gerbilsmith- I will be happy to cut through any historic armor you are willing to provide. Be aware however, if mail / Maille / Maelle was impossible to cut warfare would have ended long before the midddle ages .
@gebilsmith - Thank you for checking out our video. Yes it is butted modern maille and no we are not trying to mislead anyone. We are very forthcoming about what type of maille it is. We are using it for demonstration purposes to show the difference between the energy/ force required to cut an armored vs. an unarmored opponent. As well as how this will affect your fighting. I wish we could afford to do some full scaled tests on historic maille!
were you guys using butted maillle by chance? If your able to cut through maille it was either butted or poorly made. Many other groups, and myself have cut on both butted and historically acurate Maille and the results are quite different. All butted maille falls apart on contact, but good, historic maille will take the blow and stay intact always; regardless of being a hard thrust with a tapering blade or a strong cut with a wide blade. Using butted for a historic demo. is kinda misleading
