I have bought st 1000 camera since six months ago. in general, this camera is a great camera, however, at this time I had a problem with the back and the scene menu button. The buttons are not working (like disabled), I do not know which part damaged is, whether the touch screen (but the display set button works fine - the set button location and back button are in the same location), firmware, or others. I have reset the camera but it didn't help. What should I do?
@0masdel0 Hi, 0masdelo! Is any other menus work? I think it has problem on the menu. You need to go a Samsng A/S center. I couldn't give you any tips for you. Good luck!
@samsungimaging yes, the others menus are work well, i cant find samsung A/S center around here, is there any firmware updates from samsung?and how to update it?
another update: i got the more ridiculous response from Samsung support when i asked for the GPS problem. they said - try using new batteries !! LOL !! .. not that it's not a good idea but please .. anyway .. no firmware update to address that issue yet from them, they said that "they will let me know when something becomes available" .. 'roit .. i may even still have the camera by then .. oh well !!
@0masdel0 as far as i know (and i just checked again right before posting this) there is no firmware upgrade for the CL65 yet. you can go to samsung's website and do a keyword search for "firmware", it will take you the firmware/software page, select photography->compact->cl65 and it should be there (but i didn't find anything yet).
Actually Samsung digital camera is much better than Sony! I had two Sony before. It had so many problems and Sony customer service sucks. they don't fix my camera and charged money. Fuck Sony
Hi everyone, i am constantly experiencing a problem with the GPS in this camera.
Every time i am on high elevations (on mountains for example) at 5-6 thousand ft or higher, just when the GPS is about to get a satellite fix and turn green, the camera totally freezes and the only way to reset or turn it off it to take the battery out !!
This is very frustrating - since the main reason i went with this camera was the GPS.
@APrintezis I have a similar problem, but it's not with the GPS, I recently bought the Samsung cl 65 on the bh store in NYC, I configured it and used it fine including the Wi-Fi, even connected on home share etc.. I for once reset the camera because a friend of mine wanted to buy it from me for a higher price than I bought it, then he backed down, so I had to reconfigure it again, as I tried to configure WIFI, the camera totally freezes when it's searching for a signal.
@APrintezis CONTINUING - I tried everything, I reset the camera numerous times, and tried everything literally, it just doesnt find an access point, if freezes before that!I've searched the web no firmware update, I'm thinking about taking it back and getting my money back.
@dantegf .. well then .. isn't carma a biotch? L O L !!! never sell to your friends at higher prices again : )) .. well, what can i say, it seems that you did something to it while resetting - no idea what but it's not the GPS. Maybe this camera is just too finicky overall with all this extra hardware (Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, Touchscreen, HD Video, Bar-code Scanner, Microwave oven) .. it's just too much for everything to work i guess : (
i picked up an st1000 today to replace my st500 which i bought yesterday.
the user interface that the st1000s and st500s share is my favorite that i have ever tried. unfortunately the st500 had a zoom mute during movie mode which i did not learn about until i got home. fail.
the st1000 does not have that disappointing feature and as such, is great for movie mode. how many other 720p slim cams let you pause during recording, then resume still in the same clip? better than average pics too.
also.. my favorite picture sharing web site is by far Picasa-Web .. and that was built into this camera. Sending pictures to Picasa over WiFi is a breeze!!! (the email feature is also very nice).
Face detection / recognition and shorting pictures by face or adding/editing favorite person list is a bit hard to navigate and adjust, but overall this pocket camera has it all.
P.S. you can also short by location (!) or date ..
i really enjoy using the 5x optical zoom while filming video !!! Samsung did a great job here .. the sound is also good .. and the fact that i can manually adjust the RGB - well !!! this is the 1st compact/pocket camera -that size- that i can do all these for 720p movies ..
BUT -- why are the YouTube videos only 30 seconds .. what a let down :(
maybe a future firmware upgrade can remove this restriction?
.. it is over wifi anyway (i.e. free to upload) .. so why not 10 minutes ?!?!? other direct YouTube uploaders don't restrict -that- much .. i hope this gets fixed.
@samsungimaging i just got the Samsung R10 .. an excellent compact Full HD video camera imo, i am very happy with it .. (still having issues with the CL65's gps thought) .. oh well : )
im a professional photographer i have 16 digital slr cameras with 259 lenses 5 compact cameras and I thing out of all my cameras that that camera is the best
i am not even close to your record, but since my first 1.3MP digital camera in 1998 i have had 'some' experience with those too.. my favorite brand was/is (by far) Canon and although i played around with several Nikon and various Casio, Fuji, Kodak, I always bought Canon.. that is until i bought this one, and i am VERY happy with it. This was the 1st compact camera that after 10+ years made me switch!! I think it was: size, the touch-screen and most of all the 720p video and GPS that did it.
Hi I consider buying this one (Samsung CL65) because i heard about it that it had everything...but I concerned about one thing: does it can videotaping? how long does it last?
By the way, how does the video taping look like? and how much memory itself can hold? please mention. thanks.
Thank you for comment,EVILAKUMA!! It's true that camera is just need for taking pics. But recently you'll find out the camera isn't just camera. It has lots of funny things to do with. Make your life better and happy memories you'll get with this. Thanks,EVILKUMA!!
this video looks a little short but i thihk it well explained the functions of GPS and Wi-Fi.
