  • great Remix freshes the Beautiful Past

  • I don't know why but this tune and maybe this particular version takes me to another place like my mind drifts back to how 90s music was really valued and good and despite the arguments etc. music really was a blessing. Hardly can say the same for most of it past 2003.

  • real talk TLC now this isshh right here is on point can feel it and hear it that real laid back styla of hip hop r&b more like that pimp ish

  • Wow. Haven't heard this remix in forever! I have clear memories of taping it off the radio sometime in the mid-90s when it was riding high in some R&B chart or the other. Flashback! Good times.

  • look right under the video box. you'll see two buttons, one for amazon and another for itunes. you should be able to buy the song by clicking one of those links.

  • This remix is the Soul Power Remix from 1994-1995; I've been looking for this for years. Thank you!

  • Were Soulshock and Karlin behind this remix? Whatever happened to them?!They were riding high in the 90s...

  • they would still be out if lisa never passed away...so sad. i think they were the only girl group who had true chemistry...but word is their will be another tlc album, after tboz puts out her solo.

  • I wouldn't say that! There were plenty of girl groups with chemistry as well as the talent that even surpassed TLC, eg SWV, En Vogue, Kut Klose etc TLC fell out all the time. Even before Lisa died their output had reduced and she was enjoying being solo.I could tell you things I've learned from producers who worked with them and what went on behind the scenes that would shatter TLC illusions. There's a very clear, obvious reason why Chilli hasn't released any solo stuff. They did make good music.

  • none of those groups you named lasted as long as TLC, none of em went thru the BS tlc did. you could just look at tlc and tell they were a group that was ment to be together. drama is life and thats deffo the case for them. no disrespect to the other groups, they just never caught my attention the way tlc did. they stood out by a mile!!!

  • Well actually En Vogue are still around. And even if the others didn't last as long (and a few of the 90s groups did) or went through the public drama doesn't mean they weren't great in their own right if not better. I respect your opinion, as you suggested TLC meant a lot to you personally. They put out some great music but in terms of artistic credibility, vocal prowess even harmonies they weren't of the same league IMHO. I have never once heard TLC all sing live acappella style.

  • Yea TLC were never a vocal group and they stated this but they had a unique sound and 3 different sounds that i guess made them edgy and unique so i understand that part with vocal abilities...they kinda were entertainers with the dances n stuff, their known for rocking the stage with dance and their style.

  • Yes def. a unique sound esp. T-Boz! She inspired many a female tenor, I'll give her that. They were fun and I have a lot of good nostalgic memories. I just don't wish to over-estimate their artistic contribution @least not@ the expense of other talented female groups at the time. TLC were what they were. For someone like me, it takes more than MTV Awards and album sales to impress although these factors have importance attached to them.

  • do you mean collectivly or the front person? cause to me although tboz was the lead singer, everyone had their part...i cant say this with any female group from the 90s, they looked like fill ins lol...not 1 member of tlc looked like a fill in to me. i agree with album sales, cud careless about popularity but you could tell as a unit they done great, it was not about cheesy songs, fake personalitys, shaking ass and lets get paid.

  • Its not doing them injustice to me...i like many of those groups songs but i dont think they had better production or lyrical content better then tlc. none of em spoke about the things tlc did, they were a concious group who made it look fun. thats what lacked to me with other groups. iam glad tlc did not have albums n albums of slow jam bump n grind music, bores me to death lol.

  • Again I think you overestimate TLC's contribution. TLC sang about sex a great deal too esp on their first two albums. With the exception of Waterfalls and Something wicked this way comes their lyrical content didnt differ all that much from their contemporaries. En Vogue mixed it up a bit too. They were very unique but distinct from TLC. I agree the bump and grind thing did get tired. But TLC did it too and they could do it well.

  • TLC could look rugged n ghetto and still get away with it...they did this all, but tlc`s qaulity of music killed those groups in the 90s, specially with CSC. i think csc is their best work and it kills all those groups albums...sorry but its truth lol

  • It's not truth just opinion. As I said all those other groups had quality music AND the harmonies & the vocal ability. CSC was a good album for what it was. It suited TLC's style but those other groups were of a different class. Not everyone wants the ghetto look, That suited TLC. Not all these acts can or should be the same. SWV's 'New Beginnings', Brownstone 'From The Bottom Up', En Vogue 'Funky Divas'- all classic albums. Once again it comes down to personal taste and what you prioritise.

  • ok you seem to comment too much stfu

  • Haha, and just to annoy you I'll tell you to calm down and mind your own. You don't have to read it if it irritates you so much. It's a free country. If you notice it was a conversation so I was responding more than random commenting. Chill the anger and God bless.

  • TLC had a unique image and sound but there were plenty of other groups who had good songs and production behind them too; just not MTV! There were some who might have been mercenary and showed up for the money but I don't think that was the majority. Again I feel that does great girl groups of the time an injustice. Perhaps you just preferred the general look and feel of TLC. Image-wise they were unique but I'm looking at the composite of all things. Vocals and songs, not just 'the look'.

  • No other group to me had a dope style like TLC, but their music n lyrical content stood out huge in the 90s, the things they talked about, their production was insane on CSC album...way ahead of time, to me i loved their delivery, i just think the other groups done great r&b slow jam type stuff...tlc done all genres of music

  • CSC was a great album, no doubt but the magic of TLC and the credit should go more to their producers and record label. They were a product, a brand. As oppose to say Brownstone who could blow. Their production was good but didn't take away from vocal ability. TLC didn't have vocals to rely on so they had to bring the goods with everything else. As we've agreed, it depends on what you want out of a group. We clearly place emphasis on diff things. This is in no way to take away from TLC...

  • I can see where you're coming from but it's definitely a matter of what you look for. I love Harmony and Melody so on just pipes alone, no they were not the greatest. I definitely see what you mean. And everyone is gonna jump on me for this, but I was talkin to my parents about how I felt Shanice is a better singer than Mariah Carey. Shanice is soul and content(you feel it) , Mariah is all high-pitch and runs. But that is simply my opinion. I like old Mariah better than new Mariah also.

  • Oh yes and I don't recall TLC doing other genres of music. No more than any other R&B group. They worked with BabyFace, Jermaine Dupree, Dallas Austin who were also instrumental in the careers of groups such as Xscape, En Vogue etc. These were some of the great producers of the day and were not unique to TLC. So again I feel a disservice is done to other groups but it's all friendly debate. It's good that we've kept it respectful and can cordially agree to disagree.

  • Also a lot of TLC was style and image sometimes over substance. They got away with it because they had a really good team behind them and it helped they were all gorgeous. MTV are notoriously lazy when it comes to mainstream support of R&B@ least back in the 90s. TLC were very stylised and colourful and made it easy for them to promote. They 'stood out' because VH1/MTV supported them more. Not necessarily that they were more talented but because of the aforementioned things and the controversy.

  • I dont think tlc stood out just for their style...i truly think people just had their favs in TLC, they were the girls next door, they were edgy n real and girls related to that more then the girly girly type groups, they had their own thing.. TLC are fun!! the rest of the girl groups were dime a dozen to me but we all have our own opinion on what a group is all about, every member in tlc shined

  • Mmmm, agree to disagree indeed. The reasons you mentioned emphasise my point about image and style more than anything. I think it's unfair to say the other groups came a dime a dozen esp. artistically. Not all were brilliant but there were some who had superior vocals as well as good looks. It depends on what you think is important and to whom you pay attention. However I agree that apart from being esp. good looking TLC had an everyday quality that might make them seem more accessible.

  • I agree their are tons of female groups from the 90s who could blow but when i say dime a dozen...i mean the way they looked, lyrical content, the production sounding almost the same. tlc always had a mix n blend of it all, they never just sang slow bump n grind tracks, they had lyrical content to their songs. i deffo see the points your making thoe for sure, tlc didnt have that vocal power like other groups..i think their likeable qualities payed a big role.
