I have just recently started collecting the supplies needed to mix my own glazes. I've been working with clay less than a year and in many ways still learning the basics :)
Beautiful pots (and potter!!)... Too bad I'm an old man! You like that Light Stormy Blue too. How did you get the effect with the dark and light blue speckles on the big plate?
Ah, Coyote colors. I have some of them for brushing, although I do very little brushing anymore. I hate it! That's why I went to dipping. You had to have dipped those shallow bowls. I love the piercing too. I'm using Standard 240 clay but I am having bottom cracks no matter how much I compress if the piece is big. Grrrrr. Is the Laguna forgiving in that regard?
Yea, I have had some serious cracks even beyond the infamous S cracks AND I dry them in a plastic cabinet that has a couple of wet towels in them to slow dry them. It usually takes several days before they are dry. Very strange. It only happens on large bases so it has to be shrinkage problems. I'll figure it out. I saw a neat idea where you first throw a flat base to the thickness you want, lay a coin on it, then more clay. Open down to coin and go from there. Gotta try that.
I'm doing the same at cone 10 reduction. My problem is finding a good body to fit the glazes.

Nice glazes. Is that cone 10 redux or cone 6 ox?

I used Coyote Glazes. ^6 Electric. I'm now going through the frustrations of making my own glaze. :)

I like the coyote stuff... I am in a "raku phase" so not using them as much. But they sure seem to work well for you and your pieces.

The very first covered jar at 0:6--is that also a Coyote glaze? I think it's spectacular.

LOL. Thanks for the kind words.
The blue on the shallow bowl is Coyote "Mottled Blue" on Laguna "B-3 Brown" clay. I'm not sure why it turned out kind of spotted, but I like it too.

I dip glaze also. Brushing is a lot of work. Besides, I like the results of dipping.
Laguna must be forgiving, because I rarely get S cracks. Cracks on the bottoms may also be a result of rapid drying.
:)

I like the bowl with the holes around the rim and your covered jars too. Thanks for sharing.
