Ford needs to start selling this Ka in the US. They don't have a small hatchback in the US and they desperately need one. We have the Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent, Chevy Aveo, and Kia Rio. Come on Ford! The Fiesta is a nice start, but why no Ka?

Yes it's strange. Ford had been building big cars for a long time. Just in the past few years they've started modernizing and downsizing models. The models they sell in Europe they don't typically sell in the U.S. and the models they sell in the U.S. they typically don't sell in Europe.

The biggest problem I have with my Ford Ka is that it is too underpowered for the weight of the car. Ford decided to detune it so it would comply with the new low emissions so it is not very nice to drive unless you thrash the engine, which makes having a fuel efficient car pointless. It is so juddery on the downchange with the aircon on even if you double clutch. A very poor car.

been racing fords for a while- currently racing the old ford KA until the end of this season then the new one for next season. Have to say recent drives in the new one seem pritty awsome. Still love my old type though

Hey guys. Looking for some advice. I'm a car novice. I know nothing. But I've finally decided to get a car after having my license for 12 years. But being unemployed it would have to be a 10 year old second hand car, probably through autotrader, for around £500. I know I know, that isnt much but I'm unemployed and on an extreme budget. I have £1000 to spare from my last job and taking into account new parts, mot, road tax, insurance etc plus the car itself it'll all add up to around £1000

So what I'm looking for is a lil help in finding out what the best most economical car for me would be. Plus one with the absolute lowest insurance group.

I've tried finding out myself but since I dont know anything about cars I'm not really getting anywhere.

I'm thinking of this as an investment. The further and more conveniently I can travel the more likely I'll find a new job... I hope >_>

Anyways, any advice would be really helpful. Thankyou.

the thing is it does not handle as well as the orignal KA. Mind oyu its still better than similar competition such as the corsa, clio, micra, fiat 500 etc.

I'd get one if they put a higher spec engine :-)

there are rumours of a 1.4 turbo 99bhp KA (to replace the 94bhp 1.6 SportKA) now that will be worth considering due to its power to weight ratio!

I agree . With the turbo groundwork done by the factory Ford or Cosworth could make additional performance parts and these could create quite a following .

Ford will never bring that car to N America though . They want to sell cars but there remains a problem and thats trying to sell grandma cars when europe gets the cool stuff .

Yeah, those rumours are true. The 1.2 and 1.3 are from fiat. Their 1.4 turbo is going to be used in the sport ka.
