It's so annoying to hear this guy continually bash Jobs and Gates for being ego-maniacs. Steve Jobs sat and explained exactly how the XEROX researches created the GUI. He said that XEROX could have owned the computer industry! I don't feel bad for XEROX, their executives didn't have the right vision.
If you think about it Larry Ellison was thinking of an iPad: a "TV screen" (in this case a giant touch screen), constant Internet connectivity (3G service), and an App store. Probably didn't think it would come from Apple though.
@iDraw3G No he was not. Larry Ellison was talking about accessing all the content you want in one place. The device would "work" like a T.V. where you can see and use all of it. Something that Apple is doing right now with iOS and interconnected devices speaking to each other.
In the future developers will drive the market not the O.S. or hardware. They will create it and sell it without boxing anything. It will go straight to the front end selling, and that is where the war is headed.
@cmdugan It is what Larry Ellison is talking about. The iPad with iTunes connected 24\7 you can get anything you want, from audio\video\books\information in one place. I see this as the computer of the future in the next 5 years. If you look close at intel you will see the CPU having all the features of a main stream mother board in one package for the hardware. The rest is war who will be the application provider and the platform it will run on. Apple has the head start with iOS and iPad so far
We're talking holy war we're talking rivers of blood and fields of dead martyrs to the cause of greater computing. We're talking about a guy who sees the personal computer as his tool for changing the world. We're talking about Steve Jobs.
Lmao ironically 10 years later Apple has Steve again n owns the tech industry once more while Microsoft stalls a bit! I love competition between these 2 its kinda like Pepsi vs Coke!
@Gregz0r1 He came out with a 3 part series titled "Nerds 2.0.1: A Brief History of the Internet" in 1998, it mostly revolves around the history of the internet and what the future may hold.
I urge everyone to watch all three episodes in order. I just learned so much about how this industry REALLY grew and developed. I'd only seen very short snippets previously, but this series has given me a much broader understanding.

Bill Gates making software for Steve Jobs? What is this? Never thought that would happen.

It's nice to see Gates honoring his development team. Would Jobs do the same? I have my doubts.

@cmdugan the ipad isn't a tv screen, you idiot. He was literally talking about accessing the internet through television, not a device like the ipad
