It could be construed as such. Personally, as a transguy, I like the way she handles herself, ignoring them when they use her birth name and doesn't seemed concerned at what people think of her. Its an older show, hopefully comedy has progressed since then. Though I couldn't understand everything they were saying, I need subtitles! lol

Thanks for your sane, honest reply. My partner who is trans (projectdan) pointed it out to me as we are both Tennant fans and got somewhat icky feelings watching it. I don't believe Tennant is transphobic, but we were taken aback by this performance. Yeah, she doesn't seem concerned by the drunken guy banter. Of course, I suppose I just don't find the whole stereotypical barmaid scenario humorous regardless of who is in the barmaid role... And, I bet you appreciate the subtitles on BBC-A! :-)

Yeah, Its more the drunks that bother me than David's character. Yeah, I get that feeling too sometimes when I see transpeople on TV. Hopefully, in a few years (or now!) the media with be better versed at portraying transpeople respectfully. They are getting there. And subtitles FTW! Thanks for replying to my relpy. :-)
