The last decent car put out by Crewe was the Mk VI Bentley which almost fell to pieces in Australia when so many of them were bought by the sheep farmers during the wool boom. The Factory refused to even countenance claims of poor design and simply forged on patching as they went.

I think its correct that the factory refused to admit poor design when there are thousands of them elsewhere in the world without issues..

I agree but by inference they claimed it would stand up to anything. We don't have rednecks in OZ just vandalistic bastards not perhaps unique to this country. And the outback damage was simply on then major roads albeit unsealed. Chassis cracking was quite common yet the Factory refused to even correspond about the subject. The solution came from an Australian Service Manager who devised mods which without any credit were totally incorporated into the 'M' series cars onwards.

Let's not knock the efforts of VW and BMW. If it was not for them there would be no more Rolls-Royces or Bentleys. The long term employee claiming heritage is typical of the RR ethos for the past 50 years. Rely on bullshit based on the achievements of the people who designed and built these cars in the first half of the last century.

Are there aftermarket disappearing hood ornament kits? The Phantom has the hood ornament that slides down into the grille when you turn off the car. That seems like it'd be a great feature to retrofit to older Rolls-Royces, too..

Rolls Aero only sold the rights to the name to BMW. The Rolls factory and the workforce are now dedicated to the BENTLEY BRAND ONLY. The present Roller is a Munich made kit car assembled in Goodwood.Henry Rolls would turn in his grave.

I think not!! on a day to day basis we make more phantoms and phantom drophead coupes for United Kingdom than we do for China. USA is the main importer although we have seen a rise in sales to abu dhabi and United Arab Emirates.
