I recall a story one of my old schoolteachers used to tell. A group of monks, who were embarrassed by their voices, hired a young singer with a wonderful voice to sing hymns to God for them. So God sent an angel, asking why they no longer sang beautifully to Him, and all He heard was a raspy noise. For the young singer, though he had a beautiful voice, had no faith. So the monks returned to their previous ways.
