Don't listen to AndrewMann552. He's using Eva Golinger (Hugo Chavez's international PR figure), NarcoNews (fringe far-left publication, part of the American Left establishment), TeleSur (Venezuelan Chavista state media with funding from the Cuban government among other sources) as "reliable sources". Who do I trust, sources with an ideological bone to pick and sympathies towards Zelaya and other Chavez allies, or Hondurans, with regards to what goes on in Honduras. I say Hondurans.
This man Dr. Juan Almendares, who calls himself a Human Rights Activist is nothing , but a leftist defending Zelaya and what he wanted to do about turning Honduras into another Venezuela and turning Manuel Zelaya into an eternal dictador like Hugo Chavez is now.
How strange, the US keep all those countries of central an south america in extreme poverty...bus the army es have good an expensive weapons................
@benpandira Who says that the US keeps those countries in poverty. ? This is the stupidest thing i've ever heard. They keep themselves in poverty because of the corruption they have and their bad working habits..........Don't blame the US for everything bad that happens down there. This is just a communist strategy.
Michilliti's advisor is Billy Joya, a known leader of the Honduran death squads of the 1980s and the infamous Battalion 316 and is appearing as a regular commentator on national television, of course channels bought off from corporate companies, especially CHIQUITA, wake up morons!!
Zelays represents the indigenous and Garifuna communities, peasant farmers, workers, and the poor in Honduras...Of course, some of the CHIQUITA"S , UNITED FRUIT company will never understand, so they make up this bogus story to oust out an elected president. Hey, its business as usual for these morons
There is no evidence that Zelaya ever claimed to want to extend his term. And more importantly, the referendum he proposed for opening a constitutional assembly would have taken place at the same time as November's presidential election that Zelaya is barred from participating in. Why the fuck they exile zeleya??
Question: if the attorney general had indeed laid 18 serious criminal charges on Zelaya, including treason, then why would the ousted president be prohibited from returning to the country where he could face trial? Of course not, the people will rise with him and overthrow Michelliti's mickey mouse club
This is definitely military coup d'état , when military soldiers opened fire on a crowd of protesters, this is a disgarce of a democracy. How can anybody support this dictatorship of Michelliti. Fucking morons, people don't that the wacky honduran was written under US military arms in the early eighties
I wish reuters, AP, and others would stop calling it a fuc---- coup!!!!! My god these Journalists are either idiots or they are communists. GET IT RIGHT PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Not a coup, when you have all of latin america, asia and european saying its a definitely a coup...please..European Union reacted to the de facto government's refusal by canceling all international aid to Honduras. USA has already suspended various visas entry for Michiliti's cronies. I wish they will do more!
Article 4 of Honduras Constitution states that attempts to violate the alternation in the office of the presidency constitute "treason." Article 42.5 even says that any person who incites, promotes or supports presidential re-election will lose his or her citizenship.
Now kid, show yourself a little respect: go study.
Thanks for clearing that up. I spoke with some Honduran teenagers today and they agreed they wanted Zelaya out. He tried to break the law and was ousted. Since his party still controls congress, there can be no claims of the opposition causing this. Clearly the Liberals were in agreement.
I am honduran american and what I'm not too knowledgeable on whats happening down there but my question is why are people rebelling like this with blood shed and guns. I know Bush wasn't popular here, but we didn't see any of this.
Yeah but if Bush tried working up a way to remain in office after his term was up I believe the people and military would have stepped in to remove him as well.
There is a huge difference between Obama (and Democrats) and the clowns (Chavez, Zelaya, Evo, Correa and Ortega). Learn the difference and don't exaggerate.
Yes, Obambi doesn't even have the guts to tackle this health care reform...but Chavez, Zeleya, Evo, Correa, Ortega and many latin americas leaders are just fed up for decades of oppression by right wings extremist politics, all thanks for US mercenaries training and economic hitmans
Unfortunately Chavez, Evo, Correa and Ortega are just modern day caudillos. Add old Fidel and Raul to the list as well. Right wing, left wing, meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Oh I forgot, Chavito gives them red shirts (better than brown shirts, I guess). Lula may be the only one worth his salt.
Its totally amazing that people like yourself actually thinks they know a little bit about international politics and foreign policies, but when you post comments like this "acfreund", it undermines your lack of knowledge. Its a coup, and the world knows it.
in 2004 book she wrote with her brother David, The Exception to the Rulers. The role of reporters, she says, is to go to where the silence is and say something. For going to places like East Timor, Nigeria, Peru, and Haiti to report on stories ignored by the mainstream media, often as considerable risk.
A preliminary report tabled by Honduras's leading human rights monitor, COFADE, has registered over 1,100 human rights violations since the coup, including 3 killings, the detention of over 1,000 people, and 27 incidences of attacks, intimidation, or censorship of media outlets and journalists.
Today is July 14. The left in Latin America is very upset that there wasn't a blood bath, which they needed to mask their operations as genuine political activism. I'll love Democracy Now report what is actually happening in Honduras, 16 days after the ouster of EX president ZELAYA
Democracy Now is run by leftists. Dr. Juan Almendares is a communist, and the reporter is a pot-smoking hippy who probably spent time in Honduras with the Peace Corps. You cannot compare Allende with Zelaya as if they stood for the same ideals when elected to office. Zelaya promised to defend the Constitution, a year later, he turned around and betrayed it. You cannot give freedom of the press to TeleSur or Globo TV when what they intended to do was to incite a blood bath to create martyrs.
Hippy? Amy?...really?. graduating from Harvard in 1984 with a degree in anthropology, she spent 10 years as producer of the evening news show at WBAI, Pacifica Radios station in New York City. Democracy Now, which began in 1996, now airs on more than 225 stations across North America.
graduating from Harvard in 1984 with a degree in anthropology, she spent 10 years as producer of the evening news show at WBAI, Pacifica Radios station in New York City.
Hypocrite?? Really, you talk about dictatorships how Zeleya along with other left leaders ruined latin america, when it fact it was right wing paramilitary groups for decades wiping out any one that had any idealogy regarding social reform. Where were guys like your self were in those devastating situations? The Hypocrite is your self BetrollingU2.
read article 3 of the current Hondurian constitution. Congress, Supreme Cout and the Military violated this LAW. This will come and haunt them for quite a while.
As for ruining Hondura...please, Military coups backed by CIA operatives have been ruining Latin Americas for decades. They have over thrown elected presidents and replace them with brutal dictators like Pinochet, Somoza, Baptista, Peron, Trijullo...etc.
Zelaya may have not been the best president out there, and like many leaders, they all make mistakes. I will acknowledge that. However the fact remains, this was definitely a military coup. And still condemned by practically all of latin america, OAS, and the European Union. What part of this don't you understand?
Note: Garcia, was known for high corruption, and the high level of military repression, including the startling leap of activity attributable to Battalion 3-16, which was a secret right-wing paramilitary death squad trained by the CIA. Garcia, with US CIA helped write a Constitution that suits best the neo-cons and right wing elite group
Note: the Honduran Constitution, was written under the military government of U.S. stooge Policarpo Paz García in the early 1980s, is draconian on this subject of re-election and holding individuals to a single presidency.
In our country, the president is also seeking term extension to prolong the corruption of her allies...They are using the CONSTITUTIONAL ASSEMBLY to change the constitution...If these constitutional assembly or CONASS prevails in our Congress...and if the constitution will be ratified...
I cannot believe that Juan Almendares could lie so openly. Today I received a copy of Dr Armando Valladares resignation to his post within the Human Rights Foundation (HRF) for the falsehoods being spread internationally over the Honduras crisis.
Just because someone is elected doesn't mean that the other branches of government are devoid of power. Or the constitiution no longer matters. The worst dictators in history were all elected. If someone had the courage to do what the Honduran people had the courage to do. Some of the greatest tragedies of history could have been avoided.
Do you enjoy being a shill? Some of the greatest tragedies of history could have been avoided weren't there people like you, willing to betray humanity for their own personal gain or fear.
You have made arguably the stupidest post I have ever read. You don't even make sense. How am I a shill for championing people standing up for themselves and defending their sovereignty against other nations. Unless you can write something coherent don't bother me with your dribble.
Constitutional Republics like both The United States & Honduras alike are not about mob rule! If Zelaya had wanted only to change the Constitution then he should have seen it done legally by the Honduran Congress! Mob rule doesn't override the Constitution. The founders wanted it that way to prevent demagogues from rising to power. You are a shill for being so fast to disregard the Honduran Constitution, maybe it's time for the other side to "stand up for themselves." Death to Dictators!
If you read what I wrote you will notice that we agree totally and I said the exact same thing. So what does that make you and your little friend down there who also called me a shill. I was praising the Honduran people and government for standing by their constitution. And deriding other nations and people for not doing the same throughout history. But you and the other dumb fuck are to busy looking for a fight you didn't take the time to understand what was written.
My heart goes out to Latinamerica (I am Mexican) and its peoples. My HATE goes out to the politicians who use political offices as a source of upward mobility by stealing from the public while using their populist rhetoric to make sheep out of men. The error that Honduras committed was to not formally arrest and prosecute Zelaya in their own country. The Caracas and Washington D.C. need to stay out of this!
Zelaya was being nice to the people because he wanted them to vote for a new type of goverment where HE would have all the power,no legislative or judicial branches.and you cant do that! imagine obama saying "fuck the congress. the people elected ME, im the king. fuck the supreme court! do what i say" sadly some of my people is poor and ignorant..they dont understand. thinking zelaya is good for taking them in consideration. while hes just using them. to become a dictator and then all be worst.
Oh really, we jsut had a previous president (BUSH) that violated our constitution with the Patriot Act and abused his power and taken the US into a spiral of chaos. sadly you forgot laingej...
You are obviously quite ignorant of the Constitution and the Patriot Act. And if you knew the Constitution well you'd be screaming at the multiple anti-constitutional acts that Chairman MAObama has carried out. Just one: GM take over by giving arbitrarily 51 of ownership to UAW (who previously owned only 10%). He has not only trampled the constitution but commerce clauses and violated the right of private enterprises that were owed billions of dollars.
this whole video is a lie! starting with the title!! wasnt a coup!the army isnt in charge... Zelaya is an asshole, a traitor(selling our country to chavez), an ignorant who never graduated from high school, has no manners..claims to be christian but doesnt know the "our father" prayers.. a punk who deserves years in prison.. a fucking liar,,,Zelaya lied to us and now lies to the world......and the list goes on and on.. im proud of Honduras my country! Die ZELAYA!!
what if (like is the case in honduras) the congress is corrupt? isnt the best alternative to making changes in corrupt governments giving the people the vote to do it? why is the hondurian (unelected) supreme court so afraid of letting the people vote? there is no better and honest way of bringing necassary changes than to ask the people if they want these changes-
the UN & OAS as well as other democratic countries (not to mention the hondurian masses) all support zelaya, and for good reason
yeah, everything you say sounds beatiful!! thats called politics.. they brain-wash you. offer you all kinds of pretty things.. make promises and shit..just to get your vote, and then they'll turn u around and poke you in the dookhole!!.. thats what Zelaya wanted to do us....but now hes fucked!! hahahaha....were not stupid. i dont think chavez and castro ask their people what they want now?? do they? fuck you!
Zelaya effectively tendered his resignation once he brought up the issue of extending term limits. Apparently, one must resign from Honduran office in order to lobby for a change in term limits--which makes sense.
Given that, I fail to see how this was a 'coup' at all.
'one must resign from honuran office in order to lobby for a change in term limits'- so then how would one achieve this change since the person or persons one would lobby couldnt bring forth a proposal for the change without resigning first? catch-22? or maybe things are made to not change? the powers in charge would surely appreciate that
It's a case of trying to curb a conflict of interest, I suppose.
I think the idea is to prevent a president from using his executive powers to swiftly extend his term--he can still lobby for change as a private citizen once he resigns from office.
So, ultimately, the choice rests on the shoulders of the Congress. If they independently decide to change term limits, then they alone propose the change. Then the sitting president would not have to resign
i will be praying for president manuel zelaya, he wa overthrown by corrupt politicians and miltary leaders, and was replaced by a puppet dictator without the consent of the people. god be with the hondurans, the protesters, and zelaya,
Everything from Democracy Now, which made the video, is Marxist propaganda. That's why, rather than defending the human rights of Hondurans and Latin Americans, Democracy Now is siding with the Marxist thugs who are trampling on those human rights!
Congratulations, Hondurans! Many of us wish we could have done what you are doing before the Marxist thugs working for Castro and Chavez enslaved our countries.
Latin Americans have the right, as human beings, to be free from Castro and Chavez, and their clones--Morales, Correa, Ortega, Zelaya, etc.
Zelaya was about to take over the Legislative and Judicial branches, when the Supreme Court, considering Zelayas crimes and ties with Chavez, ordered that he be removed.
Honduras must fight back and stand up against the spread of Chavez's filthy ideas. Communism is dead, Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba and Nicaragua are trying to revive a failed repressive system to enslave the people of N&S America.
cant you ppl understand we dont want a dictator in our country...let chavez rule venezuela if thats what they want...but we dont want MEL....so go away mel....we dont want you here
Finally the international community sides with the people as opposed to the elites. To the antidemocratic, right wing dictatorship supporters I know will read this: EL PUEBLO UNIDO JAMAS SERA VENCIDO!!! The sleeping giant has awakened. Never again youll see another Pinochet!!! Never again!
Coup leaders in Honduras have been given three days to restore deposed president Manuel Zelaya to power, or face suspension from the Organisation of American States (OAS).
There is no other justification for the imposed curfew and repression except for the stifling of dissent and the fear of mass protests to the coup government. This action further confirms Micheletti's coup regime is struggling to maintain control over the situation in the country and is responding to its opposition with repressive measures.
Whats wrong with you people? If a president tries to become a dictator and destroy thecountries constitution, then te people have the right to overthrow that president. Are you guys all in favor of leftist dictators? You people are insane..
The problem is nothing justifies shutting down the press, closing radio stations, putting troops on the streets, arresting journalists, beating up ambassadors. That doesn't sound like a "legal transition." I'm assuming from your screenname you're a religious nut, so you must be spewing your crap by faith or something.
Im a religious nut? lol... Do you even know what Nineveh is? you must not because obviously you are an uneducated leftist. Nineveh is the ancient Assyrian City in Iraq. I have been to 34 countries so far for archeology work and I have seen enough Leftist tyrants in the world. Zaleya was a soon to be leftst thug like chavez and the Hondurans were only defending freedom and their constitution from being destroyed by Zaleya.
My apologies for the name. Nineveh is also a prominently featured city in the Bible, I work as a scholar. And again, nothing anyone here has said justifies the terror and repression the military carried out. There's simply no excuse. And as I pointed out in detail, Zelaya was doing nothing illegal. Even his deportation was illegal. The Honduran constitution forbids the expulsion of any citizen.
Maybe it is featured in the Bible because it is an ancient city. It is also featured in the Torrah and the Quran. Babylon is also heavily mentioned and So is UR and Egypt. so what does that have to do with religion?
Don't be stupid! He proposed to have a survey on Constitituinal Reform, The survey it self does Not compromise the constitution. You are getting Suckered by the wrong info, Which is very Typical of T.V zombies like you, A military take over like this one looks more like a dictatorship to me. Zelaya was kidnapped from his home, Very democratic. hahaha
It wasn't a military takeover. The military was commanded by the Honduran Supreme court and the Honduran Congress. It was completely legal because Zaleya was trying to destroy the Honduran constitution. He was trying to do what the leftist thug chavez was doing. You listen to too much leftist half assed Media that only tells one side such as NPR and MSNBC and Fox.
NPR reported that it was not a coup but that it was actually a legal procedure. As for MSNBC and Fox, well, they serve their own left and right markets.
I can't believe Barack Obama is supporting Zaleya. Zaleya was a dictator that wanted to shred the Honduras constitution so he could become a leftist dictater. He broke thelaw and is was Honduras right to Oust him. Obama is a comunist leftist thug who buddies with dictators such as castro and Chavez. Obama is a disgrace.
What are you talking about? Even anti-Communist presidents like Uribe, Alan Garcia, Felipe Calderon etc., are not recognizing the new government and are condemning the fascist coup.
They are still socialist garbage. Zaleya had illegal votes sent in from Venezuela and tried to take over the Honduran government to shred the constitution so he could remain a leftist dictator for life. If Obama tried to do this in the USA, then we have every right to throw out Obama by the gun.
There is no evidence for your propaganda. In fact, Jeremy Scahill is reporting that:
President Zelaya intended to perform a non-binding public consultation, about the conformation of an elected National Constituent Assembly. To do this, he invoked article 5 of the Honduran Civil Participation Act of 2006. According to this act, all public functionaries can perform non-binding public consultations to inquire what the population thinks about policy measures.
what? All over the news on about 20 different news sources are saying that Zaleya recieved illegal votes from Venezuela that the leftist dictator thug Chavez is denying. Zaleya is a leftist dictator that needed to be thrown out for daring to shred freedom and the Honduran constitution.
Here's from your "news sources" including the AP, MSNBC, CNN: OAS gives Gorilaletti 72 Hours:
Coup leaders in Honduras have been given three days to restore deposed president Manuel Zelaya to power, or face suspension from the Organisation of American States (OAS).
look im from honduras, and if you notice there is people criticism mel zelaya or his actions 24 hours a day, here the right is huge, they have call centers to persuave people on internet.same things happens to our media where 80% of radio stations and televicentro, the big network of television (which were the only stations and channels that went to air after the coup)are owned by the same guy
I know about the host speaking here and her radio program on FM.
They are clearly a left group who supports any movement that smell like socialist. They are exagerating the events in Honduras and only paint the picture they want you to see. They will never show you the massive demonstration in support of the new government and rejection of the ousted president Mel Zelaya.
The pro-coup event generated a decent sized but not all that impressive considering all the power at its command - crowd. Employees of pro-coup businesses were forced to attend, and bussed in.
Those with strong ties to Honduras know from day 1 the reality of the situation. The rest is guessing or mislead by the media, as they picture the way the want to.
Any Americans reading this: Don't trust most of these "Hondurans" posting. Some are living the good life here in the US while others are upper, middle class Hondurans who speak english. The poor, the workers, the workers unions are not supporting this fascist coup and are mobilizing against it. NarcoNews is reporting rebellions breaking out in the rural zones while the military is cracking down hard on media, radio, newspapers and protesters. This like Venezuela 2002.
AndrewMann552. You speak as if your intellect is superior than anyone here about the type of people supporting this changes in Honduras. Being a middle class, educated or english speaking Honduran does not put that person in a category with lesser authority to opine about the reality of the events.
You and many other socialists are always talking about the "poors" like if ONLY guys can speak for them. On the other hand you mention NarcoNews, the name says it all about the source.
If you knew anything you would know NarcoNews is one of the most respected independent news outlets on Latin America. And as they revealed just now:
The pro-coup event generated a decent sized but not all that impressive considering all the power at its command - crowd. Employees of pro-coup businesses were forced to attend, and bussed in.
Ya im sure they don't, don't many childish poor people love socialist dictators? So why not believe upper and middle class Hondurans who want freedom? but you will believe poor Hondurans who want Theft and redistribution and Leftist dictatorship? Whatever.
Excuse me, but if Obama tried to illegally extend his terms in office, his ass would hopefully get a one way ticket out of the US as well. The supreme court of Honduras stated this was illegal, as did the Honduran government. The military did not lead a coup, the supreme court ordered the military to ensure he leave, due to his violation of democracy. The military is just following the constitution of the country.
thank you!! i was starting to think that i was the only one that knows what is going on down there. i have spread the word to my friends and co-workers make sure to do the same. The state department here is hoping we don't find out what this tyrant was trying to do. he deserved to get shipped off in his PJs.
I'm surprised I was able to pick up on it as well, considering barely anyone is talking about the other side...even Fox News. All I heard was how the military was ordered by the government through constitutional authority and then the entire UN is against it? No explanation as to why the country has no right to act on it's constitution and why this corrupt socialist MUST be placed back in power. If only they were Muslim...than we could support their rights to true democracy.
My wife is Honduran, the media coverage here has her wanting to start fires and go to CNN and slap people around. I have never seen her so angry. It is a state department boondoggle. The UN and the US don't want piss off Chavez. Chavez feels he has the right to have puppet gov'ts if the US can. She fears Chavez will use force.
The media is ill-informed and rushing about this event. If I did not have my familty in Honduras telling me the details, I would believe the mainstream media right now too.
In the next hours you will see a different media coverage as the true is exposed to the world. The new government is working hard uncovering all the crimes, corruption, money laundering, power abuse and other acts this ousted president committed.
Coverage won't change much because nobody in the world believes these clowns. Its the same as Venezuela 2002. History will instead look at them and at people supporting this shamefully, like the Chileans who cheered on Pinochet.
Hey all you pro-fascists! Zelaya wasn't doing anything illegal! As Jeremy Scahill reports:
President Zelaya intended to perform a non-binding public consultation, about the conformation of an elected National Constituent Assembly. To do this, he invoked article 5 of the Honduran Civil Participation Act of 2006. According to this act, all public functionaries can perform non-binding public consultations to inquire what the population thinks about policy measures.
Well said my friend, except that Obama is a socialist as well. That's why Obama's dream was to have photos taken while hugging Hugo Chavez and read one of this books.
That's the reason he is against the movement of freedom and democracy in Honduras and wants to have Zelaya back in Honduras.
I tell the brave Honduran people that Obama is NOT your friend. He is with your enemy, stand strong for the future of you children.
Even if he is a communist he was elected democratically. If he broke the law, which no legal experts believe, then provide the laws he broke and the actions that broke the law.
Zelaya is a LIAR and MANIPULATOR! I hope the world will soon see that what happened was to protect our Democracy! Zelaya was following Chavez's guidebook in order to stay in power indefinitely. We don't want Honduras to become like Venezuela or Cuba! Those protesters are the minority! Telesur (news channel from Venezuela) is misleading the information. Us, the Honduran people, know the truth! There have been peaceful demonstrations AGAINST Zelaya. The majority of us support this new government!
His charge is treason. He is supposed to up hold the Constitution like in the president in the USA. But he was going to change the constitution without using the porper channels. The majority of the people said no, the Congress said no, the Courts said no, the Military said no. He was going to do it anyways so they shipped his out in his PJs. He didn't even submit a budget to the congress last year. he has been spending money off the books for over a year, he needed to go!
I have been trying to spread the word my friend. Make sure you are doing the same. Call a local radio show or something. America is going to be mislead and I fear Chavez will attack the people if the US gives him the thumbs up. I will pray for your family
Thank you! I am spreading the truth..not his "truth". I have sent photos and videos of peaceful demonstrations taken place in the main cities in Honduras. It is clear from the images and videos that we (the majority) wanted him out! We do not want him to return and spread Chavez's ideologies in Honduras. Honduras belongs to the Honduran people not to Zelaya or Chavez! We are not afraid to fight for our democracy and against tyranny and oppression! Zelaya is NOT above the Honduran Constitution!
El tiempo de Perrochet and Somosa es terminado , militares fascistas el tiempo se les acorta arranquen antes que sea demasiado tarde , recuerden el golpe fallido en Venezuela el Pueblo defendera la real democracia.
Adriana Sivori, correspondent for Telesur in Tegucigalpa has just been released, along with her camera crew and three Associated Press journalists who had been detained about half hour ago by military forces in Honduras under orders of the dictatorship that illegally took power yesterday in a coup d'etat that ousted constitutional president Mel Zelaya.
Look up what a Coup really is. If the military held power and was going to install a new government, yes this would be a Coup, but they are not doing that, therefore, by definition, this is not a coup.
Let's see, one group overthrew the elected government and installed themselves in power. That is what the whole world knows to be a coup. Nobody elected the guy who is President right now. The entire world knows what is happening. That is why you guys look so ridiculous.
Also, your explanation of the events is ridiculous. Zelaya was not changing any laws on Sunday, the people were simply going to vote in a survey. No specific new laws were being proposed. Also, it is illegal under the Honduran constitution to expel any citizen, which means Zelaya's kidnapping was illegal. Third, they shut down the media, newspapers, radio stations etc., that is pretty classic coup behavior.
sure buddy, haha. Did you know that this all started in 2007 when he refused to submit a budget to his congress and has been spending money off the books ever since?? Do you know anything about Honduras?? You are acting like it was going to be a fair poll anyways. He was going to control the outcome, that was the problem. Now the AP is saying there is proof he was part of the drug trade, feel dumb for being on the wrong side of the Hondurian people yet? You should think before you open the trap
You people still cannot answer why he wasn't prosecuted within the country. If he was so alone, if the entire system was against him, then what was the danger in simply prosecuting him in Honduras instead of carrying out this insane military operation which has created such havoc? There's simply no explanation other than this was a fascist coup.
do you not know how Chavez became the ruler he is today? If you don't know that story, I don't have the time to explain...... History my friend, learn from it, or repeat it.
I suggest you go out and read some serious scholarship on modern Latin American history, you know, like BOOKS. I'm assuming you mean Chavez's failed 1992 coup attempt? That was a direct result of the Caracazo, I don't remember Zelaya massacring thousands in the streets. Other than that, Chavez was elected, which is more than we can say about Gorilaletti.
at no time did i say the Honduran media was owned by the state, but they were forced to play his speeched daily, look it up. and what books should i read?
Actually, in Venezuela there are only 2 state-run channels. 90% of Venezuelan media is privately owned. Sorry buddy. Look, I've presented the legal evidence in detail, you guys can just keep spinning bullshit out of thin air just like the Gorilaletti regime.
BBC and the AP are hardcore leftists. I can't listen to either of them no matter what country i am in. They only tell a partial leftist side of the story. Really though for every 1 right wing dictator, you will find 20 left wing dictators. How many current right wing dictators can you name vs. current left wing dictators. And the Scary thing is that the United Nothing and Obama Marx props up and heavily supports leftist dictators and tyranny.
Jeremy Scahill has revealed that Zelaya wasn't even doing anything illegal:
President Zelaya intended to perform a non-binding public consultation, about the conformation of an elected National Constituent Assembly. To do this, he invoked article 5 of the Honduran Civil Participation Act of 2006. According to this act, all public functionaries can perform non-binding public consultations to inquire what the population thinks about policy measures.
so you love the guy and know so much, why did he no longer submit a budget to the elected congress and spent gov't money without telling anyone what the money was being spent on. what law covers that?
Hey, if he did something wrong he needs to answer for it. But supposedly that happened in 2007. How does a two-year old controversy justify a 2009 coup? You people MAKE NO SENSE! You know you can't justify what is going on. And you guys still refuse to answer about the shutting down of the press, radio stations, soldiers firing on buses with students trying to go protest. THE WORLD KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON!
treason my friend, they didn't kill him like treason should be treated. if bush had lost it in the last two years of his rule, cut off congress completely, was runing a government that no longer answered to congress, any media, or the courts. make the media play his daily speeched. fires the military chief because he would not support his secret gov't. then he tries to change the constitution, it is treason
Bush would have been arrested, the military would not have kidnapped him, thrown into Mexico and then proceeded to shut down MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, ABC, CBS etc., or shut down our radio stations. Bush would have been arrested and tried in court.
You still cannot escape the fact that what the military did was illegal. The Honduran constitution forbids the expulsion of a citizen. And how does any of this justify shutting down the media, newspapers, putting soldiers in radio stations. The AP didn't link Zelaya to the drug trade, the article said the criminal coup plotters want to link him to the drug trade, which is just more laughable lying from a bunch of criminals.
if bush or obama or any president, wanted to shread the consitution in the US after turning the gov't on it's head by spending money without any discloser, would not want the congress and courts to stand up for the constitution??? or do you submit power to a man who only has power b/c the constitution???
Do you have ties to Honduras? Are you in daily phone communication with friends, ex-coworkers, family members, etc. like I am? In less than 24 hours the world has jumped into whatever the media has reported; one side of the story.
There is no coup! Are the military in control of the government in Honduras? If your answer is yes, then I would say to you stop writing, go do more research and come back in a few days. Then you will give a different opinion IF you believe in freedom and democracy.
Actually I am in contact with people in Honduras, I work as a scholar and researcher. Yes, we all know the sector of Honduran society that can afford continuous long-distance phone calls as well. Stop spreading your propaganda.
It wasn't a coup; it was a CONSTITUTIONAL PRESIDENT TRANSITION be clear don't base opinions in a couple of images that you have from the media showing soldiers enforcing THE LAW mandated for the other 2 powers THE CONGRESS and the SUPREME COURT. Let's inform the world with the truth because now communism from the south is trying to invade our country Honduras.
You're an idiot. The military has shut down the media, is arresting journalists, beating protesters. They kidnapped the president and dumped him into another the country. That's not a "transition," that is a COUP. You're a fucking fool. Go educate yourself.
If he had all the congress, courts etc., against him, why didn't they prosecute him according to the law and ousted him? Why send in the military kidnap him, arrest his cabinet, shut down the media etc.? That is very much a coup.

Michilliti's advisor is Billy Joya, a known leader of the Honduran death squads of the 1980s and the infamous Battalion 316 and is appearing as a regular commentator on national television, of course channels bought off from corporate companies, especially CHIQUITA, wake up morons!!
csanchez2009 2 years ago
Zelays represents the indigenous and Garifuna communities, peasant farmers, workers, and the poor in Honduras...Of course, some of the CHIQUITA"S , UNITED FRUIT company will never understand, so they make up this bogus story to oust out an elected president. Hey, its business as usual for these morons
csanchez2009 2 years ago
There is no evidence that Zelaya ever claimed to want to extend his term. And more importantly, the referendum he proposed for opening a constitutional assembly would have taken place at the same time as November's presidential election that Zelaya is barred from participating in. Why the fuck they exile zeleya??
csanchez2009 2 years ago
Question: if the attorney general had indeed laid 18 serious criminal charges on Zelaya, including treason, then why would the ousted president be prohibited from returning to the country where he could face trial? Of course not, the people will rise with him and overthrow Michelliti's mickey mouse club

No, YOU need to learn the basics.
Article 4 of Honduras Constitution states that attempts to violate the alternation in the office of the presidency constitute "treason." Article 42.5 even says that any person who incites, promotes or supports presidential re-election will lose his or her citizenship.
Now kid, show yourself a little respect: go study.
cernicaloide0 2 years ago
Thanks for clearing that up. I spoke with some Honduran teenagers today and they agreed they wanted Zelaya out. He tried to break the law and was ousted. Since his party still controls congress, there can be no claims of the opposition causing this. Clearly the Liberals were in agreement.

delgado2010 2 years ago
Democracy Now is run by leftists. Dr. Juan Almendares is a communist, and the reporter is a pot-smoking hippy who probably spent time in Honduras with the Peace Corps. You cannot compare Allende with Zelaya as if they stood for the same ideals when elected to office. Zelaya promised to defend the Constitution, a year later, he turned around and betrayed it. You cannot give freedom of the press to TeleSur or Globo TV when what they intended to do was to incite a blood bath to create martyrs.

Zelaya effectively tendered his resignation once he brought up the issue of extending term limits. Apparently, one must resign from Honduran office in order to lobby for a change in term limits--which makes sense.
Given that, I fail to see how this was a 'coup' at all.
SparkamusPryme 2 years ago
'one must resign from honuran office in order to lobby for a change in term limits'- so then how would one achieve this change since the person or persons one would lobby couldnt bring forth a proposal for the change without resigning first? catch-22? or maybe things are made to not change? the powers in charge would surely appreciate that
aztecadog 2 years ago
It's a case of trying to curb a conflict of interest, I suppose.
I think the idea is to prevent a president from using his executive powers to swiftly extend his term--he can still lobby for change as a private citizen once he resigns from office.
So, ultimately, the choice rests on the shoulders of the Congress. If they independently decide to change term limits, then they alone propose the change. Then the sitting president would not have to resign
SparkamusPryme 2 years ago

The problem is nothing justifies shutting down the press, closing radio stations, putting troops on the streets, arresting journalists, beating up ambassadors. That doesn't sound like a "legal transition." I'm assuming from your screenname you're a religious nut, so you must be spewing your crap by faith or something.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
Im a religious nut? lol... Do you even know what Nineveh is? you must not because obviously you are an uneducated leftist. Nineveh is the ancient Assyrian City in Iraq. I have been to 34 countries so far for archeology work and I have seen enough Leftist tyrants in the world. Zaleya was a soon to be leftst thug like chavez and the Hondurans were only defending freedom and their constitution from being destroyed by Zaleya.
shadowsofnineveh 2 years ago
My apologies for the name. Nineveh is also a prominently featured city in the Bible, I work as a scholar. And again, nothing anyone here has said justifies the terror and repression the military carried out. There's simply no excuse. And as I pointed out in detail, Zelaya was doing nothing illegal. Even his deportation was illegal. The Honduran constitution forbids the expulsion of any citizen.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
Maybe it is featured in the Bible because it is an ancient city. It is also featured in the Torrah and the Quran. Babylon is also heavily mentioned and So is UR and Egypt. so what does that have to do with religion?

It wasn't a military takeover. The military was commanded by the Honduran Supreme court and the Honduran Congress.
He did nothing illegal!
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
what? All over the news on about 20 different news sources are saying that Zaleya recieved illegal votes from Venezuela that the leftist dictator thug Chavez is denying. Zaleya is a leftist dictator that needed to be thrown out for daring to shred freedom and the Honduran constitution.

HFUNES 2 years ago

AndrewMann552 2 years ago
Well said my friend, except that Obama is a socialist as well. That's why Obama's dream was to have photos taken while hugging Hugo Chavez and read one of this books.
That's the reason he is against the movement of freedom and democracy in Honduras and wants to have Zelaya back in Honduras.
I tell the brave Honduran people that Obama is NOT your friend. He is with your enemy, stand strong for the future of you children.
God bless them!

Mother fuck zelaya, he's a dirty communist, the other reds chavez, ortega, and i guess castro, he deserves to be kicked out.

dumbnutsdum,
Even if he is a communist he was elected democratically. If he broke the law, which no legal experts believe, then provide the laws he broke and the actions that broke the law.
Marly61 2 years ago
no legal experts believe??? how about the Surpreme Court of Honduras?? haha, you are very ill-informed my friend.
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago 2
Zelaya is a LIAR and MANIPULATOR! I hope the world will soon see that what happened was to protect our Democracy! Zelaya was following Chavez's guidebook in order to stay in power indefinitely. We don't want Honduras to become like Venezuela or Cuba! Those protesters are the minority! Telesur (news channel from Venezuela) is misleading the information. Us, the Honduran people, know the truth! There have been peaceful demonstrations AGAINST Zelaya. The majority of us support this new government!
kportillo 2 years ago 2
What is his charges and what he do? I don't know so that's why I'm asking and since you are Honduran you can give me an honest answer.....Gracias!
double74 2 years ago
His charge is treason. He is supposed to up hold the Constitution like in the president in the USA. But he was going to change the constitution without using the porper channels. The majority of the people said no, the Congress said no, the Courts said no, the Military said no. He was going to do it anyways so they shipped his out in his PJs. He didn't even submit a budget to the congress last year. he has been spending money off the books for over a year, he needed to go!
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago 2
Thank you SMF....... That explains it enough now to understand.....cheers!
double74 2 years ago
I have been trying to spread the word my friend. Make sure you are doing the same. Call a local radio show or something. America is going to be mislead and I fear Chavez will attack the people if the US gives him the thumbs up. I will pray for your family
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago 2

Eva Golinger reports:
Adriana Sivori, correspondent for Telesur in Tegucigalpa has just been released, along with her camera crew and three Associated Press journalists who had been detained about half hour ago by military forces in Honduras under orders of the dictatorship that illegally took power yesterday in a coup d'etat that ousted constitutional president Mel Zelaya.
THIS IS A COUP!
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
Look up what a Coup really is. If the military held power and was going to install a new government, yes this would be a Coup, but they are not doing that, therefore, by definition, this is not a coup.
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago 2
Let's see, one group overthrew the elected government and installed themselves in power. That is what the whole world knows to be a coup. Nobody elected the guy who is President right now. The entire world knows what is happening. That is why you guys look so ridiculous.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
Also, your explanation of the events is ridiculous. Zelaya was not changing any laws on Sunday, the people were simply going to vote in a survey. No specific new laws were being proposed. Also, it is illegal under the Honduran constitution to expel any citizen, which means Zelaya's kidnapping was illegal. Third, they shut down the media, newspapers, radio stations etc., that is pretty classic coup behavior.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
sure buddy, haha. You should think before you open the trap
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago 2
You people still cannot answer why he wasn't prosecuted within the country. If he was so alone, if the entire system was against him, then what was the danger in simply prosecuting him in Honduras instead of carrying out this insane military operation which has created such havoc? There's simply no explanation other than this was a fascist coup.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
do you not know how Chavez became the ruler he is today? If you don't know that story, I don't have the time to explain...... History my friend, learn from it, or repeat it.
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago
I suggest you go out and read some serious scholarship on modern Latin American history, you know, like BOOKS. I'm assuming you mean Chavez's failed 1992 coup attempt? That was a direct result of the Caracazo, I don't remember Zelaya massacring thousands in the streets. Other than that, Chavez was elected, which is more than we can say about Gorilaletti.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
i'm not talking about him being elected, i'm talking about his take over of the media and industry........
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago
HA HA HA the media and industry?! Most Honduran media is privately owned! You people are nuts.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
at no time did i say the Honduran media was owned by the state, but they were forced to play his speeched daily, look it up. and what books should i read?
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago
The media should always be privately owned. It should never be run by the government.
shadowsofnineveh 2 years ago
Actually, in Venezuela there are only 2 state-run channels. 90% of Venezuelan media is privately owned. Sorry buddy. Look, I've presented the legal evidence in detail, you guys can just keep spinning bullshit out of thin air just like the Gorilaletti regime.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
i guess the BBC and the AP are full of it too, have you seen the latest news feeds?
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago
BBC and the AP are hardcore leftists. I can't listen to either of them no matter what country i am in. They only tell a partial leftist side of the story. Really though for every 1 right wing dictator, you will find 20 left wing dictators. How many current right wing dictators can you name vs. current left wing dictators. And the Scary thing is that the United Nothing and Obama Marx props up and heavily supports leftist dictators and tyranny.
shadowsofnineveh 2 years ago
I have, they are pretty balanced.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
From the BBC:
The Organization of American States (OAS) has given the interim Honduran government three days to restore ousted President Manuel Zelaya to power.

Jeremy Scahill has revealed that Zelaya wasn't even doing anything illegal:

so you love the guy and know so much, why did he no longer submit a budget to the elected congress and spent gov't money without telling anyone what the money was being spent on. what law covers that?
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago 2
Hey, if he did something wrong he needs to answer for it. But supposedly that happened in 2007. How does a two-year old controversy justify a 2009 coup? You people MAKE NO SENSE! You know you can't justify what is going on. And you guys still refuse to answer about the shutting down of the press, radio stations, soldiers firing on buses with students trying to go protest. THE WORLD KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON!
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
it started in 2007 and continued intil Sunday
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago
treason my friend, they didn't kill him like treason should be treated. if bush had lost it in the last two years of his rule, cut off congress completely, was runing a government that no longer answered to congress, any media, or the courts. make the media play his daily speeched. fires the military chief because he would not support his secret gov't. then he tries to change the constitution, it is treason
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago
Bush would have been arrested, the military would not have kidnapped him, thrown into Mexico and then proceeded to shut down MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, ABC, CBS etc., or shut down our radio stations. Bush would have been arrested and tried in court.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
You still cannot escape the fact that what the military did was illegal. The Honduran constitution forbids the expulsion of a citizen. And how does any of this justify shutting down the media, newspapers, putting soldiers in radio stations. The AP didn't link Zelaya to the drug trade, the article said the criminal coup plotters want to link him to the drug trade, which is just more laughable lying from a bunch of criminals.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
if bush or obama or any president, wanted to shread the consitution in the US after turning the gov't on it's head by spending money without any discloser, would not want the congress and courts to stand up for the constitution??? or do you submit power to a man who only has power b/c the constitution???
soundmoneyfan 2 years ago
Do you have ties to Honduras? Are you in daily phone communication with friends, ex-coworkers, family members, etc. like I am? In less than 24 hours the world has jumped into whatever the media has reported; one side of the story.
There is no coup! Are the military in control of the government in Honduras? If your answer is yes, then I would say to you stop writing, go do more research and come back in a few days. Then you will give a different opinion IF you believe in freedom and democracy.
HFUNES 2 years ago 3
Actually I am in contact with people in Honduras, I work as a scholar and researcher. Yes, we all know the sector of Honduran society that can afford continuous long-distance phone calls as well. Stop spreading your propaganda.

It wasn't a coup; it was a CONSTITUTIONAL PRESIDENT TRANSITION be clear don't base opinions in a couple of images that you have from the media showing soldiers enforcing THE LAW mandated for the other 2 powers THE CONGRESS and the SUPREME COURT. Let's inform the world with the truth because now communism from the south is trying to invade our country Honduras.
show555 2 years ago
You're an idiot. The military has shut down the media, is arresting journalists, beating protesters. They kidnapped the president and dumped him into another the country. That's not a "transition," that is a COUP. You're a fucking fool. Go educate yourself.
AndrewMann552 2 years ago
If he had all the congress, courts etc., against him, why didn't they prosecute him according to the law and ousted him? Why send in the military kidnap him, arrest his cabinet, shut down the media etc.? That is very much a coup.
