I just beat these guys on New Game. Level 50, it was kinda easy. I used Quelaags furysword, and the fastest roll. You're absolutely right about knowing when to attack and when to back the f**k off. When Ornstein rushed to me i used two handed and got him down pretty fast. When Smough did a straight hammer attack, i avoided that and got 2 or 3 hits on him. When he jumps up and smashes his butt down the floor with lighting, i broke lock on and rolled away twice. It works! (without ninjaflip ring)

I did this with the black knight greataxe and a tower shield was really easy to kill smough first since he just blocks off ornstein and you can pretty much block everything and just sidestep to avoid his grapple and roll away for his slam

@CohenTheWhiteRabbit the giant black smith is actually ebfore the brothers, the big hall that has the silver knight on top, and the two giant knights on bottom, its across the wall and down the stairs. If you message me, ill give you ebtter directions and a way to kill the brothers easily.

From the staircase where you walk in, take an immediate left and go all the way up that hall (instead of going down the stairs) follow it around and you'll find an area with windows and a broken one. Go past that and take a right, then go through the door on your left and follow that down to get to the blacksmith

I'm SL 130 ish, with about 60 something STR and was using a weapon with an S rating on Str scaling, and I didn't do anywhere near as much damage as you did.

I fucking love this fight, it's 100% my favorite, and I always love getting 2 others with me and just watching the fuckin chaos insue. These guys are no joke especially on NG+

As far as taking the fun out of the fight that's my personal opinion and preference, he likes that style of dexterity play so that's fine for him. What I personally didn't like was exploiting their move speed and using that against them. As the phantom it's the same deal except you can't rely on your host to heal you (cuz there are bad hosts and you cna't deny that) so you have to play much more cautiously and it keeps you on your feet. Forcing a already slow NPC to get hung up on a pillar and having free shots at him, is not my idea of fun. Nor is kiting a slower NPC so you can kill the faster

@Rereversed Probably so. I can't really say, as I haven't tried either, but the lightning Avlyn is a popular elemental xbow. If I were a strength build, I would either use the Composite Bow from New Londo or try out an elemental.

For all of the bad things about elemental weapon balancing in this game, it does give you a way to use a large variety of weapons whether or not they scale with your stats. I still think they need to be dialed back a bit, though.

@Smartuur Yeah, Orn can chase you down and punish if you're not quick about it. But the easiest way I've done it was just chilling behind the Eagle Shield and blocking everything except the lightning. With enough stability / stamina, you can just ignore Smough's charge completely.

Greatshield is ridiculously good here. I could basically just tank shit out, since I've got a load of stamina too. The lightning though, dat shiet hurts like hell.

This was a pretty beast fight. Me and my friend fought them together and the fight was allot more intense then when we fought them by our selves in our first through. in fact the whole game feels allot different then when you play through it with a friend.

Do you think the bosses difficulty and health gets raised up when you have a partner with you or do you think we are just being more clumsy then usual because we have a friend with us.

@AlexhiroX They get a health boost, but otherwise they are the same. If the AI or attack patterns changed in multiplayer.... that would be so sweet. However, they don't :(

The health boost for bosses doesn't matter for most fights, but it can be a problem on Four Kings if one player isn't doing good damage. But yeah, on the fights where I have done co-op, I've noticed that it's easy for me to get sloppy because I have help. Now I try to play like there's no one else there.

@Effret777 @cheddarkorv Yup, Black Bow of Pharis +15 with 40 Dex and the Red Tearstone Ring activated. I took the hits as I was killing Ornstein so that the Tearstone would activate and speed up the last part of the fight.

hi epic.. what was your Vit Stats in this fight > i noticed you are not using the ring of protection but you had a good a mount of HP.. I'm on level 92 Dex built, i'm using the Makouto large curved sowrd. it's bad ass with the dex bulit, give it a try.i upgraded it to +15 and use fire, poisn, electric resim ,i don't use any magic or faith except for heal and i use a lot of pyro if needed ,, i'm at the final area PvP are fun, love this game to death ,, i wish they make a new souls game already XD
