  • Absolutely Brilliant, you made that so simple and easy to understand! Thankyou!

  • thank u and this healing brush technique is pure genius!

  • When you used the pink layer as a reference point to get rid of the texture on her skin, how did you get rid of th pink colour once you had brushed it onto her skin? you didn't explain that? :/

  • @Littleflame7 the healing tool does NOT actually import the color, so once he LET GO of the mouse button it healed the texture, and the color went away automatically.

  • When I Try To Brush Out The Texture It Just colours it black :/ Is There Something Im Doing Wrong??

  • @mangaforever1234, you need to make it a mask layer :)

  • @mangaforever1234 did you clock the little mask" icon at the bottom of the layers window first?

  • Thanks for showing us another way of masking. I absolutely love how simple it is to get that blend without losing the texture.

That's another knowledge in the bank.

  • Thanks for this fresh tutorial. You always learn something new. Please do not stop.

  • I love everything about your tutorial. But I am having a problem with using the healing brush on a new document. It starts off really well and then starts to paint the color ie, the bright pink right on my model. What am I doing wrong.

  • Great Tutorial!! Thank you. Love the Bronze Pavone texture. Does anyone know where I can get that?

  • 2 people dislike awesomeness. O_O

  • Just what I needed. Thank you so much!

  • thank u this is really helpfull. God bless u with all:)

  • awesome, thanks!!!

  • great method for removing texture but not hue..

now, if I add a texture, is there a way to keep the texture but remove the color..I tried luminosity blending after converting the texture to BW, but that didn't work

    Thanks

  • thank you! that is a great tip!

  • hi i am working on CS5 and am having some issues. i am sure it is only me being daft but when i use the healing brush and pick a spot with no texture, then try to use it... rather than working as a paint brush as yours did it simply drags a huge pink square over my image. it also happens with the spot healing brush and i find myself with a picture in picture, which is not pretty. it appears also to be irreversible in spite of it not being on that layer. any ideas??

  • Thank you. Excellent video.

  • thank you very much, i'm just starting to do a lot of photo shooting and photo editing, and this was very helpful.

  • Hello Sir! Is there any way to download those 3 textures? I hope to hear from you soon.

    Cheers :-)

  • @danielscoth

Go to deviantart [dot] com then take resources -> textures and I`m sure you will find some similar like these ones. Look for "vintage grunge textures".

  • @0spirits0

Thank you so much, That is very kind of you to respond on my question. All the best :-)

  • Great tutorial! The only thing I would add would be copying the first mask ( option click and drag from layer to layer on Mac) to the new texture layer, especially if there was time invested in detail. Then the copied mask could be taken further to remove texture from the dress. Thx for uploading!

  • Really cool. Thanks!

  • Nice tutorial..

  • Oh and I was hoping that you had more tutorials, but no. I actually understand what you're explaining! My teachers can be confusing sometimes! You made it easy!

  • wow, 2nd technique is amazing!!!! Thank you sooo much!

  • Thank you very much!

  • like that tutorial as well, but its too bad that we don`t get answers.

have the same problem with the erasing part at 7:01 and the colour stays in the image.

    What am i doing wrong?

    bye

  • This was recommended to me 1 yr ago. It was good then, it is still good now. it is the best tutorial in showing a variety of techniques in texturing in one video.

  • MAtt, where do you get the texture from??

  • Thank you Matt...Very helpful!!!

  • OMG! thank you....I really believe if I watch this I will learn layer texturing Thank you

  • Thank you very much Matt. This is very helpful!

  • I never really knew how to use the healing brush, and now I know and I'm excited to use it! Thank you :D!

  • A great tutorial...! Absolutely what I was looking for and wonderfully concise. Thank you very much. I will be recommending this tutorial to some friends of mine and searching for any more that you've done.

  • Thank You so much, timeless look

  • Thanks you very much and God bless you too, mate.

  • Thank you for sharing. Very informative and appreciate you making the video.

  • thaank you! :)

  • wonderful. thank you

  • Nice One Matt. Best texture layering tutorial I've seen. Thanks for sharing

  • Very useful and concise.

  • Thank you so much..its extremely helpful to say the least.

  • A couple other good sources for textures are: Get some scrapbooking papers at your local hobby shop (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc) and scan them in. Also, you can go to Lowes, Home Depot, Sears, etc. and get the little sample sheets of wall paper or paint and scan them in.

  • Very very well done. I needed to get this understood. I wanted to take my portraits to another level with textures and now I know how to start that process.

  • her left arm did get pink hue, if u nitice. maybe it's better to shoose similar color for removing texture.

  • Hello! I saw ur video and i liked it v.much but where can i find those textures????

  • @MsFxh there are groups on Flickr where ppl share textures for none commersial use. or you could buy textures on photobank sites like Istock or shutterstock

  • Well, I'm using your second method of "erasing" the texture with keeping the color of the layer, but no matter what color I use to fill the new image, that color leaches onto my photo that I'm trying to erase the texture on. It does seem to be erasing the texture, but it's not leaving the color as is. It's adding a hue of whatever color I'm using. Any suggestions? I AM using PSE, so maybe that has something to do with it? I would think that with this particular technique, it wouldn't matter...

  • THANK YOU! I have been searching google for days for a well-explained, easy-to-follow and understand tutorial on how to do this, to no avail. I was getting very frustrated to say the least! Thanks to this tutorial, though, I am well on my way to mastering adding textures! Woot! Thanks again!

  • VERY WELL DONE TUTORIAL

  • wow, this is one of the best tutorials I've seen on texture! thank you so much and keep up the great work! I would love to see more tuts from you! :D

  • I loved the tutorial although I got stuck on the best part which is getting rid of the color on the skin and making it blend. I am using CS3 and would like to know how to fill the new document with color and how to pull the color. Any help would be great!

  • Can you tell me where you got the Bronze Pavone texture - I love it!

  • I use Paint Shop Pro X2. Do you know if there is an equvilant to the healing brush in that program? I believe the blemish fixer would be the same as your spot healing, but not sure about the healing brush. Thanks! :)

  • Thank you SO much for this! I have always wondered how you kept the color from the texture, but not the texture itself!

  • Hi Matt,

u have a rare gift, excellent oration and manner, concise, right on the money dude.
