  • i really don't like political songs or songs that are trying to make a moral point, but the tune itself is beautiful and her singing is fantastic.

  • @IrishMick71180 T'is the greatest thing on Earth

  • As someone who is black british this song is beyond words

  • heartbreakingly beautiful.......

  • @knightschwartz If she was of the world, you would love her.

  • A beautiful voice and face and human and another wayward liberal...but I love her art

  • What a beautiful song and girl!

  • Sinead was an artist before her time, that was so in-tune with the anomalies of particularly the lower socio-economic class in the British Isles, that she was prepared to voice it - without reservation - in her songs. Equally a romantic with sorrowful honesty, the lyrics with that voice that would stop you in your tracks, provide an artist and a soul like few others of her generation.

  • BEST VOICE EVER!

  • Margareth Thatcher on TV Shocked by the deaths that took place in Beijing It seems strange that she should be offended The same orders are given by her I've said this before now You said I was childish and you'll say it now 'Remember what I told you If they hated me they will hate you' England's not the mythical land of Madame George and roses It's the home of police who kill black boys on mopeds And I love my boy and that's why I'm leaving I don't want him to be aware that there's
  • Any such thing as grieving

    Young mother down at Smithfield

5 am, looking for food for her kids

In her arms she holds three cold babies

And the first word that they learned was 'please'

    These are dangerous days

To say what you feel is to dig your own grave

    'Remember what I told you

If you were of the world they would love you'

repeat chorus n thts it now someone post this please n with words?

  • PERFECT!

  • Remember the outrage when she tore up a picture of the pope, because everyone at the time was ignoring the widespread PEDOPHILIA that dominates the catholic priest community?

How dare anyone stand up to defend those twisted criminal psychopaths!

Seems to me the evidence has pretty well vindicated her outrage now.

  • Gives me shivers

  • This and Drink Before the War are two of my favorite political songs of all time. Sinead O'Connor is breathtakingly talented. Her voice touches my soul.....

  • oh god

  • Love this.

  • Voice,guitar and soul.This is Sinéad O'Connor!

  • this song always makes me cry because this was the last song my mom's friend sang before he passed♥

  • I always loved this song....especially her reference to China....that meant a lot, coming from Hong Kong. .....but she attacked everybody, including the catholic Church and the UK government........things were so rough in Northern Ireland.....but she stood out a a mighty fine folk singer. When I am alone at night working on my computer, finishing work, I listen to this album and wish her the best,

  • Always so poignant

  • I love you Sinead O'Conner.

  • Who Watches the Watchmen?

    ~Outward Change Begins Within~

  • I saw her many years ago at a small venue, I was about 15 feet from her. Sheer genius, sheer brilliant genius.

  • Not everyone in the USA hates you Sinead, I know quite a few who would love to see you in concert here in the states. Well for me, in Pittsburgh, Pa area. At any rate, its a shame such a beautiful singer was forced out by the sheeple. Much love Sinead!!! You are an AMAZING SINGER/SONG WRITER!!! I miss you in the US!!

  • This is yet one more beautiful song, by a beautiful singer/song writer. Its a shame that we, well not me but the FUCKING USA judged her for ripping up a damn photograph. What ever happened to "FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION?" Like many things in this F-ED up Country, its only a freedom if the MASS PUBLIC ACCEPTS IT AS SUCH!! Short of that, good luck. Sinead is a perfect example. She makes great music, we in the US lose out due to some fool blasting her for having an opinion.

  • @Mizaun74 Considering how the Church runs she was on to something way before we ever were.

  • brilliant

  • genius and brilliant

  • Don't look up recent pics of her whatever you do.

  • @mikecat23

Saw her perform last night in Amsterdam.. Looks somewhat different these days indeed.. haha

  • @Hongerigekat Lucky......You were in Amsterdam AND U got 2 See Sinead?

  • @sooofunny37

I live next to Amsterdam so that's not a big thing ;)

  • looks like fifteen trolls are for slavery

  • Thank you for this wonderful post.

  • Thumbs up if Amanda Palmer brought you here!!!

  • Thank you Amanda Palmer..! :)

  • In the words of Archie Bunker when his daughter said how many people were killed by handguns each year in the USA (29569 last year) He replied," Would you rather they were pushed out of windows?". And you lot thought the USA wasn't addressing the gun issue!

  • Chevelle did a great cover of this song

  • dont do it, you have so much to live for. Who the hell would build a kingdom, an absolute. To gather men at your words and gather woman as fruit. and give it all up so the blind may see. all the big markets, ghosts in the making, and children born dammin their creation.

  • dark and painfully beautiful. "These are dangerous days to say what you feel". Ain't that the truth?

  • her music reminds me of Tracy Chapman

  • o_o huh? dont look like he black to me??

  • how the goats look at the mother of creation with distainful eyes.

  • like blake drew, a black angel perched in the sun, over seeing the moon. theyre all looking at the mother of creation.

  • fucking genius, with some of the best lines ever recorded. if you don't love this, it's doubtful you have a soul or much interest in music, imo...

  • I can't think of anyone else who has such a perfect voice, even when they are "live"

  • @LamentingHarlot petshop boys and phil collins, saw them in concert

  • @eihdo kudos for liking the ever-brilliant pet shop boys, but please don't compare the odious twat phil collins to Sinead.

  • I wish people would stop living in their superficial worlds and pay attention to what actually matters.

  • @sasukefan012606 Not everything matters the same to everyone. But I agree it is high time people take life more seriously and figure out what they will find important today, tomorrow and forever and do something with it, regardless of what that is.

  • I wish they played this song during the royal wedding, but why would we want to disrtract them with anything real?

  • si vieux mes toujour tres bon

  • One of the bravest, most honest musical artists to ever hit the big time. This one makes me cry to much to cover it, I don't know how she gets through songs like these. So tapped in to the life force that she's outside of it at the same time.

  • to me this is her best song. flawless version. beautiful, timeless, and haunting..

  • @system922 me too <3

  • O bom d++ me lembra muita coisa!!!!!

  • This was the first 'grown up' song I learned to play on guitar - gonna rework it now to sound more like her playing ( shame about my voice!!)..... esp now that I have three children! - thanks for uploading....

  • What a shame she isn't recording anymore - what an insanely talented woman

  • she is a wierd mush though seriously ha ha

  • absolutely beautiful voice, and song. amazing.

  • God.....how do you become that good? You can'tt I suppose. It's just innate raw talent

  • the only woman sho will look so insanely gorgeous with a shaved-head..that's only Sinead o connor!!!

  • A country with an unarmed police force could inspire make such a beautiful song. I love Sinead anyway. The song is based on fantasy.

  • @warriorprince1010 You don't need guns to kill. Police brutality can be administered by other means...like that poor bastard who was beaten by the British cops just because he didn't walk past them fast enough during that protest...the one who died from a heart attack later as a result of the beating.

British police are as brutal as any other country's coppers are.

  • @KennBurch Police brutality is again very rare in the UK. The UK police kill less people than almost any other, by guns or by other means I am afraid. Having guns does make killing easier, thats why I am against guns.

  • @KennBurch Have you ever travelled at all? I can assure you from experience that British Police are not as brutal as any other police.

  • This singer HAD the best voice ever.. No one will never sing as she used to...not even Celion Dion, who still has an amazing voice... but Sinead's tone and voice HAD something special, so sweet and powerful at the same time,,, it's a pity that Sinead has not been able to keep his voice "healthy".... She's a real artist anyway!

  • @lleidabizarre You can't compare Sinead and Celine as singers...Sinead's voice was and is raw and real, Celine's voice is technically brilliant but has no heart or soul behind it...it's passionately empty.

  • Not heard this before. But it is beautiful. Although the British police have some of the lowest numbers of shootings of any police force in the world

  • Thumbs up if you think this is a masterpiece of a song and Sinead is a beautiful genius. This song is so powerful.

  • @aderandie2 BECAUSE! she wants to prove that women are tough! and also being your slef is ok! at least shes to pretty for longer hair!!

  • what a good song

  • she is so beautifull

  • Bob Marley and Sinéad O'Connor , ambassadors of political and social conscience!!! We need more of them. Peace and love for everyone!!

  • beautiful voice

  • Black boys on Mopeds. Whose are they?

  • @MassahSwampsMadraSSa isn't that obvious dude!!!!!!

  • Love Love Love and it still moves my spirit.

  • She sits up there, and tells a story with this song.

Check out Chevelle's acoustic version of this song.

  • @noahmcdx I love that version so much. It's a great song and it's played by my favorite band.

  • @noahmcdx I love that version so much. It's a great song and it's played by my favorite band.

  • @WhatTheDuctProDucts same here.

  • I think there is a difference between a simple artist and what we were treated with in Sinead. Her song writing and melodies were simply genius.

And being a stupid male, I can't help being moved by her beauty. No one stirs me like this other than my wife, Jennifer Connoly, and Salma Hayek.

  • @MurphysLaww i dont know ur wife but Salma Hayek does it 4me. cheers dude

  • @MurphysLaww Very well said :-)

  • @MurphysLaww

I came on here to comment and saw that you had posted almost word for word what I was going to say. I can't imagine who would be worthy of her, for a lover or even a friend. Most of Sinead's music moves me to tears with emotion. I would just like her to know that she is loved.

  • @MurphysLaww

:) Find the female within and your male can accomplish a lot without fear of hurt

  • @MurphysLaww I'm totally in agreement with your comments. I bought several of her CD's when they first came out, but the more I listen the more I'm moved by her emotion. She truly has a great voice, and her lyrics have substance. She made a statement, and I think this turned many people off, but the hell with them. Have you listened to Beth Orton at all?

  • @MurphysLaww i agree with you on the first paragraph and the first setence to the secon one but the rest...she stirs you up???!!!! YOUR GROSS!!!!

  • @MurphysLaww Natalie Portman, no?

i only ask because they have the same look to my mind. both exquisite.

  • @mimilagogo I was just thinking the same thing

  • @mimilagogo No...although Sinead would have been amazing in Natalie's role in "V".

  • @MurphysLaww It's totally okay to be moved by her beauty....she is beautiful in and out! Why not appreciate her totally?

  • @MurphysLaww you need to be cloned

  • overmodulated-kills the sound

  • The 90s were still such an innocent time, people were shocked by a woman with a shaved head, unable to see past it to her beauty and talent. I loved this song as a 9 year old girl and I still love it today. I'm not sure I understood it so well then, but I was captivated by the voice.

  • i cried the first 20 times i heard this song, so cathartic.....

  • Hell of a song, and it's true meaning is tragic. I researched the death of Colin Roach, a young black motorist in England who died while in police custody. The truth about his death is still not known to this day. Fuck rogue cops ! Sinead O' Connor has a ton of courage to bring this to everyone's attention.

  • she could do modeling if she wants to...she could have a huge deal with pretty face--but she will NEVER TRADE ANYTHING FOR HER KIDS---THATS TOTALLY WHAT I ADMIRED for Sinead... my big respect for you Miss O'Connor

  • great voice powerful and haunting in its genius

  • shes awsome! total role modle! i loved it when she ripped up that picture! she had a right to be pissed right... this song made me cry tho... :')

  • What an incredible talent. Too bad she was crucified for years after she tore up the picture of the Pope live on Saturday night live.

  • Epic

  • I like rap, rock oldies ,old school, but I love with passion, your music ......!

  • Is she a Neil Young fan?

  • omg shes beautiful

  • Such a sad story it was built on, but a beautiful song. Sinead is wonderful!

  • A beautiful soul a beautiful face a beautiful song

  • @Asskicker32294 no doubt shes gorgeous dude

  • Beautiful....Absolutely beautiful...She could do anything with that voice of hers.

    Makes me jealous. : )

  • to the point!

  • did she turn the other cheek to bear my burdens too. like christ lowers the bowers of eden and gazes upon thee.

  • This is beautiful.

  • @MsWhoThisBe this is so sad but ilove it.

  • @rogerson61 Right?! I could cry a little when I hear it haha

  • @rogerson61 sweet deams darlin

  • Thumbs up if Lowkey brought you here!

  • @SMOTH1289 what's the Lowkey link by the way? Did he cover the song? If so, massive kudos to him.

  • @baboon2525 he posted a link on his twitter/facebook.

  • I Love The Lyrics <3

This Is The Kind Of Music I Love, Lyrics With Meaning (Y) xx

  • God, I remember this song so fondly. I feel like crying! Sinead deserves MUCH more applaud than she will ever receive. Sad World.

  • simply beautiful. So real.

  • WOW powerful.......awsome sing and voice, cheers S.O !!

  • My favourite of her songs.

  • This is an amazing song! The title can be a little misleading

  • i appreciate her music an really can speak to you

  • I like that..."They hated me...they will hate you"

  • WOW depressing!!!

  • i wish i knew of modern singers who evoke so much out of the song and the listener.

i'm sure they are around, i just have lost touch with it i suppose

  • jaya sinead

  • the sinead who writes songs with full meaning and emotion--thats a real artist

  • she whispers touched by the destituet or, deaths that took place...anyway shocked touched....and its maggie thatcher on TB.

  • The passion of the christ annoys the hell out of me....like our lady never lay willingly.

  • When I hear Sinead I hear a true soul and when I see her photos I see a pure soul

  • "and the first word that they learned was 'please'". Wow.

  • she's crazed but courageous.

  • @moeursalen

    Mad Love!

  • I love her voice! i am a 2nd soprano also.

  • on tb and eh the destitued place in beuruit...i explain everthing even the disastrers go give me one>?

  • hello sweet sinead with a sweet simellljust dropping by to watch you...I love you so much--thank you for your music...

  • Goodie from the past. Say what you will

  • Yeah, Lady Gaga could sing just like that. Live. No dancers. With guitar. Yeah

  • @Vengeance509

Actually Gaga has sung like that, she used to just sing with just her piano...theatrics are theatrics, but it doesn't mean that there still isn't a base of pure musicianship as well.

...with that said Sinead rocks. : )

  • So beautiful...........

  • Sinead O'Connor is too hot....She ought to be illegal !

  • love it...

  • i start it with maggy thather is the greatest human alive.

  • no jasne że super muzyszinek

  • the woman has "balls" and such talent!

  • genius meets goddess. very proud of you Sinead. Need more of you.

  • I have all Sinead's records. I remember the summer I bought her first CD in the 80's. Beautiful voice....

  • u can see she hates maggie thatcher, quite right too, she really has got a voice of an angel.

  • I cant believe this is 20 years ago!

  • Met her once. It's hard to explain but I could tell right away, could feel right away she was a very spiritual person, had a beautiful soul. I'm glad there are gorgeous people like her in this world.

  • justice it seems strange because

  • I just #love #Sinead

  • She can't sing badly. She just can't. Everything she sings turns into something magical.

  • absolutely amazing heart-wrenching experience. ....an angel, diva, apsara...

  • this song is beautiful ... and she is, too ♥

  • this song is beautiful ... and she is, too ♥

  • to say what you feel is to dig your own grave.
