The Title and Lyrics work in unison to reflect upon how Thom believes he became famous and successful. The lyrics are disjointed and vague with no concise point.

Well, I actually think that How I made my millions and videotape don't really sound alike. Any simillarities between the drumming sounds are purely coincidental because the "drumming sounds" in How I made my millions are just background noise. By the way, I think the mood the two songs create are very different. How I made my millions kind of creates a lonely empty-space kind of feeling while Videotape creates a kind of between life and death mood.

The drum sound that loops is somewhat similar in effect to the sound on this song (*which is Thoms bird at the time washing up apparently).
