  • Part of my love for this song comes from the brilliant use of the American Indian style chanting / mourning near the end. Check it from 2:50 for 30 seconds or so. BOC always seemed to infuse their songs with something different. Legends.

  • i will one day sit and listen to this song on the ocean!!!!!!!!!! perfect tranquility!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful Song And It's Brother Albert On Vocals....

  • my dick grew large then exploded!!!!!!!!! flowers came out of the tip and filled the room with amazing smells!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its to bad most people only know them for 2 or 3 songs.... they do not get the respect they deserve.

  • @hammerdown9911

24 million sold copies for 13 studio albums are not that bad.

  • @AdammTheDude my father died in a knife fight to this song!!!!!!!!!!!!! it will be revered until i draw my last breath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Snow is cold, but so is rain.

  • Is this awesome rock, or am i just loving BOC

  • Man, it still gets ya right there. Choice stuff.

  • Most Hell's Angel's and biker's ever when I saw them in '85 in Sacramento. They are and surely were a very underated band. But that's it, you're a fan of them or not.

  • MORE COWBELL !

  • This is pure Heavy Metal without distortion. A Metal fan must love this!

  • 24 years after its release, all three of my kids, ages 18, 11, and 7, rate this their favorite album of all time. Their MP3 players are full of BÖC songs from my collection and my oldest has inherited all my BÖC vinyl. She is introducing a whole new group to the awesomeness that is BÖC.

  • @rbrown6984

So glad to hear this. There are so many reasons to give up on humanity, and however silly it sounds, yours is an example of why not to.

How did this band not achieve the greatness it deserves?

  • @rbrown6984: Awesome. It's great when you can share music from our time with our young ones and they love it. 8^)

  • I keep it alive. Spectre's is by far the best album they did.If I stay in the desert, this will be my song, going away, on my last ride into the unknown.

  • I keep it alive. Spectre's is by far the best album they did.If I stay in the sesert, this will be my song, going away.

  • I keep it alive. Spectre's is by far the best album they did.

  • BOC Then, now, forever! Thanks for posting.

  • Best music to listen when in a chill mood.

  • i think that i own more than 12 albums of theirs and working on ALL OF THEM!!

  • almost all boc reminds me of the fall season

  • This was the the peak of their music. Still listen to it almost everyday 35 + tears later.

  • What Happened to my comment???

  • These Guys Rule./...

  • yeah man... BÖC has gotten me through some pretty tough times.. like I am sure we all have to thank BÖC for..

This one goes out to 1991 and all those born before the death of music.. may you rock on..

  • This album is way better than Agents of Fortune.

  • The chorus, the piano? Why I always get such a goosebumps that i feel like my hair is gonna jump out from my skin?

  • Best chorus on the album.Feels kinda subconscious.

  • Bring back Uncle Al!

  • I concur, Cuttlefish!!! Buck Dharma is Buddha!

  • ...a Spectacular song for some Lonely Death valley Nights......

  • @Drizzlerman 14...he says sun

  • @thefoppa1000 LOL, none of the words he used are right, so either that's what he feels when he hears those parts or he doesn't know the lyrics.

  • Smooth, melodic, great after four twenty.

  • Why couldn't I grow up listening to these guys, instead I have had the misfortune to grow up hearing main stream garbage!

  • wow, i just realized how wonderful this album is... not a bad song on it. love these guys <3

  • The AoF/Spectres B.O.C. has this subtle eeriness and ghostly vibe that makes them a interesting and parallel contrast to the grim, sinister, claustrophobic sounds produced on their opening three records during the 'black & white' era. Also I feel AoF/Spectres have a more west-coast California. Seattle WA feel to them whereas their debut feels like the urban Eastern seaboard, T&M feels like the south/mid-west and Secret Treaties feels like the Northern areas and Canada.

  • Two words: Albert Bouchard!

    C'mon reunion!

  • @billm77 Joe Bouchard and Albert Bouchard BOC reunion!

  • I seen BOC about 3 times--last concert was mirrors. The best song they played that night was me 262. THe y had mirrors everywhere and then they hit them spot lights. WOW

  • album good- concert WOW

  • Yeah hey I used to do the same myself. Back in 1977.

  • This song sounds like it could have been the theme song for some old television show or soap opera, or something.

  • I remember staring at the cover of this record and listening to it from start to finish...not a bad track.

  • ''between the horror of space..and the terror of time'' awesome lyrics.

  • this is one of the best songs on the album

  • Now this is the Boc i know and love!!! There best work right here. Albert and Joe were so important to that sound we know and love!!! I miss those guys a great deal.

  • the original lineup was one of the best lineups in rock n roll history =(

  • @oakeysmokey Yes smokey I agree. Sooo much talent!

  • Such a gorgeous track....

  • Beautifull!

  • That SNL skit is pretty funny...but don't reduce this great, talented band to nothing but that skit. They deserve better.

  • I meant Al, not Joe! Duh.

  • This song is absolutely sublime. I get chills at the end when Joe sings "I Need You..." I am a huge BOC fan and I know all their songs. If I had to pick my all-time favorite BOC tune, DVN is it, Fireworks is similar and equally brilliant.

  • Really love this song, esp. the end when piano, guitar&vocals all come together-Albert brings genuine emotion with his vocals!

    Thanks for posting!

  • pretty sad that such a great song hasn't even reached 9000 views

  • @clownkiller137

    it has now

  • Good taste is rare

  • This song represents everything that was brilliant about this band. So my question to Eric & Don is this: why did you abandon this formula? You woulda made history boys.

  • I'm glad they're underrated, because I get sick of hearing people listening to music that I like; I don't need anyone else wearing out the music I listen to. BOC is seriously my favorite band of all time.

  • Most underrated band ever - no one ever listens to anything by them except Don't Fear the Reaper and Godzilla (and maybe Burning for You and Astronomy). It's a massive shame, considering how awesome they are.

  • I agree. I am a huge BOC fan and although many fans listen to more than the songs you've mentioned, FM radio won't play anything else! The N.Y. classic rock station is pathetic: They ONLY play The Reaper and Burnin' For you. You'll never hear anything from Tyranny and Mutation or Secret Treaties; not even on their "deep album cuts"

  • Is that Allen Lanier singing?

  • Nope, it's Albert Bouchard. Lanier didn't have any vocal credits on this album except for the demo of 'please hold' which can be heard on the remaster.

  • Bock YOU Pown... long live heavy metal!

  • I love the strange darker side to this band.

    Long live BOC!!!!!!

  • cuttlefisch, thanks for your posts. you are dead on , memories never die

  • Ok, I'll set the scene. Its 1982 you're a senior in high school and you just broke up with your girlfriend of 2 years. You're not stalking her but you just drove past her house for the 10th time with this song blaring on your Kraco. You're drinking a 6 pack of Michelob light wondering how to get her back.......

  • and im evil as hell for this but i have to...hahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha

  • I like the vid by Kyuss for "one inch man" very groovy,,,,,,,,,

  • Big fan of Diana (Costello) Krall..

  • Alberts Brain Surgeons version I think is even better than this-all acoustic and he really sings his ass off. It also has a couple chords from Stairway to Heaven leading to a break. Both versions are amazing.

  • Do I even have to mention how good Blue Oyster Cult is? I don't think so, 'cause everybody probably already knows that.

  • BOC,why are you so fuckin good?!!!

  • From 71-78 or so, none better. Completely owned the "thinking man's metal" niche, and did it effortlessly. Then, sadly, I think lost their way. Certainly not the same band at all without Albert Bouchard.

  • Don't forget Joe Bouchard

  • I met Joe Bouchard back in 1999 or 2000 at a sci-fi show in N.J. His claim to fame he admitted was entirely writing Astronomy however I feel his brother Al was the better of the songwriting brothers. Al Bouchard was missed when he was kicked out of the band in 1981.

  • The most underrated band in the whole history of modern popular music. No question.

  • can i get an amen?

  • @cuttlefisch agreed i just compared them to zep! song for song

  • anyone the reason for the reaper?

  • @cuttlefisch he was dead and the doc told him write the song of your life! heard the interview

  • @cuttlefisch

Completely agree. This album alone is better than most bands greatest hits.

  • @beefoneeto Damned straight!

  • @AUMSHARADET 1992 best short guitarist lol

  • @AUMSHARADET Because they are O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L

  • Love this track. It shows just what BOC were capable of in their prime. Great memories.

  • Bouchard bros sang alot of lead vocals on this LP- and there's alot of Lanier piano/ organ- great stuff.

  • Yeah and I like Allen's "Searching for Celine".

  • What a great song. Its too bad that they are known for their radio hits.

  • Oh Albert, why did you have to leave the band?

    Great stuff youd did.

  • He didn't have a choice.

  • all i need is a kiss from you babe ( caissa)

    1.e4

  • Some ooooh-so-tasty licks from Buck in this one starting at 2:26.

  • COOL

  • Love it....... Definately the best one.. better than don't fear the reaper

  • Are there any other bands who can do both metal and beautiful music like this?

  • No,BOC stands alone.#1

  • listen to Golden age of leather, Power Underneath Despair, and The siege and investiture of Baron Von frankensteins catle at Weiserria. Then listen to Fireworks, and This song. Extreme Metal to Extreme Melodic Like that!

  • I have,many,many times. I'm old.

  • one of the best all around.dream world vision.you can't write much better.perfection in art and rock and fucken roll!!timeless great stuff!!

  • so amazing..isn't it wonderful? fuck im dreaming!

  • It's a gorgeous track...

  • this is most assuradly a good album to play with your girlfriend

  • A strange but beautiful song.

  • Isn't that how most BOC songs are?
