  • Konami, one of the few companies who party like its the 90's sstill.

  • This music is as awesome as it was back in 1990! Thanks for posting!

  • Best version of this. Contra 4 was the best in the series but, that Jungle Jam remix in hard mode was lacking.

  • This may say wierd but what about The Simpsons arcade game rebirth.

  • @Aperson1990 ALL OF MY MONEY

  • Awesome song! I remember always blazing through the first level with Plissken and then getting my ass handed to me later on. XD

  • yeah.. both genesis and SNes are there. Cool!

  • Super Contra AC Version!!!EPIC!^ ^

  • LEGENDARY

  • 0:33-0:46 Joy, pure joy

  • Now all we need is SunsetRiders ReBirth.

    A guy can dream.

  • @FlameAdder yeah, i agree, and you know what other game???

TMNT (the arcade beat' em up classic game) rebirth

  • They've already tried multiple times to bring TMNT back. I've moved on.

  • @FlameAdder Now that would be a BIG win for Konami! And it would be so satisfying to hear these words all over again...

"OOOAAAAARGH!! ...Bury me with my money..."

    "YIPPIIIIE!!!"

  • You in heap big trouble.

  • awesome adaption of famicom sound...or game boy?...anyways...thanks for the video

    Konami the best!!!

  • This is actually a remix of the Contra stage music from Konami Wai Wai World 2.

  • Actually this is theme from the original arcade version of Contra.

  • True enough.

Too bad, otherwise this would've been something really obscure.

  • Just downloaded this today, I'm loving it. Huge thanks for the soundtrack link.

  • this soundtrack kicks ass... wow

  • ah this song, especially the original was amazing. This remix is sweet though

  • Is it me, or do I hear both Super NES and Sega Genesis instruments in this song?

  • I think they're trying to make the soundtrack style a mixture of SNES, Genesis, and the two Contra arcade games if you've ever played them. All four styles combined together is pretty epic, don't you think?

  • *facepalm*

Konami was trying to emulate the sounds of the YM2151 Chip.

    Play Gradius II/III

  • Knowing Konami, if they were trying to emulate the YM2151 Chip, it would sound EXACTLY like it. They were shooting for more. Listen closely, a few of the sound samples are the same ones used in Contra III, and a couple others are emulating synths from the original arcade games, and the Mega Drive/Genesis's sound channels.

  • Let me rephrase

They were trying to emulate the YM2151 with their PCM channels

PCM MEANING YOU CAN SAMPLE SOUNDS HURR DURR

ALSO SEGA GENESIS IS FM SYNTHESIS HURR DURR

  • I think both of you are right, at some points. ^^

When I look inside, let's say, DS ROMs, I see that composers have sample sounds of different instruments or sound effects they want to play for a specific song. They use these sample sounds, and turn them into a song that way. That's also the basics of how a midi sound file is playing a song for a specific hardware, through both the sound chip, and the soundfonts that tells the song what sample sound to use.

Or maybe I'm just so lost here. x3

  • No, you're not lost, you're dead on. Some of the same sound samples, (as in sound effects that can be increased and decreased in pitch for game music), that were used in Contra III, are played in the background in this game. Some of the other sound samples are emulating synths similar to the arcade games, and the sega genesis, not meaning they're REMAKING the synth, but using a sound sample of it that can be raised and lowered in pitch like any other sound sample, in other words, fake synths.

  • What I'm saying is, they're not trying to emulate YM2151 specifically, they're trying to emulate something similar to it to compose music that sounds like it was made with16-bit hardware.

  • Konami Arcade: TMNT

    /comment

  • And if they were just using sound samples of the FM instruments....trust me. It'd sound like a steaming pile of ass.

M2 remade the music using actual hardware.

  • It's a throwback so yeah, just like with the graphics they're going for a 16-bit style with the music. Personally, I love it.

  • @lolmushrooms Nope...Its The Super Contra AC Version And Contra Ac Version Mixed ^ ^

  • Thank you for the soundtrack! Kick ass stuff.
