.

Very difficult time in Ireland, and desperate for many. The Treaty was something the Irish had to agree to or there was a threat of war by the Crown so it wasn't a vote freely done, I think that was it, what little I know of it anyway.Correct me if I am wrong anyone !

  • A lovely song Johnny, and very well sung. God bless from Noreen.x.

  • proud to say that i was named after him

  • BIG DEV had michael collins executed because he was a threat to him,why did DEV walk out of the dail only to re join again four years later ,makes no sense .

  • Great Song! Is that a video from a programme made about our irish patriots? An where can i get it?

  • Ireland,a land full spirrit,nature,the history,the proud of people ,a great land.

that's can nobody you take away.

    Johnny Mcevoy great troubadour

    regard's The Netherlands

  • ireland. It depends what way you want to look at it. personaly I think he shud have told the brits to shove the treaty uep thier arse but again the subject is one that will allways divide opion amongest republicans.

  • When Michael Colins excepted the treaty from Lloyd George, it split Ireland and the IRA into two groups, pro-treaty and anti-treaty. Pro treaty excepted the partition of Ireland, with the remaing 6 counties in the north to remain apart of the uk. Anti treaty wanted complete seperation. the resulted in the irish civil war. Michael to sum was a legend and to some a coward. Some say that he should have refused the treaty and continued the fight, others say it was a stepping stone to wards a united
