This has to go down as one of the best Grammy performances ever. Melissa was near exhaustion by the time she finished the song. That she came out at all when she was in the middle of treatment is just unbelievable, but a lucky for us fans. Melissa ruled! Joss - Not so much a fan. She just sounds screechy to me.

I loved this, no one can ever do Janis properly. She's just way too freakin' awesome for that. But they did her justice. Joss has a kinda rawness to her voice and Melissa is just plain soulful. They're both awesome. Loved it heaps!!!

I didn't grow up on Janis Joplin, no one in my family has listened to her music but I have learned about her. If it wasn't for this performace i may not have ever heard these two songs. I love Joss and Melissa's versions they rocked the house.

You should hear also the hungarian Janis Joplin! She is Magdi Rúzsa, she won the Hungarian Idol (Megasztár) 3! She and Joss is my favourite, but Magdi in Janis's song is better.

whenever i watch this clip, i fast forward to melissa etheridge's appearance. of COURSE janis is imitated, never duplicated. that's why it's called a tribute!!! and it's the grammy awards!! it's a celebration of profit and record sales, with a few homages thrown in. still, etheridge's performance cuts because she sings with the same desperation. and that scream is at every single demon that has ravaged her body and attacked her life. for the grammys, this is powerful stuff.
