I know what capos are/what they're for, but I'm saying instead of a real capo...a sock is being used...

@mastercool59 It's just for muting the strings there, if I remember correctly, capo ain't for that, it's for pressing the strings down on certain spots, like you do with index finger on barre chords. Not sure tho, I am a drummer.

@Nautamies You sir, are correct. Capo is to bring the open tuning to a higher note than you could tune (so you don;t snap strings). The rag or whatever is to mute any ringing during the open chords.
