Dave Ingram's contemplative, mournful growling really adds up to the post apocalyptic landscapes of this album. It really sounds like eternal war, all passion, every personal motive, everything is gone, except for endurance and only a handful of abstract values from a time long past remain. I am not at all sure Karl Willetts would have done it any better.
@TheMetal4all No. Six Feet Under is Chris Barnes, ex-Cannibal Corpse. In this record only, it's Dave Ingram, ex-Benediction. Normal BT singer is Karl Willetts. They all sound quite alike because they are old school. As it should be. Brutality in vocals because of attitude and standalone performance, not production values.
just taking all the bolt thrower songs, along with a few others, and making a playlist....this is the shit we playin as we rollin into Iraq...and wherever else they send us.....perfect music for the perfect job...
@johnnyz528hb badass man. just FYI, johhny jihad's hate rammstien, so maybe you should put some of there stuff on your playlist also. if you want some reccomendations see my playlist
@johnnyz528hb this must be epic as shit in iraq, thank you for serving, whatever my opinions on the war are, I respect soldiers, they don't make the wars
Great song, great vocals. I agree with urizen 123- where a band comes from is totally irrelevant. Great metal music is all that matters, it transcends petty nationalism and national boundaries.
My favourite band, the unconquerable gods of death metal! But i think Karl's unique growl should be here, to make the real feeling of the band's music structure.
Ok, I'm afraid I'm going to have to subject you to a mini-rant.
I'm getting a little tired of the preconceptions people have about a band's country of origin having any bearing on the quality of music.
I realize this is positive stereotyping (you're complimenting the music) but it's stereotyping none the less. I'm sure people from Norway or Sweden feel like this all the time -
Those idiots who automatically assume a Black Metal band is better, or more "kvlt" if the band is based in those countries, etc...
Your comment is indicative of your own ignorance - you assume the band is more proficient because "Things are like, totally dark and grim and medieval in England, ya know!"
Come on now. I suppose you think I wear a kilt 24 hours a day, keep a hip-flask of Maccallan whisky on me at all times, and own a sword collection?

When I think of the music of a battlefield, or just music that captures the essence of bloodshed and war, I think of Bolt Thrower.

The main riff from this just contains 0,2,3 and 5 ( in tabs speaking )th fret of the C string. What many lame bands ( like scars on broadway ) use.
How come Bolt Thrower makes such a tasty riff from this?
This is pure gold, if not the best riff from the album.
