Not to say there aren't good people at a party, but I definitely enjoy creating something or working on my project than being at a party bragging about who I've hooked up with, or how much I can drink, etc., which you are right, the drinking thing is what it seems it's mostly about. I get bored quickly, after a few minutes or up to an hour of mindless or superficial conversation. And if you have to brag about those things, then just means to me, you've got a need to prove somebody something.
I refuse to attend parties, yeah it's real fun to stand around all awkwardly while everyone acts like a rowdy douchebag. And a lot of chicks act like total drunken whores at parties and guys just take advantage of them. It's fucked.
Your videos portray a very cute, funny, likable person. There's no reason you can't talk to people the same way in real life! Get over those inhibitions and just go for it! My advice, try focusing on the other person (asking them questions, listening to their responses, watching their body language) and NOT thinking about what you look like or what they're thinking of you. Best of luck, and party on!
Solution!!!! NERD PARTY! You need to gather the nerds! Have a Dance Dance Revolution Party! Mountain Dew as the only form of Liquid Consumption! Play copious amounts of D&D! WATCH HARRY POTTER! Discuss books and films....
Or just go to the local Convention ComiCon, DragonCon, GenCon, etc, etc. Besides think of all the great costumes that you'll see!
i have the same problem at parties, though i think its cause i have nothing to talk about. i mean if someone wanted to talk to me about video games or my favourite set of novels, well i could go on for hours. i figured real quick i'm not the kind of person that should attend parties. right now geeks/nerds seem to just be the minority, so its awkward, we cant go up to anyone and be like SUP DO YOU LIKE DRAGON AGE? because the chances are they will say. pfft wtf is that? nerd!
Pretty much agree with everything you said. You'd think parties would be more fun, but only when your drunk i guess. And that not my thing. funny video though
I used to luv me a good party, i left school at like 16 to join the workforce so i started partying with my paychecks around the same time, it got crazy for like 7 years lol but at 23 i snapped out of it and went back to school, now i just cant keep up so i have a few beers and go home usually early , but every now and then i get that party buzz and have a great time, but i get really bad hangovers so i had to calm down :)
Also, I let my friends do most of the talking. Chances are (with everyone flat out drunk), a really funny conversation will erupt that I can join in due to one of my friends being outrageous really crazy/funny EVEN while sober.
That to me is what makes partying fun....and a little bit of grinding here and there. I'm a shitty dancer myself but people don't seem to even realize that since well, their judgement is "impaired"
You and me both Keeli. I don't drink on parties but that's generally because I'd rather be sober when I see people I know completely lose themselves on all that liquor. It's quite an entertaining sight to see I must admit. What bothers me in your vlog is that I have a hard time believing that you were "alone" in a corner. You didn't show up with some big dude mistaken for your boyfriend did you?
In the state I'm in, if someone like you ever show up, lotsa guys will be all around you guaranteed
What crazy world do you live in where guys would let you sit down at a party, in a corner, awkwardly and alone!.!.!... The same world where guys stand you up on dates I guess (re: your past video) ... Wisps of smoke are curling from my ears from my mind's attempts at making sense of this... The world is out of balance and somewhere, in some dark desolate place, a unicorn is dying...
@telelli *napkin in hand - 'I'm really sorry to bug you but do you think it'd be okay if I cleaned off that 'fuck off' someone wrote on your forehead?'
problem solved? yes/no?
ehhh what do I know...? I'm a proud member of the not a player society...

in general i'm the same way as you keeli, except i do like some alcohol (big beer fan, but usually just the craft beers, not the big macro-brews). i'll drink but i prefer it to be in a small group, more intimate setting.
the one exception is if i'm in the mood to play some beer pong...i can get sliiightly rowdy then, but only cause it's a fun game :)
@unicyclistAg I HATE BEER PONG. I get way too competitive and have no fun at all. I manage to ruin all party games for everyone involved with my weirdly serious competitive streak.
@unrestcure Thank you for subscribing! I love the ability to find like-minded people on youtube and get to know them. Three cheers for socially-awkward historians! :)
@telelli You're welcome. That's what I love about youtube and the internet in general. I'm just beginning to get into this whole community thing by commenting, and I really want to start making videos of my own soon - it's smaller channels like yours that really make me want to give it a go :)
Hey Keely! Does anybody in your history society know that you post videos on youtube? Maybe you have some potential followers there, and possibly a good way for them to get to know your sense of humor? Or maybe it's weird. I dunno. haha Best of luck in school.
@d00d3r No, I don't think that any of them do! For some reason, I feel a bit shy with sharing my videos with people I know from school. I highly doubt that they view me as a professional colleague or anything, but I like to pretend that they might.
I hate parties too. Everybody is so fake and immature at them. It's very annoying.

I agree with everything you said about parties..drinking.. and how you handle them. Thank God I'm not the only one!!

i disagree, a party consisting solely of friends is always fun. Especially IB parties cus everyone is a nerd, and getting drunk is not obligatory.

@seanzoz HAHAHA, you are too kind! I think maybe I give off awkward "don't-talk-to-me" vibes at parties because I struggle interacting at them.
