The atomic bombings were an unfortunate occurance. Imperialism had taken over Japan. When the U.S. was prepping to invade the Japan island the emperor told all the citizens to fight the U.S. troopers. So they prepped and became fighters. This would have led to a bloodbath that would have lasted years. So the nukes were used.

when i got back from afghanistan the flew us to Indianapolis so we could finish our out processing and we all went home by bus and they had firefighters, police, and all kinds of people lining the streets cheering and waiving american flags it was just so awesome to see all of these people come out to cheer for people they don't even know and I thank every single one of them and anyone who supports our boys!

Old women were pushing through the crowd, grabbing random soldiers & giving us hugs. In a way, it was kindof embarrasing because we dont do it for the attention, but it was really nice to see that people cared

August this year I was in Atlanta too, and there were some troops coming back. I was just eating my Wendy's burger and tears got into my eyes when everybody clapped. I'd never seen troops returning, but you could just feel how everybody in that hall became one. You could feel how much respect there was for these soldiers. This is one of the moments when I hate to be an atheist, because I feel the right thing to say is: God bless them all.

you know it used to be like this...used to... not anymore this war and our service is like sex back in the olden days, no body wants to talk about things that are done behind closed doors, now sex and celebs and all these nfl stars get all the claps for making a goal or scoring a touchdown. I remember taking this walk on my way home for R&R while deployed to Iraq. I was deeply humbled by the gesture and I will never forget how great Americans are.

I would have liked to stay and thank everyone of them for this gesture. I don't know if they realized how uplift that was for us. We were all tired and quiet until that moment; it truly made everyone's day.

@XKEITHNJX -usually if you see an entire unit coming back and every single soldier is wearing a combat patch (patch on right sleeve under the flag) then you can pretty much bet they've just come from a combat zone...at least when it's an Army unit
