My guess is that you were able to defeat the crocodile without the explosive and the Tyrant in it's final form without the rocket launcher because you were playing on easy scenario. On hard scenario, they're programmed to only be defeated through those 2 means.

I need to specify you cannot obtain the infinite rocket launcher in easy or hard scenarios, only normal scenario. My tests with the infinite rocket launcher against the crocodile were done on normal scenario and I wasn't able to defeat it. I've tested trying to defeat the crocodile on hard scenario with the grenade launcher and it is impossible. I even used the infinite ammo code (available on Resident Evil 2 Platinum, the PC version).

I'm an avid hard scenario player (Resident Evil 2 Platinum for PC) and have tested it with both Leon and Claire. The original Resident Evil for Playstation only has easy and normal scenarios so maybe you're able to on those scenarios. I've even used the infinite ammo code (done on the status screen, only available on the PC version) in my tests and I can confirm on hard scenario it's not possible. As for the crocodile, I've read it's possible in easy scenario but no confirmation in the others.

I just found a video here of a guy killing the crocodile with a knife. I don't know how it's possible but he does it. The reason I say this is because I have personally tested killing the crocodile with the Rocket Launcher and it didn't die. I was playing on the Hard difficulty and think that may be the reason why. Can anyone confirm this? Is it possible to only kill the crocodile without the explosive on lesser than Hard difficulties?

All kills seen in this video are possible except for the crocodile kill. Not even the Rocket Launcher can kill the crocodile without the help of the explosive. Programmed to only be killed by shooting the explosive it picks up in it's mouth. The other boss which can't be killed by the knife is the mutated T-103 (fought at the end of Scenario B). Programmed to only be killed by the Rocket Launcher Ada throws you.

the best thing you want to do is if you have at least some healing items go straight at him knifing in about 16 slices he changes to dog form i got pc so on my pc if im on caution if i try to turn around and run im dead if i run forward im dead but if youre lucky and dont become dead head over to the elevator and act like leon or claire is scared by moving back still looking at g4 as soon as he jumps rune forward and he will miss and from there you get free knifing shots
