  • BMW e21 elektra, hmmm good work...

  • Hi Mike,

    I live in Raleigh and I am converting a 1987 Nissan Pick-up.

I would love to chat with you about my project. Are your still out there? James Mount, jmount@nc.rr.com

  • People should push "clunkers to e-plug-ins conversion" for the future industry. Gov't would have more job creation in recycling and environment industry. This creates competition, training, inspection and research development among auto parts vendors as well. The impact for the entire auto industry will be at least ten folds. People should build ready to ship qualified demo package, refurnish and pricing for major models that are still on the road as well. They can be exported as well.

  • That is a very good idea.......

  • sounds good

  • It's been a long time since I heard an accent from NC (was born and raised there). This guy looks a lot like one of my uncles. Simple and to the point video.

  • This guy is stuck in the old american way of building tanks, listen how many times he uses the word "strong"

Too late for him, he'll never get it.

  • dam, I wanted to start but dont have any of these tools

  • Is it me, or does the cameraman sound a little condescending?

  • yeah, but its hard not to be when you take the role of "interviewer."

  • Do a google search on Electricity4Gas

The site shows you how to do your own electric car conversion on your own car

  • bmw's are built like tanks. it's called german technology and design. superiority, etc. yet some losers would like to see germans dead. incredible.

  • Thank you sir for putting America back on the map. You're teaching people to learn how to be old school with new school ideas and ambitions. To dream the impossible dream. Just Do It, you go dude!!!

I'm sorry, I don't recall you giving your name.

I sure wish Governor Doyle would appoint a team of enthusiasts to learn from you and bring the trade back to Wisconsin to teach in all our tech schools. How much are you charging the Mexicans & Australians for your workshop?

    God Bless

  • if this guy making eletric cars...I want one..where do i buy?,,,i am a poor man!

  • would somebody PLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE tell YouTube that if they want to limit us to 500 character replies, why don't they build in something that warns us when we have gone over the limit?!!! gggggrrrrrrrr

  • They listened. Remaining character count/Characters over limit.

  • luckiestbastard: LOL...yeah, I noticed it's been working for a few weeks now. It's a major improvement to not have to guess how many characters our comments have.

  • bottom right!

  • Thanks for the info

  • I would like to know more does he actually build the motor from scratch? are there more videos? Is this part of an entire how to tape? I really wish I could find a step by step video.

  • No motor from scratch. Thats just dumb when there are large electric off the shelf motors.

  • well I cant find any for sale any where what would be a good one to buy and for how much?

  • evparts (dot) com

  • where are you located? Google Electric Auto Association. They have a state-by-state list of dozens of groups all over the country you can link up with that can help you put an EV conversion together. If there is no group very close to you, start your own chapter.

There are 5 specific things you'll need: an electric motor, battery pack, controller, and an adapter plate 2 connect the motor 2 the transmission or drive shaft, and some means of connecting the motor 2 the motor mounts. (cont'd.)

  • cont'd to anewlow23: for motors google Hi-Torque Electric, Thunderstruck Motors, or if you can only afford something less powerful Advanced Motors and Drives... or get one locally. Controllers: Cafe Electric, Tommey Lee Reed, Curtis, or others... batteries: depending on budget, any deep discharge battery such as Orbit, or A123 Systems, but you need a battery management system to keep from ruining them by unbalanced charging... try Tek Battery, Go-Wheel, EV battery. Good luck!

  • update: Go-Wheel is at best unreliable, at worst a scam. Don't do business with them until I can say they have cleaned up their act.

  • GO WOLFPACK!!!

  • Very interesting. Thx a lot for sharing!

  • brilliant! This has really helped me to realise that doing my own ev conversion is possible rather than just a pipedream...

  • oh man, thx for uploading Part B so fast too. It's too interesting to only watch half of :)
