Look for "Sirens' Song" as the artist, and there is an album with this song, but you could also trying searching "Over the Sea to Skye", as I found it that way.
Someday when I have children (way off in the future) If I ever have a daughter, I'm going to name her Katrine after the loch, and I'm going to sing her this song as a lullaby without the war verse.
@sarahedwards2 The war verse? The whole song is about the second Jacobite rebellion and Charles Edward Stuart (the young pretender) fleeing to Skye to escape the massacre at Culloden.
@19Natascha You can download this with real player, then get a free converter (youtubevideo converter) and convert it to MP3. I've done this with many songs on here.
Not quite. It's written by the Jacobites after their failed rebellion at the Battle of Culloden, and Bonnie Prince Charlie escaped to Skye by sea. It wasn't Scotland vs England, but Jacobites & France vs Britain.
Many of the British troops were actually Scottish themselves. :)
@inuyasha42297 I first heard this song many years ago and I started crying immediately, although I did not hear the words. I found out the name of the song, looked up its words and its history and found out that Flora MacDonald, an ancestor of mine was the woman who helped Bonnie Prince Charles escape to the Isle of Skye from those who were planning to kill him at Culloden. My Great-grandfather and family came to Canada from Skye to Prince Edward Island. I would love to visit Scotland.
@scottishlassie1000 Bonnie Prince Charles escape to the Isle of Skye from those who were planning to kill him at Culloden??????
It was war he started. You can hardly blame those he was trying to kill. After all he was trying to kill them. And although I think this is a beautiful song I think it is a real shame it is about a man as cowardly and inept as Charles Stuart.
@letstorkbollocks Agree totally. It was him who destroyed Scotland, and only in pursuit of the seat of power in London and of undoing all the democratic gains since 1688! Jacobitism is barmy romanticised authoritarianism.
There is another song to this tune which is nothing to do with the sodding Jacobites at all. But it's a church hymn, which also is not everyone's cup of wine. I think it's quite a nice gnostic spirity-ghosty song, not too religiously severe: it's called Spirit of God Unseen.
Singing this is small group singing

Sorry if this offends anyone, but I see Scotland looks so much like Ireland. Both are uncomparably beautiful.
