The flag is "backwards" because of tradition when flags were still carried into battle. When the blue is at the front of the flag, it is because the unit is charging into battle and the wind is pushing the flag backwards. When the blue is toward the back, it is because the unit is retreating. You never want to symbolize retreat.

And here's the distinction between necessary and unnecessary deaths: The massacre of 9/11 was unnecessary. The deaths of terrorists ARE necessary, precisely because they perpetrate unnecessary deaths. Regardless of whether our strategy is a good one or not, the two sides in this conflict are not morally equivalent.

I don't think this is Restrepo unless it occurred after the 173rd Airborne left the Korengal. I thought I saw a 1st Division patch somewhere in the video. I don't remember seeing a 173rd patch in this particular vid. It could be Restrepo but probably not from the documentary.

Anyone who's ever been to War or a War zone knows how quickly organization, strategy, and a plan can turn into Chaos. Training and keeping your head is the best way to survive. War is the finalization of politics by a violent and brutal means, and contrary to popular belief sometimes inevitable. My point being, Soldiers didn't start the damn thing, but finish the fight they will. Complain about War to those who start them, not the men and woman who fight in harms way. They deserve a thank you.
