I practically ditched the entire 8th grade to lay in bed and lsiten to my dad play this on his Steinway piano. He was a concert pianist. You made me cry tonight dude!
Look, you can't just throw something like that out there and let it just hang like that. That's one of the most beautiful arrangements of DeBussy I have ever heard. Do you have (or sell) the tabs for it?
I would be so greatful If you would be so kind and send me score or guitar tab so If this is possible just reply on this comment and I ll send u an email adress
this is the best arrangement out there by a wide, wide margin. i was starting to work on my own version in the correct octave like this, but this is better, quite frankly. simply awesome.
I wish with all my soul that I could perform as well on guitar as you. I can do some stuff but my capabilities are now in the hands of onlooking and wishing. sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Great job man. Absolute props to you.
Not only is this arrangment incredible, but the fact that you have to perform on the fly down-tunes and tune-ups on the E-string is simply immense, never mind the amount of artificial harmonics flying about! If there was a tablature for this it would look rediculous. Have you been playing since birth?!
I thought I was an accomplished guitarist but I'd never be able to play this.
Hey, I really enjoyed this version quite a bit, the harmonics on the tops notes send this version above the rest. You make your imperfections into perfection on this piece, great job. What is your sugestion for nail growth, and are you plucking some of those harmonics in the beginning by the bridge of the guitar or are you doing something with your left hand?
Hey, I really enjoyed this version quite a bit, the harmonics on the tops notes send this version above the rest. You make your imperfections into perfection on this piece, great job. What is your sugestion for nail growth, and are you plucking some of those harmonics in the beginning by the bridge of the guitar or are you doing something with your left hand?
In my oppinion, you couvered this song for guitar, as good as one possibly can. I admire someone like you, who puts up the effort to do something like this. Bravo!
@treestomp222 haha, hey alexis how are you doing? ey well the arrangement I've been working on is for a non cutaway guitar. But unfortunately I haven't figured it out yet, and though this performance isn't great, it's good enough, and besides, I have a good take on my 2006 album Unconditional... I am sure I will do this again though, it was a lot of fun to play at shows for years!
@ClaireDeva That's a really nice comment !!! You understand exactly my point. When you are faced with the challenge of creating an arrangement of a piece that contains more notes than the guitar is capable, you have to use other techniques to create the same "feeling." So yes, it is weird, to hear a classical arrangement that is *incorrect* in some places, but the "feeling" is correct. I studied this style of arranging from Kazuhito Yamashita records, he is a master of that style.
@jazzpsalti I really REALLY hate when people compare an individuals music to others... its like comparing a painting or something! No matter what you play/paint, each person is going to hear something completely different and individual. I think you played it perfect, and if there were any errors....well your the only one that would know because your the Obviously it is not the equivalence of a verbatim, but it was damn good!! hahaha wish i had the talent!
@ClaireDeva you have some mistakes in your comment, maybe you shuould think about reading what you type before you post it? your comment didn't make me feel anything inside, like some of the other comments did.
Wow man, you really outdid yourself, clair de lune has always been my ultimate favorite, but first time i hear it on guitar and I must say, you've inspired me.
Did you need to study harmony to do this version? By the Way there are some mistakes in some parts, However believe me I can't play even the first 10 seconds of your version. Keep practicing and good luck man!!
@BeauJames59 I actually did shape it up, and then fell out of shape because I don't often play cutaway guitars anymore. And then I did the video. Give the album version a listen!!!
Lovely rendition, I wasn't sure at the beginning but you sold me, if you happen to read this, are you in standard tuning, and did you happen to write your arrangement down on sheet music by any chance? I think people would buy it if you put it up somewhere.
Why does everyone make such a big deal about him changing one string's tuning during a pause? I'm sure even he would tell you this is not a big deal, simply an alteration born from necessity due to the arrangement. The arrangement is absolutely wonderful though, and the harp harmonics are superbly performed. I'm sure that since this video, you've gotten even better at pulling them off.
I believe he changed the tuning of the 6th string up to D so he can get that RICH, FULL bass of the 6th string (rather than fretting it on a thinner string).
Very nice played, I think the guitarlovers will rather listen to this than the pianoversion; but for myself I stick to the pianoversion; With piano you can give alot more feeling to it
@JorgeProduct I wouldn't say that. A guitar player better than me might be able to put in more feeling... Let's not diss the guitar itself, but I agree, I like the full original more than my own arrangement.
@jazzpsalti you're crazy if you prefer the original version more than your arrangement! I play the guitar, I am not an expert and just because i love classical music and many piano pieces sometims I have the desire to play the piano rather than the guitar. but this video just let me want to run to take the guitar and start to make the fantastic clair de lune you've played wonderfully. i don't know if my english is correct but.... thank you is all i want to say!
please! I'm 17 and inlove with this song and this arrangement how can i learn this? teach me? a quick video or if you could explain it in a compressed form that wouldn't take up too much of ur time please!!! I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT! Meanwhile, I'll watch this endlessly until i can do it thank you sincerely, Alexis
Absolutely beautifully. Anybody who isnt convinced that this song cannot be played on solo guitar after watching this video needs to take their head out of their ass.
@jazzpsalti nice. u made the tuning switch look more difficult than it was. excellent job, i will be looking at this video in a couple weeks to try to learn your style. beautiful song
I love playing this song on the piano and never thought any other instrument could do the song justice, but I must say I like your arrangement. Total props for all the re-tuning and having the best guitar cover i could find on youtube
Great idea with reverb... never thought that Claire de Lune can be played on guitar (properly). I mean people do play it, but they play some sort of shortcut versions taking some parts away.. 10/10 (:
yes, this is on my 2006 release, "Unconditional." Available in mp3 format on whatever website you like, or iTunes, and also available in hard copy again by the end of the week.
