  • All that and he cancelled Firefly too!

  • When this hideous man finally dies, who will lament over his passing? No one. He will have left a karmic legacy of meanness and pandering that will take many many ages of suffering in Dante's Inferno to atone for.

May the decent people of the world soon be rid of the demagogues, bullies, and deceivers like Murdoch and Limbaugh that currently dominate the public's airwaves.

  • "Suck my arse!"

  • That copyright date does not make the least bit of sense.

  • if it wasn't for Rupert Murdoch, we wouldn't have Fox. without Fox, we wouldn't have "House, MD." without "House, MD," Hugh Laurie wouldn't have become fabulously wealthy and famous (in America, anyway).

(nb: i like "House, MD" and Hugh Laurie and i despise Rupert Murdoch. but even i can see the ironies here.)

  • @tsartodd i just hope you dont see them as having similar motives. Murdochs a cunt and nothing else.

  • @tsartodd I don't think the commentary is really directed at Fox's non "news" ventures. It is his "news" outlets that are and were the problem.

  • Hahahaha Brilliant sketch. All hail fry and laurie.

  • It reminds me a french movie "Angel-A"... O_o

    Fry & Laurie FTW~! <3

  • Rupert Murdoch actually brought about the vision of the "Blue Meanies" Britain from the Yellow Submarine crtoon ...as much as I hate to admit it , the Beatles had a point (and I`m not just talking about Ringo`s head...)

  • Murdoch gone? It could be on it's way to happening!....But then he'd almost certainly be replaced by someone equally bad.

  • This is brilliant, but to be fair, as much as I dislike Murdoch we can't blame him for the Daily Mail.

  • ...Henry Travers had a much more convincing American accent than Stephen Fry at this point.

  • Impressive Australian accent there Hugh. Bewdy.

  • I hope these Murdochs have had their wings clipped permanently. It is frightening to learn of the sway they held -especially Rupert - over the elected politicians of our nation.

  • @Corrie121

has that just come to your notice Corrie?

  • Think I left a word out in there. As a grammar Nazi, I am deeply ashamed.

  • Murdoch will figure prominently in any discussion about the decline of western civilisation, and the rise of corporate fascism. He has at least shown us how vulnerable an open society can be without the due vigilance of its people. We allowed this parasite to sap the strength of our news organisations that once helped protect us, using them to subvert and manipulate public opinion, and further corrupt our public institutions.

  • @greyareaRK1 Now I kinda wish I look decades into future and see what the history books have to say about old Rupert.

  • @greyareaRK1 I agree that Rupert Murdoch sucks heartily, but that's really not a correct usage of the word "fascism".

  • @auitane corporate fascism - the merger of corporations and government wherein corporate interests dominate. Interestingly, I looked up the definition of corporate fascism last year and found many citations, but Google can't seem to find one today....

  • @greyareaRK1 i had a chat with this dumb girl who works in a xerox room, i said something similar about murdoch and she said how dare i say anything about 'my sun' - the woman is stupid like most of the morons in the UK, they are so thick if you threatened to throttle them with a rolled up sun newspaper - they would still buy it - dumb fuckers, dumb country.

  • @shahideurope

Luckily we have a shining light to teach us about the evils of arbitrary intergroup discrimination and vast generalisations eh?

  • @gamerunknown to describe Sun readers as thick is not to generalise, it is to make the most profound and accurate statement in history. Devoting the third page of a national newspaper to a woman's breasts is thick. Buying a newspaper which shows a pair of tits on page 3 is totally thick.

  • @shahideurope

You wrote "dumb fuckers, dumb country" and "most of the morons in the UK": that's a very hasty generalisation considering the Sun has a peak daily readership of 11% of the country (7m readers). In fact, your youtube profile says you're from Germany, the country where "Bild" is published and which prominently features breasts on its front page on the wikipedia splash. I don't think it's a national problem, I think its an international problem resolved by education.

  • @gamerunknown I am not German, I am not from Germany, that's the German bashing out of the way. Yes, the 7m fuckwits who read The Sun everyday are dumb fucks, no doubt about it. Germany is the powerhouse of the European economy, we - I am a Brit - can learn from them.

  • @shahideurope

Well, what criterion are you using? Bild's average circulation surpasses that of the Sun (6th largest circulation in the world, largest in Europe), meaning there's a greater amount of German reading "dumb fucks" than English reading "dumb fucks", to borrow your phrase. The Nordic countries, especially Norway due to its oil reserves frequently top Germany, so it's not purely an economic decision. Based on your rabid nationalism, I'd assume you were a tabloid reader...

  • @gamerunknown rabid nationalism, when it comes to hating an Australian-American bastard who owns most of my country's media and controls my elected politician through intimidation, blackmail and bribery - I am the most rabid nationalist ever.

  • @greyareaRK1

Thing is, if he hadn't been there, someone else would have :(

  • Comment removed

  • He gets his wings.

  • dr. house???

  • Too funny..Made my night=)

  • What a wonderful life (especially the ending).

All the American and British soldiers and innocent civilians (they weren't all "guilty" and don't forget Iraqi babies that have died) that wouldn't have died in Iraq if Murdoch and the other corporations hadn't compliantly spewed propaganda before the Iraq war, coercing the public to believe the damned lies.

    Bastard.

  • "I wouldn't wish death on anyone," Dennis Potter did.

  • :O John Bird!

  • I wouldn't wish death on anyone, but he's not a pleasant man. There are many other, albeit less successful, Rupert Murdoch's behind most of our media outlets today. He's an obvious face to blame, especially in light of recent events, but we should heed them as a warning against many institutional malpractices, not just assume it's localised to the Murdoch Empire, or even just to the media.

  • Briliant just brilliant - dance on his grave tommorow

  • Spot-on.

Murdoch is toxic to democracy and a nasty piece of work to boot.

  • This is extremely accurate.

  • Very funny, but in reality it just would have been someone else. :P

  • isn't that the guy from "House"?

  • @desertdoggz Hugh Laurie. Yes.

  • @desertdoggz Yes.

  • @desertdoggz No, it's the guy from Black Adder.

  • @artgoat Or both...

  • @senorfreebie ;-)

  • Rootit Murderlot RIP

  • Twat.

  • Great ending! Wish it had happened! No Fox...no Bush...no 9/11...no Iraq...no huge deficit...no revoking of all of Clinton's environmental initiatives, actual green innovations...OUCH!

  • @dogloverlcp Well yes but if I stole someone's wallet the fact that it's not as bad as if I'd beaten them to death wouldn't really help matters.

No one does it to the same degree as fox, he may not be the worst in the world but he is certainly not close to decent.

  • @dogloverlcp Go eat a dick. Enjoy.

  • All we now need is a Roger Ailes version replacing the now departed but "sainted" Ruppert Murduche. "Well shake me twice" if the Fox "news" honcho Roger Ailes doesn't have a "brain room" over at Fox "News" headqtrs built in the 90's as an adjunct to Dick Cheney's efforts (while at Halliburton) to hack the phones of every politician Dem & Ray-pub alike in preparation for his coronation as the de facto President who chose that Bush fella to lose the popular vote & front for him for 8 yrs
  • Did I hear a bell ring at the end of the clip? Should have.

  • If Rupert Murdoch wasn't born, Al Gore would have been president of the USA. America would have been in and out of Middle East quickly. And, there would be no recession.

  • @maillort It's almost sickening to realize how different the world would be without one or two of these assholes changing world events by just pushing things past the tipping point for people.

Still, a different man instead of Murdoch would have eventually done it. It's human nature to be greedy and accumulate wealth and power, and it's human nature for the masses of stupidity to believe what the media tells them to.

  • @maillort you are an idiot...

  • @theRickShadow You are an idiot and a loser.

  • watch out-foxed... Murdoch's raping of Americas soul

  • Wow, this is from 1995 and it's amazingly prescient!!!!

People like Murdoch have existed before, but at a much more local level. Their damage was much smaller in scope.

Now, are you less impressed by Hugh's Aussie accent if you know that his normal accent is British, not American like Dr. House?

  • Presumably Murdoch is modeled on Ebenezer Scrooge from Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol'.

  • What can I say, but "brilliant!" Only thing, I would have liked more references to Faux News....

  • Makes me laugh. People would get on if he wasn't around making people hate each other.... but then what is the aim of sketch if not to make people further resent R Murdoch?

  • @perfacetus I suppose it's about hating him for important reasons like dividing races and things that should be otherwise insignificant.

  • BTW, when was this filmed?

  • @AtheistinFundyLand It's old, a bit of fry and laurie hasn't been on telly since the 90s

  • Bet Rupert'll be saying "Get me the cock out of here!" to his lawyers at the Commons Select committee next week.

  • Awesome I've been watching Fry and Laurie on netflix this past month. haven't got to this point yet. Wonder if its season 3 or 4. looking foward to watching the whole episode

  • @phalanxzero This must be recent.

  • Excellent . . . love it!

  • I like Stephen Fry's American accent.

  • wooooooo well done you beautiful, intelligent and witty gentlemen, everything that murdoch isnt lol

  • No sound

  • if only

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

  • Bloody brilliant!

  • I think R Murdoch's empire is serious dangerous. But I don't think this does a good job of slating him.

He wants to be rich? So, do most people. He introduced 'tits'. Well lets face it, he didn't introduce the concept of 'sex selling' papers or mags did he?

So his papers are right wing? Well I thought that was the idea of pluarity of the press, you have some left wing media (Guardian, BBC etc) some right (Times, Daily Mail etc)

They should have focused on his empire under mining pluarity.

  • Fry works for sky , he who fucks nuns

  • @CHANNELOMD I find it amazing that today anyone who did business with Murdoch is being told again and again they can't speak up, very disturbing, the guy it an utter sickness

  • @rober1236jua WHAT?

  • Hopefully the Sun will be next

  • Hugh Laurie's Australian accent is impressive

  • @jryan6969 Anyone else catch the irony that Fry seems to have become the establishment apologist of choice. Recent BP/Haliburton TV puff piece of an 'enquiry' he made into the gulf oil 'spill'.

  • Anyone else catch the irony that Hugh now works for Rupert in the states?

  • "You pretended it was to give people more choice,

instead it was to make you fabulously rich".

Exactly, Bravo to F&L, and may Rupert be gaoled for his crimes to democracy.

  • Oops, sorry, I clicked on the dislike thing by mistake..d'oh I can only assume the other 6 did the same :-) Excellent stuff

  • How true is this?

  • And now he's destroyed News of the World. Why did he shut them down if they only did what he told them?

  • @mutatron To save public image. The paper had become a national embarrassment so they had to go, before the corporation's reputation got any worse (hard to conceive though that possibility is...).

  • And still, lets face it, it is also us, who support him and his doing with our money, our lazyness and our ignorance. Wouldn't we shy away to take closer looks, he wouldn't have the power that he has.

  • Keep a hacking Rupert. Ya wee shitter.

  • Why can't someone push Rupert Murdoch off a bridge? They pushed Robert Maxwell off a boat.

  • @WorldNews92 Because an eye for an eye makes us both blind

  • @MERCER12OLI It really doesn't.

  • @MERCER12OLI Fantastic piece of advice...

    ...but...

    ...Blindness or...News Corporation. Mmm...

  • @WorldNews92 That's a great point. I'd take infertility if newscorp never existed...

  • If the ghost of Christmas Past showed up for Rupert... he'd have to do it on Halloween.

  • It's interesting to see Hugh Laurie go after Rupert Murdoch, but isn't "House" owned by Fox?

  • @Dyrielle Are you retarded? This was made in -95 or something...

  • @J11h00

Of course I know that this clip was made way before "House". I just think its funny that Laurie is technically working for this man now. No need to be so mean... :(

  • @Dyrielle Yeah that was a bit harsh.. sorry

  • "Get me the cock outta here!!" - That's actually the same thing i always say when people start singing christmas songs around me...

  • "Get me the cock out of here!!"

  • Interesting how Murdoch was a notorious figure even back then.

  • So true. This man should have grim reaper vist not angels.

  • It is sickening what this beast Murdoch has done to the Fourth Estate and the United States. The US is more divided now as a country than at any time since the Civil War.

I hope our British cousins are more successful and can contain the Anti-Christ.

  • @tehenry agreed

  • Rupert Murdoch - America's #1 illegal immigrant, he should be deported or tried for TREASON and SEDITION. What a miserable life he has had, foisting his seething resentment on decent people. If only more people knew he made his fortune by putting naked women in his newspapers, he hasnt changed a bit.

  • @pn2543

He should be deported? Fuck no! Australia doesn't want him back!

  • @wompwomble agreed.

  • @pn2543 You stupid prude.

  • @pn2543 Hey now, deportation? That's a bit harsh for us Americans, isn't it? Can't we work together and send him to SIberia or something?

  • @pieman419 please don't send him back here !!!!!

  • Ironic as his show is showing on Fox

  • If only this were true! A world without Rupert Murdoch would be a far better place!

  • I love Stephen's bizarrely earnest American accent. It's so annoying!

  • fry's accent is amazing~~~

  • @kashmiridibber Bloody oath - sounds pretty Aussie and only Meryl Streep has pulled that off before.

  • Well now this could be any conservative conglomerate named Rupert.

  • @samuraikarasu

He's really a liberal. He only is into the conservative media because he wants to make money.

  • John Bird randomly driving the cab...

  • How on earth did I miss this episode?

  • As them little Guiness fellers always say: Brilliant!

  • Well suck my ass! Who the hell is that?

  • Magnificent Piss-Take of "Its a Wonderful Life" and unlike George (whom the world would miss dearly ) we would all be "Punching the Air" if this Arse Hole had never been born. Bloody Hillarious Post.

  • I hate this sketch because it's so fucking true.

  • "Well shag me twice, water must've healed my cut"

"Well suck my arse, who the hell is this?" ;D

  • "get me the cock out of here"

Lol, briliant. Who can think of this stuff?

  • this is pretty awesome.

  • Except possibly Mitchell and Webb no one but no one can come up with this

  • @archeronfoot they don't write Peep Show. You may know this and therefore be basing your comment on their terrible sketch show...not sure which is worse.

  • Oh, it's like heaven!

  • I love this so bloody much.

    "Twat."

  • The world would be a much better place.

  • Rupert Murdoch is the worst person in the world!

  • @RichardSwayne Well, don't you think, that the last three letters of the surname are, in reality, a most unfortunate mistake? They should have read "er", indeed.

  • @nmpost7 Ture

  • no rupert murdoch?

well, for starters no Fox network....

  • no Fox would be Super

  • @diecheney I agree, but I wish there was a news network on the right that wasn't composed of crazy people to replace it

  • @Golkarian There is, it's called PBS.

  • What? I don't see any downside there. No fox news, no family guy... A few seasons of the Simpons would be lost and that'd be a shame I suppose, but ultimately the benefit far outweighs the negative!

  • they would be picked up by other broadcasters...

  • you realize a bit of fry and laurie was on the bbc right?

  • Yes that is why is said "international fame" eg all around the world

  • (thats good)

  • lol "get me the c*ck outta here!!"

that was the best line :)

  • I wonder if it was Hugh who actually fell in the water!...

  • If only, if only...

  • my man Wayne will crsuh murdoch! give hiom a hand (episode 11)

  • They ought to show that in schools.

  • GET ME THE COCK OUT OF HERE

  • This is delightful for so many reasons, not least the faithful recreation of It's A Wonderful Life (Stephen's American accent!!)

  • haven't seen it. i took the snow and b/w for a touch of citizen kane.

  • Oh, it's a splendid film! You should watch it... next Christmas!
