Dude, I got to tell you man, I've been playing this song all weekend, It's a blast to play! I can't get that 32nd foot beat down but eh' practice, practice, practice. Any hints?
@guitardds Practice stepping down on the hi-hat on 1/4 or 8th notes while your bass foot plays 32nd notes on the "uh" of the beat. 1/16th = 1-e-an-UH, 2-e-an-UH, etc. Do that also using the ride or playing the hi-hat with a stick. Let me know if that works for you, I'd be very curious and it'd be very helpful to know the effectiveness of verbal instructions.
Thanks man:) Sorry, been away from the set due to illness, but yes, I love the instructions. Very helpful. I can hear it in my mind, I just can't get that triplet on my foot pedal. I do the toe-drop foot method. I've never gotten the whole heel-toe method. Dunno, maybe that's what I need to do to increase pedal speed. Thanks a lot for the info though!
@bondoguy Thanks, appreciate you checking the cover. For this cover I used the Roland sounds, these days I'm triggering drum sample software. Yes this is a song that gets a lot rotation in our church services too. Rock on!
@magicja It wasn't perfectly lined up, it's a bit off. That could happen playing over a recording as I may not hear the song track well in my mix, but I should keep going playing catch up.
Awesome cover! btw, do you play reading the sheet music? Cause I play by listening and "feel" and noticed some things you do that I never would have done unless i knew how every note went for the drums.
I have to play this for a chapel service in a few days and I am having trouble because of the awkward beats (well i think) any tips on how to simplify this in any way
@rhythmantic Thank You, I am not an amazing drummer but can hold my own for a while, would you recommend any fills of any type? or just keep it simple
@starwarsmattyboy Play the fills that you can execute without sacrificing the time and only to go from Intro to verse, verse to chorus, and back again.
Please keep them coming. I'll be playing this one Sunday and will probably be practicing your fill @ 3:08 ( hehe ) Great job ,,, Hosanna is still my favorite!
@gogteach thank you for your encouragement. It is a blessing & a privilege to play drums in His service. Thanks for checking it out. God bless you too in whatever you do.
a question for u. Do u have the tabs of this song? cause i need it .. i am a novice drummer , and first i read the tabs, when i learn more i will can play the song without tab. Thank you very much man, ,
@ovni95 Thank you. I don't use drum tabs, if I do use a chart it's one written with standard drum set notation. Sorry I can't help you. Keep watching my video, hopefully that will be of some help. Thanks for watching. God bless your drumming.
@killerchicken57 I wouldn't know as I don't use charts for praise songs, and if I do, such as in a church service, they would be ones that I've transcribed. Thanks for watching.
@TheCrazedmuscian Thanks, I am blessed when other Christian drummers use my videos as tutorials in learning songs for God's kingdom work on earth. This video should demo how I'm playing it, I wouldn't know how else to break it down.
@TheCrazedmuscian I've given it some more thought, or most likely the Holy Spirit has prompted me, to consider doing a tutorial on this drum cover, so I need some feedback from you, what in particular would you like to see covered? I await your reply.
@rhythmantic Probably fill timing because i am still young in age and in playing on stage so i usually dont throw in fills..but maybe with a little guidance ill get up enough bravery to try throwing a fill in sometime
@lefty248 It would just be the audio of the drums and I would send it via email to whoever wanted it. So any worship/praise songs I cover from now on out will be available.
NO THANKS BUT JUST AS A FOLLOW UP i WAS ONLY REFERRING TO YOU DOING THESE SAME VIDEOS JUST WITH OUT THE BACK TRACK NOT SPENDING TIME IN A STUDIO ALL FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF KINGDOM OF GOD

@lefty248 Yes, I regret that I didn't track to an audio editing program and save the drum track when I did these videos. But going forward, I will track the drums so it will be available for those who want it.
have you ever thought of doing this and other videos with out the backing track so many of our worship teams are with out good drummers yet dont want to be stuck doing only non drum songs.. I have looked I cant find any drum tracks for songs
@lefty248 Yes I have. I have been asked on a number of occasions and because of the time & effort involved I would have to charge a fee for such a service. Are you interested?
@DaveFordMusic Lincoln used to play with Steve Perry (Journey). He, along with the bass player, Norm Stockton, are stellar players with some serious chops. Glad you like it and as always, thanks for listening and commenting.

Dude, Love it man! Question, at :28 how are you getting that triplet sound? is that all foot? that's way fast if so on a single pedal.
guitardds 1 month ago
@guitardds Thanks. Yes, that is a either a triplet or 32nd note with a single bass foot.

@rhythmantic - nice work for sure - that's a triple plus a phantom fourth... :)
