They aren't slow at all. I had two in SLI for years and they never found a game they couldn't play.. but the latest were low FPS.

Crysis and GTA on a 19" were okay on medium settings.. and games like Hitman Blood Money, Surpreme Commander and Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 works fine on the highest settings.

wow for some reason i have a 256 mb graphcis card (ATI Raedeon 9600/9550/X1050 series) and it runs gta 4 at 25fps but it funs WoW (lowest detail) at 8 fps... and my laptop has Intel Mobile Family Series 4 and it runs WoW at 30 fps and its no where near as good as ATI Radeon 9600/9550/X1050 how come my ati card sucks so bad on world of warcraft? my other comp has it and its 60fps on world of warcraft

No, W7 if far better with performance that Vista could ever be straight out of the box. W7 matches XP in performance, if not better. It processes tasks in a more complex way using the new WARP feature which uses the cpu to do all the things the gpu would usually do. ie; desktop enhancements and graphics. The cpu handles all of that. And this works with 10 year old pc's aswell.

These days it's probably better to go straight to the 8800, they aren't incredibly expensive anymore, less than most models are less than 200, some even lower than 100. The 8600 GTS is half as powerful as the 8800.

I have one of these cards and it is awesome. I can play every game out. I can get crysis on high settings. And pretty much every other game . On CS:S i can get 200 fps with everything on high and AA on. Same with hl2. Great card an now there really cheap.

Don't get this card man, for the same price as two of these you can get an EVGA 8800GT Superclocked like mine. And 2 x 8600GTS' do NOT equal an 8800GT Alpha Dog, barely any games support SLi meaning you might only get a 10FPS increase over one of these cards.....

Sorry i forgot to include, Crysis will not run good AT ALL even on two of these, it'll run 45+ all the time high settings with the EVGA 8800GT Superclocked, COD4 and RSV2 will run on this card 100FPS all the time, it is also wise to cap your FPS to whatever the refresh rate is of your monitor, 1440 x 900 is a 69hz i believe, so cap your FPS to that to avoid jagged movement, as your card is sending your screen 100+ FPS all the time, and your monitor can only do 69, resulting in missing frames

even with sli, you can't run anything at 16x anti-aliasing, because the 256mb will be a huge bottleneck, because both of them will have to put the entire maps in the memory. So even with with sli, you effectively will still have 256 mb

Your all wasting your money on a 8600 GT. Save your money, spend another $30-40 for a 8800 GT 512MB O.C. version it's not even the cost of 1 game! Get the MSI NX8800GT 512M OC on Newegg. Its fast, quiet & has a 4 heat-pipe cooler and runs $180 with rebate. Its FAR faster than a 8600 GT. You can overclock it FURTHER than the factory OC and you'll be glad you got this card.
