This is awsome... great tutuorial and detail. Hate to ask but Im sure alot of people would like to know quickly... how much was your whole setup.... ?
I am interested in buying the letus ultimate. I know its use is primarily to achieve shallow depths of field, but I have an a 24mm nikon and an 18mm nikon. Is there problems when using wide lenses?
Awesome tutorial! The Ultimate seems to be the best of the best, but the Blade seems to be a close second. I wish someone could test all these out across many different cams, EX series, HVX series etc and find out which performs the best. I have gotten so into them, I created a small forum for guys to post tutorials and discussions, called 35mmdofadapter (dot) com. So far many of the manufacturers have already joined and other discussions and tutorials are welcome. Nice job!
It's up to you...usually the decision is based on the tripod you are using. If you are using a sliding tripod plate like on a Bogen, you'll probably have the adapter upside down. If you are using a quick release plate like a Sachtler you can bottom mount it. The rails also play a role...I've heard with Zacuto rails it doesn't make a difference which way.
Well, you can definitely get good results with a HV30, but the quality of the camera certainly contributes to the overall sharpness and color of the image. The Letus footage in this video was off a HPX-170, shooting DVCPro HD 720/30p, and a EX-3, shooting XDCam EX 1080/24p, both of which are superior HD formats to the HDV your HV30 offers.
This was very useful. Thank you very much for the video. Very nice quality. :) Do you know if you can achieve the same quality meaning (Sharpness) with the HV30 and the Letus Mini 35mm adapter? Or is it just the Ultimate that gives you this superb quality?
How much does this cost?

Well, not including the camera or lenses, at the time it was probably all around $6000, I'm sure it's cheaper now.

They are from the Red Rock Micro company...you can get them off their website, or they might be at a place like B and H by now.

I wish I could use f5.6 on my lens.. I have a letus extreme and I start to see grain around f2.8 :( so I stick with 1.4 or 2 hahaha
