People walked on and/or near railroad tracks for WELL over a century and it's EXTREMELY difficult NOT to know when a train is close by because 1) the rails begins to make that "rattling"/"sizzling" noise well be fore the train is seen 2) unless you are near deaf you WILL hear a train coming in the distance in which you simply look up and see from what direction.
People who get hit by trains are 1) wanting to or 2) COMPLETELY distracted, by say a cellphone or 3) like I said deaf.
I know of two people personally who have been hit by trains, one was very drunk and was playing chicken with some friends, she was a little to slow. The other was very drunk and thought the railroad tracks were a road, and was driving down the track. Luckily for that guy the train was going in the same direction he was driving, and though the car was ruined he was relatively uninjured.
Do they even use the tracks that run parallel to the BART train tracks. I know the second pair of tracks that runs by the coliseum are used because amtrak and freight use them. Its the tracks that run underneath BART i'm confused about the tracks are rusty and filled with trash, I never see any trains run on them when I pass by them. Can someone give me an answer.

Why don't they put high fences by the tracks or barbed wire around them like they did with the San Diego Trolley, AND the Amtrak and Coaster here? It's not that hard to install them, or why don't you put a street on both sides of the tracks so it will be more accessible to pedestrians.
The Southern Pacific between San Jose and San Francisco is very busy, has been since it opened in 1863. This stretch of tracks is shared between Southern Pacific Freight and CalTrain. CalTrain by day, freight by night. From San Jose to Gilroy, CalTrain operates during commute times only, VTA 68 takes over for the rest of the day.
To you idiots being filmed on this and other videos. GET OFF THE train tracks.. tracks are ONLY for trains, not for people! Tracks are EXTREMELY DANGEROUS as train arrivals and departures are always unpredictable!
